Getting on with life

Becky's POV...

The next day we were on our way home with Charlie on tow. I was so happy that Daniel had offered him a job and to live with us. It meant a lot to me, I could finally rebuild my relationship with my brother after so long. When we arrived at home Bella was shattered and went straight to bed.

 Max was also tired and took himself off to his bed. Daniel was bringing the bags in while I showed Charlie his bedroom, which was the guest bedroom but now his as he is staying for a while. Charlie settled himself in quickly and said as a thank you he was going to cook dinner for us all. When Daniel was done we snuggled up on the sofa under the blanket and we finally realised that today was new years eve and tomorrow was a new year.

 We ate dinner and chatted with Charlie. Just before twelve we watched the fireworks and the countdown for the new year together and kissed as the clock struck midnight. I had a feeling that this year was going to be a good year.

One Month later.. 

We eventually got back into the swing of things, I went to work driving myself and Bella in my new car. Daniel and Charlie went to work as well. In the evenings we would all have dinner play with Bella. Bath time then Bedtime. It became a great routine not only for us but for Bella too. Today was 5th February and I was busy preparing for Bella's birthday on the 7th. 

Charlie offered to look after Bella whilst Daniel and I went shopping for presents. We decided to get her a bike with stabilisers because she had never had a bike before and Daniel seemed excited to teach her how to ride it. I think it was more of a present for himself. I watched in awe their relationship had blossomed she had now bagged herself a Dad. 

I am so glad she accepted him the way she did and I am also glad Daniel accepted her as his own. After shopping we decided to go on a date since Charlie had Bella. We went out for dinner it was so lovely to spend some time with him alone. 

7th Feb Bella's 4th Birthday

"Morning Baby Happy birthday." I said as I woke Bella up. Daniel was busy decorating the apartment ready for her. She got washed and dressed and was ready for what laid ahead of her. I had baked her a cake one she loved lemon drizzle. Charlie was adamant to give her his present first. He bought her a pink mini keyboard, she loved it so much and as soon as the batteries were in she was playing away, although it wasn't much of a tune. 

Next was her Bike, she loved it and started jumping with joy. She wanted to go to the park and ride it so we did. When we got back Charlie was sat with Mr and Mrs Smith, Daniel's parents. They had come to see the birthday girl. When they left David and Amanda popped in with a big Teddy bear that was bigger than Bella and big pink 4 balloon. 

Nathan and Lottie decided to visit with Isla-May. I got my baby cuddles that I had missed and offered to look after her for the night as they wanted to go on a date. Scarlet popped in this time without the boys they were at school and Jason was working. 

When evening fell I was making Isla's bottle whilst Daniel held her. Bella was in having her bedtime story she decided she wanted Uncle Charlie to put her to bed tonight. I was happy with that they had become rather close since he was living with us. I was glad to see their relationship booming. 

Daniel looked at Isla-May with such love and adoration, he was a great uncle to her. I took her from him to feed her. I then put her in the travel cot in our bedroom. I decided to get some sleep while she was asleep and Daniel decided to have a couple of beers with Charlie in the front room. 

At around 10 Daniel came to bed. I was awake as Isla-May had just woke up screaming the whole house down. When I finally settled her I fell back in bed and snuggled in Daniel's arms. The realisation that my baby girl was going to be going to school in September suddenly dawned on me. I couldn't believe it I wasn't going to have her around at work with me. She seemed to be excited though so that's all that matters. 

Daniel's POV...

Tonight I had a special night planned it was Valentines day and I knew today was the day I was going to propose. I had already planned it Lottie was going to go shopping with her and convince her to buy a new dress especially for tonight while Charlie, Nathan and I set everything up. 

I had booked a posh restaurant with a view for tonight and had decorated it ready for the proposal. I wasn't just asking Becky to Marry me tonight I was going to ask her if I could legally adopt Bella and let her have my last name. I didn't know if she would say yes but it felt right. 

I was nervous when I received the text that Becky was on her way. My palms felt sweaty and clammy, My tie felt tight around my neck. Now I was sat at the table waiting a waiter let me know that she had arrived I got up and turned around and when I saw her she took my breath away. She looked stunning. 

We ate our meal and towards the end of the night we were looking out from the restaurants balcony at the London landscape. I held her in my arms she leaned against my best and I rested my chin on her shoulder and whispered "happy valentines baby". She said it back.

 I then moved away from her and got down on one knee, she hadn't noticed yet because she was still looking out at the view. When she eventually turned around her face showed that she was shocked. I took the ring out and asked her, "Becky you have brightened up my life since you entered it. I would not be as happy as I am now if I hadn't bumped into you that day. I am glad you accepted me with all my faults. I love you with all my heart and more. I love Bella as well very deeply. Will you do the honour of becoming Mrs Becky Smith." She was in tears but happy tears I hoped. 

She eventually said yes took the ring and jumped into my arms. I twirled her around and kissed her with so much love, adoration and passion.

 I put her down took her into my arms and then asked my second question. "How would you feel about me adopting Bella legally and giving her my last name?" This made her cry even more, I was worried that I had said the wrong thing but she kissed me and told me that was all she had ever wanted. Bella to have my last name. 

Tonight was a huge success, I just bagged myself a daughter officially and a fiancé all in one night good going right. I couldn't wait to celebrate with my Bex. Tonight was a free house Charlie and Bella were staying at Lottie and Nathan's as they felt that we might need space which we definitely did. We lost ourselves in each other that night. I couldn't help but think that I had such a good life right now and I didn't want anything to change it. 

We fell asleep in each others arms. I woke up midway through the night to Becky shaking and crying in her sleep. I knew she was having another nightmare, she had them occasionally they had died down a lot since the attack but still happened.

 I wanted them to stop for her they really affect her sleep pattern. They drain her so badly and I just want to take her pain away. I know I can't but I wish I could. She continued crying after she woke up, I tried her to ask what this one was about but she wasn't in a state of talking so we just snuggled up together just calming down. 

Eventually she fell back to sleep I was worried about her and wanted her to talk to someone at some point. I wasn't going to force it now but at someone point she could. Right now I was just happy that she was safe in my arms and was now my fiancé.
