Chapter 15

My eyes focused on the incandescent lights over my head, causing me to blink over and over again. I quickly squeezed them back shut to keep myself from seeing spots. I turned my head to the side on my pillow to see Liam staring back at me. “Thank god you’re awake.” My eyes fluttered fully open to see Liam smiling back at me. My emotions came flooding up on me, it was one thing to be able to hear him, but being able to see his smile, his eyes. My body instantly wanted to feel his. I began to try pulling myself from the bed to sit up but Liam quickly stopped me by placing his hand on my shoulder. “Let’s have the doctor check you over first before you get up.” Without another word he was out the door to get the doctor. I don’t know why he insist on treating me as though I’m this china doll that could break any second. I sat up in the bed and propped a pillow up behind me. Don’t worry about that. We will start training and show him just how strong we are. Isla’s words in my mind had me smiling. I knew she was right, we would train and show everyone that we’re not meant to be put upon a shelf. I love to run, I play sports in school, I’ve just never had to learn how to fight someone, but I know I can do this. Liam came walking back in with the doctor quickly in tow behind him. He gave me a scowling look, which I’m sure was because I was no longer laying down. “Well, Ms. Cecily, glad to see you awake.” The doctor said, before crossed the room over to my bedside. “Do you mind if I check to see how you’re doing?” “No. Not at all.” My voice was a little scratchy from not having any water for a while. The doctor handed me a glass of water from the bedside table. “Alpha, do you mind if I look over your Luna?” The doctor turned to look over at Liam who was standing just at the end of the bed. He nodded to the doctor in agreeing to the doctor’s request. After a few minutes him checking over my wounds, the doctor sat back onto the rolling stool. “Your wolf and body did a great job. I am surprised at the speed you healed up with your wolf being so very young, but everything looks to be healed completely and there’s no scaring. You would never know the attack happened.” When the doctor said the word attack I could visibly see Liam stiffen in his stance. He still felt guilty for the rogues attacking. “Is she cleared to leave?” Liam asked, quickly changing the subject. “Yes, she is free to go.” The doctor stated, as he gave me a smile and a pat on the leg. He turned to give Liam a comforting pat to his shoulder before taking his leave from the room. Liam wasted no time pulling together any of my things that had made its way to the hospital with me. I looked over to see him grabbing up the clothes that I had been wearing when we went for our picnic. The pants looked to be ripped to shreds and the white blouse, that I had been wearing, was now a completely different color. A colorful mix of browns and deep reds, I’m sure from the dirt and dried blood from my attack. The though gave me chills. I gave Liam a half smile as he noticed me starring at the garments in his hands. I didn’t want him to think that I regretted going on our picnic, because I don’t. I just wish it wasn’t interrupted. It was a bit painful starting to put my weight back on my legs. After them being sliced into, like a meat cutter, and then off of them for a couple days, they have that constant asleep tingly sensation. Liam helped me get my bearings and make my way to the front door. It was wonderful to feel the fresh air hitting my lungs and the soft breeze that pushed my hair from my face. I instantly noticed that we weren’t at any regular hospital, just a few hundred yards away I could see Liam’s house. This must be a pack hospital, in case any of their members get injured. “I forgot I needed to talk to the doctor really quick,” Liam paused as we got just outside the front of the hospital. “That’s fine.” I turned to face him. “I’m going to keep walking towards your house. My legs are finally starting to feel normal and I’m afraid if it stop they wont move again.” I added with a giggle. “Ok.” He leaned in to give the top of my head a kiss. “I’ll only be a minute and catch right back up with you.” Being outside was so nice, today would be a perfect day to go for a run, too bad my body was in no shape to do so. I know it wont take long for me to completely recover but I’m ready to be better now. Lost in my thoughts I almost walked head first into a slender figure standing in between me and my way to the house. A pair of pitch black eyes were looking down at me. Even with the eyes completely unrecognizable I knew who this was without a doubt, Rachel. She had a look of hatred and discuss plastered upon her face. I would be lying if I said that I wasn’t a bit frightened to see her. I knew her malice for me had not lessened any. “Excuse me, Rachel.” I was hoping that maybe she would just let me pass by her. “How are you feeling?” She asked with a hiss in her voice. I couldn’t figure out why she would be asking me how I was feeling. I knew she could care less if I was actually ok. “I’m fine.” I said, before trying to go around her and show no level of pain in my legs. She didn’t hesitate to step right back in front of me, stopping me from going anywhere. “What do you want?” I scoffed, crossing my arms across my chest. “Those idiots couldn’t even do their jobs.” She scowled at me. I was taken aback by her words. Did Rachel send the rogues into the territory to come after me? Or maybe she was just disappointed that I survived it? She took a step toward me, bringing her face only centemeters away from mine, before a rumbling growl brought her to a stop. Liam was by my side in an instant, his arm wrapped around my waist in a protective stance. “What are you doing here, Rachel?” He asked with evident anger in his tone. “I was only coming to see how our future Luna is feeling.” She told him with such fake sweetness, it was sickening. She stepped forward, placing her hand upon the side of his arm. I could feel the anger building inside of me. I didn’t want her touching my mate. I couldn’t help a growl to leave my lips. “I don’t think my mate appreciates you touching me.” He told her with a smile. Without waiting for a response from Rachel, Liam scooped me up into a his arms. Carrying me bridal style towards his house. I nuzzled my face into his shoulder muffling the sound of my laughter. I looked over his shoulder to see Rachel’s murderous look as we left her behind us.
