John's POV,
As the pack alarms were blasting, I quickly got up, helping Zoe outside. It was a bloodbath; dead wolves were everywhere, and most of our pack members were dead. Mothers and children were lying there on a cold floor, blood everywhere, body parts scattered.
I helped Zoe to a tree when I felt a pain in my chest, causing me to let out a howl that dropped me to my knees. I knew straight away that my parents were dead; I felt the bond snap as my tears flowed, turning the anger into rage inside me.
Then I heard voices. Turning to look, I saw four wolves heading our way. I then heard the words, "MATE," said three of them as they shifted back into their human forms.
I knew this was going to be a problem. Where the hell was Alpha Rich, Alpha Shane, Alpha Bluez, or Alpha Luke? Not even the Beta showed his face.
Zoe is mine, and she will always be.
I knew who they were straight away: the Mafia Alpha Triplets—Alpha Leo, Alpha Logan, and Alpha Asher. Along with Beta Nathan, they run the Blood Moon Pack and control all of the east and south borders. My parents used to say they could be more ruthless than Alpha Rich, which I didn't think was possible. That man and his kids are vile, evil animals—a disgrace to our kind.
"You are coming with us, or your boyfriend will die," stated Alpha Leo while glaring at me.
I looked towards them, shifting my gaze to Zoe. "You aren't going with me; it's you and me together all the way. I can't lose you, Zoe, please."
I knew Zoe was going to leave, and I couldn't have that—she's all I've got left.
"You're not going. You need to reject them..." I was cut off by Alpha Leo punching me in the face, causing my nose to bleed.
Alpha Logan gave me a warning: "Mind your mouth if you want to keep your tongue."
"How old are you?" Alpha Logan asked Zoe.
"17," replied Zoe. They didn't know she was under 18.
"Zoe, please don't go," I begged her, only to be punched again as Zoe jumped in front of me, shielding me. "Leave him alone, please. I will go with you." I knew she was scared, but she wasn't showing it.
I looked to Alpha Asher as I noticed he was quiet. I saw how he was watching Zoe carefully. I knew Zoe was struggling with her leg, and her arms were still sore.
"We need to leave now; everyone else is dead. Tell your alpha he's next," said Alpha Leo as he looked right into my eyes.
"Wait a second; I want to speak with John, just us two?" asked Zoe.
They didn't respond; they just nodded and turned to walk away, stopping a few steps ahead. I knew they were going to listen; it doesn't matter how far they are.
"Never did I think I would be fated to the Mafia Alpha triplets," said Zoe, trying to cheer me up. It did the opposite; it broke my heart.
"Zoe, please don't go..." Zoe cut me off to say, "John, you are my best friend, my only friend, my family. I never wanted to leave you; I don't want to say goodbye. I wish you could come, but I believe my mates won't have it, and I don't even know them. I'm scared, John, but I need you to be alright. When I was battered and left for dead, you were the one by my side. You were the one who saved me. If you hadn't done what you did, I would be dead, as you know yourself. You will always be in my heart. We will always be best friends. Remember, you're my shiny star, and I'm yours. I'm your anchor, and you are mine, no matter what. So please tell me you will be alright, and since my mates don't know about my injuries, walk with me slowly," as her tears dropped, causing me to cry.
"I lost you and my parents all in the space of 10 minutes. I will always be here for you, Zoe. I will always be alright, and you stay strong—no fighting. I'm not there to help you," I said, laughing and carrying on. "I love you, Zoe, but I need you to promise you will be alright. At least you will have a better home, not a dungeon. You are free, my friend, and you'd better stay in touch. Take care and be who you are. I'm going to miss you, Zoe. Be careful," as I pulled her into my arms.
I saw how the alphas and beta were looking at us. Letting go of Zoe, she turned to walk away, getting into the car. I watched as she drove away out of my sight.
As I dropped to my knees, letting out my scream, I looked around and saw my father and mother just lying there on the dirty, cold floor.
Getting up and making my way to my parents, I dropped between them. I could tell their necks were snapped.
"Why did the moon goddess do this to me, taking my parents along with my love, my life, my Zoe?"
I took the gold chain my mum was wearing, along with Mum and Dad's wedding rings, and put them safely on the chain, placing it around my neck for safekeeping. Hearing footsteps coming from the forest, I saw Alpha Rich, Alpha Shane, and Beta Jayden.
"John, what happened? We got here as fast as we could," said Alpha Rich, coming towards me. I saw how he looked down at my parents. "I'm sorry for your loss, John."
"Do you know who was behind the attack?" asked Alpha Shane.
I nodded my head. "It was the Mafia triplets of the Blood Moon pack, and they took Zoe. We need to get her back."
"Why would they take her?" asked Shane, Beta Jayden, as Alpha Rich doesn't trust them.
"Because she's my daughter, and they know it. They will kill her—that's if she isn't already dead," replied Alpha Rich.
I could tell they weren't bothered; none of them liked Zoe since she killed Mel. They all hated her.
"John, your parents were damn good warriors—the best we had—and we will avenge them. But I'm afraid for Zoe; she will be killed just for the fact that she's my daughter," Alpha Rich said while putting his hand on my shoulder and squeezing it.
I know he is as fake as they come; they didn't care if she lived or died.
Alpha Rich hated anything and anyone who wasn't just a pure wolf, and if pack members turned out to be fated to anyone who wasn't just a wolf, they would be made to reject them. If they didn't, the pack members would be slaughtered or, worse, tortured.
Alpha Rich was the worst, vilest, evil Mafia man there was. I've heard the stories about the Mafia triplets that were deadly in their own way, but Alpha Rich was worse.
"You must help me save Zoe; she's all I have left. I know none of you like her, but she's my life, my love, and I want and need her back. Please, Alphas, you've got to help me. I will do anything," I begged them, hoping they would help me.
I didn't tell them that Zoe was their fated mate because I didn't know if they would still help me.
"You will attend training every morning for the next week while we sort the other stuff. If you miss one session, we will not help you. Now, is there anything we need to know? Did any of them pass a message on, and that's why they left you alive?" sneered Alpha Rich. I knew he didn't want to help me. I'm not stupid; I'm not thick. I don't need them; I just need to learn what they know.
I will get Zoe back myself; I don't need their help. What they won't know is that we won't be coming back to this shitty pack. I will end them, and we will start our own pack where I'm the alpha and Zoe is my queen, my Luna. I don't care if she has powers; she will always be my Zoe.
"Alphas, I would like to keep my parents' house for myself, as it's all I've got left of them," I stated, hoping they would let me keep my house.
"Of course. Don't be late to training at 6:00 a.m. every morning, and if you do change your mind about the house, there's room at the pack house for you anytime," said Alpha Shane.
"Thank you, Alphas. I would like to leave; I can't stand being here any longer." I needed to get away from the lying bastards.
Making my way home, I took my phone out, pulled up Zoe's number, and sent her a message: "Are you alright, Zoe? Please stay in touch. I will always be here for you, and one day we will see each other soon."
Clicking the send button and opening the front door to my house, I walked in expecting my mum to say, "How was your day, son? Come and sit; food is ready." But instead of hearing her sweet voice, there was nothing—darkness and quietness.
I had nothing left; my life was destroyed in the space of 10 whole minutes. Why did the moon goddess do this to me?
