"Come on, Zoe, you can kick better than that. Show me what you got," shouted John as he kicked the ball to me.
"Watch this," I shouted back to John as I kicked the ball.
Watching the ball go up and over, my sister Mel walked out the door, and the ball smacked her right in the face.
"What have you done, you stupid f*****g mutt?" shouted Mel as she stormed over to where I was, blood coming out of her nose and landing on her top as she let out a scream.
She got a hold of my pigtail and yanked me towards the door of the pack house.
"Get off me! You're hurting me. I didn't mean to do it," I tried to tell her, but Mel didn't want to listen.
As she stormed through the door into the kitchen, where my father, mother, brothers, and sisters were sitting, she threw me to the floor.
"Look at what this b***h has done to my face! She will pay for this, look!" screamed Mel.
"I didn't mean to; you walked out and got in the way of the ball..." I was cut off by a slap from Mel on my face.
"Stop it, Mel!" shouted my mum.
"You always take her side over all of us! She's not getting away with it!" yelled Mel as she kept hitting me.
"John kicked the ball to me while I was cleaning the garden," I choked out as my tears flowed.
My face was a mess; the pain alone was bad. I put my arms up when I felt someone moving them. Opening my eyes, Shane had a hold of me and dragged me up so I was on my feet. Mel kept punching me over and over.
As I screamed, I heard my mother scream, "Get the f**k off her now," as her Luna voice came out.
Mel didn't listen; for some reason, she could blank out my mother's orders.
Shane dropped me to the floor.
As I curled on the floor, trying to stop Mel from kicking me in my ribs, which caused me to scream in pain, I felt something taking over my mind. A strange rage burned inside me, a voice telling me to "Kill her." I turned over, spitting blood out of my mouth when Mel said, "Cough it up or choke, bitch."
"You b***h!" I screamed, lifting my hands as fire came from my fingers. Pointing them at Mel, I watched as she went up in flames.
As Mel screamed, I dropped to the floor, welcoming the darkness I had just entered.
I couldn't feel, see, or hear anything.
A few hours later, I was woken up by my mother's sweet voice.
"Come on, my darling, open your eyes, come back to me."
As I opened my eyes, it was dark except for a candle burning in the corner.
"Where am I? What happened?" I asked as my eyes fully opened.
"Your powers broke through the spell. Your wolf is half awake. We don't have long, my darling. You killed your sister, Mel, using your firepower, and now your father knows the truth, so he will be keeping you down here."
"Father hates anything or anyone who's not a wolf. He's going to kill me, Mum. You need to let me out," I said at a picnic.
Alpha Rich was the most dangerous Mafia alpha to cross. He didn't approve of anyone who wasn't, a wolf. I watched as my father killed warriors all because they were fated to witches, vamps, and one refused to reject her, so my father ended him there and then.
"Zoe, you must stay calm. Your powers are active, and you can do so much more damage. I want you to know I'm so sorry, my daughter. I should have told you the truth about who you are. I want you to keep this safe and wear it all the time. Don't take it off unless you need to," cried my mommy as she handed me the chain through the metal bars.
I looked at the chain, admiring the gold heart on it with a teardrop in the middle. I let a teardrop fall as I looked into my mum's eyes. Seeing them teary, I knew something was wrong. "What's going to happen now, mum?" I asked, knowing I wasn't going to like the answer.
"I lied to your father all these years, and you killed his daughter. They will kill me, but I'm fine with that. He said he would keep you alive and fed, but you are to live in the dungeon now; this is your new room."
"No, he can kill me. I won't let him hurt you," I shouted as I let the tears drop.
"This is my mess, and you won't be taking any blame. I'm the one to blame, not you. Don't let anyone tell you any different. You're special, Zoe, very special, one of a kind, and there are only a few of your kind in this world. I want you to leave the minute you turn 18. You run and don't come back. I will always be by your side; you will always be my number one. I love you so much, and one day soon, you will be free to be who you are," stated my mum as she let go of my hands, walking out of the dungeon and closing the door behind her.
I went back to my mattress on the floor, which was covered in urine and blood stains.
Lying down, I started to remember everything that happened with Mel. I burned her alive, and I don't even feel guilty. Unexpectedly, I started to hear shouting and yelling; I knew it was my mother and father arguing. I heard someone getting slapped and knew my mother was going to die.
"Please don't! I'm sorry! We're fated mates!" I heard my mother shout.
