Without thinking, I turned around and prepared to cast a banishment spell. The door opened on its own accord and Napoleon rushed in brandishing his ceremonial sword. Justine, the Silver Fox, and I released our spells at him all at once, but they appeared to have no effect. He absorbed the energy into himself and slashed wildly, trying to come after me. I fell back against the wall and Jeremiah rushed to my side to help me. Standing with his help, I raised my voice at the emperor and said, “Hold!”
He lowered his sword and asked, “Have you decided to come back with me or need I return later with one of Phoebe’s ears?”
