Daniel's POV....
As you have guessed my name is Daniel, Daniel Smith and I am am a multi-Billionaire. The owner of Smiths Co, a major advertising company. I am the CEO and well known globally. I woke up and yet another lonely Monday morning. Patting the right side of my bed I do not know what I was expecting. Yes I sleep with lots of Women but they never stay because I do not allow them. Those women only like me for my money. I just want a real relationship where I can just be myself. Them not be after me just for money.
I look at both my brother and sister and envy their relationships with their spouses. Nathan my younger brother is married to his childhood best friend Lottie (Charlotte) they have such a pure relationship and are now expecting their first child together. My sister Scarlet is also married and has been for 7 years now to Jason they have 2 beautiful children together, twin boys, Ben and James. They are 7 and I love them deeply. I envy them I want that type of relationship.
I decided to stop at a Café before heading to work. It was just outside London in a small town, I had heard great reviews about the places especially the cookies. I am a sucker for Cookies. I also thought that I wouldn't be recognised there so hoped to have a quiet coffee before heading into the busy city. As I was just returning from visiting my family I had not been at my apartment in London for a couple days.
I entered to Café it looked cute and cosy but looked empty at the moment, I thought this was great certainly nobody would recognise me. As I started walking up to the counter to look at what I wanted to order I bumped into someone who had their back to me.
Sh*t I totally was not looking where I was going and knocked this person which then caused them to slip on the spilt coffee on the floor. I heard a small quiet "Ouch" come out of this person. This brought me back to realisation that they might be hurt. I then opened my mouth to say, "Oh my god I am so sorry I did not see you there, here let me help you up." I reached my hand out for her to grab, which she did as soon as her right foot hit the floor she yelped out in pain. I had a concerned look on my face and I quickly picked up a stool from the bar for her to sit on to take the weight off her foot.
"Thank you" She said to me. I smiled briefly but then my expression turned back to being of nothing but concern. I was lost in her eyes they were so blue that they looked like the deep blue ocean and suited her just nicely. A comfortable silence was then broken by someone emerging from the back interrupting us.
"Becky are you okay my dear?" He asked her looking just as concerned as me. "Yes David I am completely fine." she replied. She then tried to get up again and the same thing happened except this time she began to fall. She braced herself for the impact of the floor again but she never felt it. she opened her eyes to see that I had caught her.
"Sir she is not okay she has hurt her ankle when she slipped on coffee". I said pointing at the spillage on the floor. "It was not her fault though I bumped into her causing her to drop that tray full of mugs and plates I am terribly sorry." I apologised.
The man looked at my ankle and told her that it looked really swollen. So did I. She was lost in thought then was brought back with a tap on her shoulder from me. "Um excuse me Becky is it ?" I asked. "Yes I am Becky". She replied with almost a whisper. "I really think you should go to the hospital to get that checked out it looks really bruised." I said still looking concerned.
"Oh no I can't I have to work and be here when Bella gets back." She says looking at both me and the man. "Honey you are more important than work I can hold the fort and I will ask Amanda to take Bella back to yours so she can get settled and have dinner. I will be there when I have shut up shop as well. I can even pick you up if you need me to." The man said. I wondered who Bella and Amanda were.
I then interrupted the man " I can take you to the hospital it is the least I can do considering I did cause this. I will even stay and drop you home afterwards." she seemed surprised by my offering. "Are you sure?" she asked. "Yes is not an issue, I do not have anywhere that I need to be." "Okay she replied I guess feeling slightly guilty about making me go out of my way which I was but I didn't mind.
"I will bring the car round the front I will be just a couple of minutes." With that I left. I then come back in and takes her into my arms saying that she shouldn't walk on it. I opened the door of my car and helped her settle in. I had a beautiful car it was a blue BMW M2. Once she was belted in I shut the door carefully and ran to my side. I then got in but made sure she was comfortable first. We then started moving on the way to the hospital.