"I, Mafia Alpha Rich of the Crescent Moon Pack, reject you, Sophie, as my fated mate, and you are no longer the Luna of this pack!" shouted my furious father. I knew from there that my mum was dead.
All of a sudden, I heard a blood-curdling scream piercing through the pack house, reaching me in the dungeon. I instinctively felt a pain in my chest; the bond I had with my mother was gone. I felt it snap as I let out my moans and tears. I heard someone open the dungeon door.
Footsteps were coming down. I quickly closed my eyes; the good thing was that I was already lying down.
"Wake up, b***h," ordered my father in his alpha voice.
Turning my head to look at him, I saw he was pale but smirking, and Shane had blood on his shirt and hands.
"Your mother is gone and dead. You're a monster, an abomination. You will not leave this cell unless a warrior is present. You will get one meal a day, and this is your new home. It's your fault your mother is dead; you will pay for killing my daughter."
"You will also clean the pack house at midnight every night from top to bottom. Don't think about trying to escape; it won't work. Warriors will be stationed all around you, so you can't run. You're going to be my b***h, do you understand, sister?" stated Shane, looking like he wanted to eat me.
"Please just let me go," I begged.
"Nope, you belong to us, to do what we please. I killed your mother, and you killed your sister. I will make sure you rot away and suffer every day," sneered my father, letting his wolf come to his eyes.
Watching them both leave was a relief, but they were right; I did kill Mel. I couldn't stop; I didn't want to. She was the most evil person in this world. As I lay there, I felt my body starting to heal. I heard a voice in my head telling me, "Everything is going to be alright; we will get free."
"Who are you? No, we won't. I killed my sister, and my mother died because of me."
"I am your witch. We are special, Zoe, and when your wolf comes to life in a few days, we will be stronger."
"What am I?"
"A hybrid: half witch, half wolf, half vampire. But our vampire will be cold and distant; we can't let the darkness overtake us."
I couldn't believe what I was hearing. Now I know why my mother said to be strong and that I'm special, although I have no hope of getting out.
I heard the dungeon door open again and wondered who it was. I wasn't allowed to see anyone until the person got closer, and I saw who I couldn't be happier to see.
"John, how are you here?"
"I know where the keys are kept. Remember, my parents are top warriors. We are getting you out, but we need to wait an hour. When the guards change over, that's when we go," replied John as he opened my cell door, coming in and locking it behind him.
"Zoe, what did they do to you?" said John as his anger started to show.
"Mel gave me a beating, and something happened. Fire came from my hand, and I burned her alive. John, I couldn't stop it, but I didn't want to, and they killed my mother," I replied as I cried in his arms.
"I knew they killed the Luna. We all felt the bond snap with her, and your father asked my parents to gather all pack members in the morning for an emergency meeting."
"I will kill him one day," I told John as he lay next to me, pulling me into his arms. "Rest, Zoe. We need you to heal."
BANG, BANG, BANG!
"Zoe, quick! Get up! We are under attack; we need to go now!" shouted John as he shook me violently.
Opening my eyes, I felt a lot better, but my arms and legs were still hurting. The pack alarms were blasting all around us, and I could hear screaming and shouting.
John quickly opened the cell door, helping me to walk out. We went to the top of the dungeon door—blood everywhere, but nobody was around, so we made a run for it.
Running out of the pack house through a side door, we came out near some brush and heard shouting—people being slaughtered.
As we ran to a tree, I saw John's parents fighting. I watched as a massive black wolf snapped their necks from behind, dropping them dead.
John dropped to the floor, holding his chest. I knew the pain he felt; I had been there. I quickly pulled John into my arms, telling him, "We are going to be alright; we have each other."
I turned to look out to see if we could make a run for it.
"MATE!" I heard the voices, sending a shiver down my spine.
We were surrounded by three big black wolves and a brown one; he must have been the Beta. I knew just by looking at them that they were my mates. As they shifted into their human forms, I couldn't believe my eyes.
I was fated to the Mafia Alpha triplets. I was screwed.
"You are coming with us, and if you don't come, your boyfriend will die," said the blue-eyed one.
"You are the Alpha's daughter. How old are you?" said the brown-eyed one.
"17," I replied as I swallowed the lump in my throat.
What do I do? If I don't go, John will die. I turned to look at John.
"You are not going, Zoe. You said me and you forever; reject them..." John was cut off by a smack in the face.
"She's ours, not yours, so mind your tongue if you want to keep it."
