Zoe's POV,
Waking up to Asher kicking and hitting his hands everywhere was a worry. Logan jumped off the bed and shouted at Asher, shaking him and trying to wake him, but he was unresponsive. I tried touching his arms. "Wake up, Asher! What's going on?" I said.
Logan kept shaking him and splashing water on his face, but it was like his body was empty. He was not in there. Leo wasn't back yet either, so it was just Logan and me.
Logan yelled in Asher's ears using his alpha command, "Get up now! Open your eyes and control your wolf." The room started shaking.
Finally, a few minutes later, Asher opened his eyes and sat up. "What happened? How long have I been asleep?"
Asher explained that he was in the packhouse during a war. He said he watched his parents being killed by my father and brother. I was shocked; my mother had told me about this when I was little, when she gave me her spellbook.
I started thinking, why would Asher be sent back to the past? Is something going to happen? Someone is trying to reach out to him or me. My mother used to say, "If you see the past or the future, you are blessed by the angels, but there's a reason, and you must figure out why."
However, I've never had visions of the past. I quickly got up and went to find the spell book that Mum left me years ago. It was the only book that contained all spells, light or dark. My mother used to say, "Hide it away and never show anyone," but these are my mates, and I know I can trust them.
"What are you reading, my love? The pages are blank," said Asher as he came closer to me.
"It's a spell book, and I'm just looking for something. It's not normal to have visions about the past, especially of what happened. It's like a message is being sent, and we need to understand why it happened."
As I kept looking through my book, I noticed Asher and Logan had given up looking.
"Found it! I knew it. The one who sees the future, the one who kills the past—the message inside the golden eye. Above the eye is the sky with the moon on the rise; the stars will shine so damn bright. Read the message before it disappears into the night. A token of blood is a must; a token of hair is a lotus."
When doing this spell, it requires a lot of magic. There are also side effects to this spell: tiredness. Performing the spell requires a certain balance of nature between light and dark. The mind of the person who is under the spell will start to bear pain worse than death; they will feel like they are dying, but everyone is different. This spell works on all, including humans. It has also been known to cause people to die, including supernatural beings. Making the spell happen is called the past—very rare and not used by witches. Only dark witches will wield the spell. To see the same visions of the past, a person is trying to reach out. A message has been left, and it is difficult to interpret. It means the person is dead and lying in heaven.
To see the same vision again, tap into the minds using the following: a cup of blood is required to start the spell, a pile of hair from each person present in the room, and a cup of blood for the person to read it well—cutting the palms and letting it fill.
The door to our chambers opened, and Leo walked in.
"What happened?"
"Something messed up, bro. How are the borders? Any luck yet?" replied Asher.
I forgot about the note they think I don't know about; of course, I do, but this is more important. I turned to Asher.
"Would you be alright if I do the spell on you so we can all see the vision you had? There's a message, and we need to know who it is," I read out from the book, not leaving anything out.
"I'll do it. I'm an Alpha; I've got Alpha blood. I can do the spell, but Zoe, are you strong enough? I don't want you dying on us," Asher said as he held me in his arms.
"Of course, I can do the spell. We will sort it out soon. Now, please let me go back to sleep; I'm tired."
As we all got back in bed, I was between Logan and Leo, as Asher didn't want to hit me if it happened again.
I closed my eyes, pretending to be asleep, waiting a few minutes to make sure the Alphas were asleep. I moved my hand and took my necklace off, putting it under my pillow. I closed my eyes, clearing my mind, picturing my aunt calling out to me. "Hello, my niece."
"Sorry about the late call, Aunt, but it's important."
"You can contact me day or night. Now, what's up, my favourite?"
"Asher saw a vision from the past—the exact way it happened, seeing his mum and dad being killed along with everything else. I found a spell to help me see the vision for myself. Am I strong enough?"
"Zoe, you are strong enough to do a lot. As I said, I don't know exactly what you are, and you're doing well keeping it a secret, but don't fall into darkness like your Alphas. They are darker than dark—the people they slaughtered, the people they hired for death. It's a big spell, and all magic comes with a price—a balance of nature, a balance between Earth and the other universes."
"Thank you very much, Aunt. I appreciate you helping me all the time. I will come and see you soon."
I cut the spell off as my aunt disappeared, taking my necklace from under my pillow and putting it back on. The last time I slept without my necklace on, I set a house on fire along with ours but somehow managed to save my family. Sadly, the neighbours died.
Everyone says the Alphas are full of darkness and that there's no light or kindness in them, all because they are the Alpha mafia triplets of the Blood Moon pack. They are known to have the biggest drug empire in the world; they're one of the largest and most dangerous mafia groups, and only my dad thinks he's harder.
I eventually fell asleep, only to be woken up by Leo talking on the phone. I was so tired; doing the spell to contact my aunt took a lot out of me. I felt so weak, and my head was pounding. I closed my eyes again and pulled the quilt over my head; I was going back to sleep.
"Zoe, are you alright?" Logan asked as he came back over to the bed.
"Yeah, I'm just really tired. I need more sleep. Can you wake me in an hour? My head is pounding, and I feel dizzy," I told them the truth; I just didn't tell them why.
It's not that I don't trust them, but I don't know what they will say or do. What if they lock me away? Then what do I do? I don't want to lie to them, but I need more time. I know they know I'm lying as well, but I'm grateful they aren't rushing me to tell them anything.
"Of course, I will. I'll sort your college out for tomorrow or when you feel better; it's up to you," Leo said as he gave my forehead a peck.
I have to say, since I was accepted by them as my alphas and mates, I feel the bond, just not as strong as they do. The sparks are there. Why did the moon goddess pair me with these? Although I don't mind, as I'm starting to fall for them hard. The more I tried not to, the more I failed.
I must have fallen asleep, as I woke up to Asher sitting next to me, stroking my face and playing with my hair. "It's time to get up, my love. You need to eat; you slept for hours. How do you feel?"
"I feel better; I'm just hungry. I also know how to do the spell."
I did feel better; I felt really hungry, which wasn't like me normally.
Getting up, I went to the toilet, had a shower, brushed my teeth, and got dressed, wearing black skinny jeans with a black long-sleeve top and my black Hugo Boss sock trainers. Leaving my bathroom, I went back to Asher. "We need to go to the office; we have a shipment coming today."
"Let's go," I replied as we left our chambers, heading to the Alphas' office.
Walking in, Leo and Logan came flying over to me and sniffed my neck. I didn't mean to let a moan out; I didn't want to get close. After all, I'm lying to them about who I am.....