Once we arrived at the hospital Becky checked herself in. She told me that I didn't need to stay but I insisted. Her name was called I wasn't sure if I should wait here or go with her, I was broken out of my thoughts when she tapped my shoulder saying " Are you coming?" I nodded in response and followed her into the examination room. She was having a hard time walking so I picked her up and walked towards the bed then placed her down.
Becky had to have an X-ray, the doctor came back in and gave us the diagnosis. Becky had fractured her ankle and would require a cast and crutches for several weeks. This meant that she would have a hard time working. I felt so bad none of this would have happened if I was not so clumsy. The doctor started talking about after care and treatments that she would require.
After the doctor had left Becky was now having her plaster cast put on and a nurse went to fetch some crutches for her to support herself. After this is was gone 7pm, we had been here practically all day. She kept worrying that she would miss Bella's bedtime. Who is guessed was her daughter. Once we were in the car she pulled her phone out to see that she had a message from David the man from the Café saying that Bella had been fed and was ready for bed but refused to sleep until Becky was back to read her a story. I thought that was so sweet their relationship but I also wondered where Bella's father was nobody had mentioned him.
When we were in the car I thought about getting to know each other. We were chatting away, I told Becky that I was a businessman, not a total lie but not the whole truth. She told me that she had moved her when she was 9 months pregnant, that caused me to have more questions floating around my head. Why would she move so close to her due date? Why did she feel she had to move? I guess I won't know unless I ask, so I did.
"Hey Becky, you said you moved her when you were pregnant with Bella why so close to your due date?" She paused for a while, I thought I may have put my foot in it but she finally answered after a while. "I had to leave to protect her" She almost whispered. To say I was shocked would be an understatement. What does that mean though? Was she in danger?
"Was someone hurting you Becky?" I asked cautiously. Her response came in the form of quiet sobbing. That reaction was all I needed for an answer to my question. I decided enough was enough and pulled the car over. I leaned over and took her hand in mine and caressed her palm to offer some comfort to her. This was not enough so I took her whole body into my arms. After a good 10 minutes or so she finally stopped sobbing. We were strangers yet in this moment we shared I felt like I had known her my whole life. She was a breath of fresh air.
We broke away from the hug I looked into her eyes and saw a sense of hope. Was she getting this hope from me I wondered. I started the car again in the direction of Becky's apartment. Once we arrived I was greeted with the news that the lift was out of order. I knew Becky would struggle with her crutches getting up these stairs so I once again offered to carry her.
As we reached her apartment all you could hear was the pitter patter of small feet running towards the door. When the door opened a small girl she looked like a mini Becky so cute and precious in her pink Minnie mouse Pyjamas and slippers. She leapt into Becky's arms causing her to stumble back luckily I was quick enough to support her before they both fell. They slowly walked through the door. David was sat on the sofa with a lady around the same age as him. They looked to be snuggling up to each other whilst watching the love beam off of who I assume was Bella.
Becky struggled to walked and carry Bella so I picked them both up and Becky directed me to Bella's room. I placed them gently on the bed and Bella grabbed a book from the shelf and shoved it in my hand. She wanted me to read to her whilst she snuggled with her mummy. That's what I did I read Cinderella to both girls and watched as Bella slowly shut her eyes.
Bella was so cute and Becky also looked tired, I thought I should take her back to the living room to speak with David and Amanda before they leave. We chatted for a good half an hour then they both left leaving me alone with Becky.
We talked a little more and exchanged numbers as I felt as though I should make it up to her after causing her to have an accident. She soon began to fall asleep so I carried her to bed and tucked her in. I left soon after not before leaving a note telling her to text me in the morning.
When I reached home I felt complete Becky was like a little ray of sunshine brightening my cloudy dark sky. Bella was the rainbow in the middle. I went to bed that night feeling good for once in my life I felt like I had a future outside of being a CEO. I wanted to see Becky again and Bella even.
Lets just hope good things will come to those who wait. I hardly know her but I feel so good around her. I feel like a better version of myself. I thought maybe I could get to know her more and maybe in the future ask her out on a date and see where things go from there.
