To the people of Toccoa Falls, the pretty waitress at Toccoa Burgers is a mystery. Quiet and hard working, Jane Reed tries her absolute hardest to not form attachments. If anyone learns Jane is really Glory Reilly, daughter of a Irish mobster Trevor Reilly, heads will spin. And heads will really roll when they learn she is running from an arranged marriage to Domico Benini, a powerful and lethal Mafia Don.

In spite of Glory's efforts at being invisible, one man has taken notice and wastes no time staking his claim. Maverick James, otherwise known as Blaze and President of the feared motor club Hell's Outcasts, has always been a man who takes what he wants. Blaze goes to extra lengths to win Glory's love. But when circumstances force his hand, Blaze will have to choose between the woman he loves and the club he has sworn forever loyalty to.

This book contains themes such as emotional and physical abuse by a parent, attempted assault, and violence. I will do my best to put trigger warnings before each chapter, however please be advised. Your mental health matters.

Chapter 1
Gloria "Glory" Reilly I do not want to go to my father, Trevor Reilly's, office. Our chats never end well. Lately, they've been ending in screaming matches and if I'm not quick enough, a slap in the face. At least I still have the courage to stand up to my father. My mother, Claire, has been buried in wine bottles ever since I can remember. My younger sisters Savannah and Simone are terrified of him. If I was smarter I would tread lightly with Trevor Reilly. I used to be like my sisters and would shake whenever I learned he was home. Trevor's the leader of our organized crime family based out of Savannah, Georgia. He immigrated to America from Dublin, Ireland when he was sixteen. Trevor's rise to power was slow, but rise he did, in part because of how far he goes to meet his goals. Trevor is a cruel b*****d to the women who are related to him. The strippers in his clubs fare much worse. Beating these women is actually the best case scenario. If my father didn't have such an iron grip in this town where law enforcement looks the other way, he probably would have been a serial killer. I tried to get out the day I turned eighteen. I went to college but still remained under Trevor's thumb. I had to play nice then, because he was paying for my school after all. But two years ago, Trevor suddenly announced he was no longer paying for my school. With no means of income and not wanting to take on debt, I went home tail tucked between my legs. Looking back, I think it's what Trevor and my mother really wanted. If I knew then what I know now, I would have taken off across the world and never come back home. And that's one reason why I defy my father every chance I get. Because I have nothing left to lose and am biding my time until I can escape. Ever since my return, Trevor has tried to marry me off to men in other crime families for alliances. These men are often twenty or more years older than me, disgusting to look at and even more so to talk to. I'm sure this talk Trevor wants to have with me is yet another matchmaking attempt. Taking a deep breath, I open the door to Trevor's office and see him sitting at his desk. If a person were passing him on the street, they would look twice for Trevor is very handsome, with sandy blonde hair and bright blue eyes. I inherited his eyes, but my hair is dark brown like my mother's. "You want to see me?" "No niceties? No hello, Dad, how are you?" He snapped as he looked up at me. "I already know what this is about, what you have been trying to do with me for the past two years. There is no need for niceties. So who's the unfortunate bachelor today?" Trevor chuckled and shuffled the papers in front of him. "I have to give it to you, a stor, you are often quite amusing. But this is no laughing matter. You are going to marry Domico Benini." My blood ran cold at hearing the name. Everyone involved with organized crime in Savannah knows Domico Benini. He is a Mafioso Don and even more volatile than my father. It's rumored Domico beheaded his first wife and sent her head to her parents when he found her in bed with his second in command. "Didn't he chop his wife's head off?" I casually asked, trying to sound braver than I felt. "Just rumors, love." My father smiled unconvincingly. I felt sick but tried not to let it show. "Glory, desperate times call for desperate measures. Four of the men I arranged for you reneged when they found out how unbalanced you are." "You are trying to marry me off to some black widower, and you call me unbalanced? The only thing you've done right now is show me what kind of father you really are, Trevor." I spat, emphasizing his first name to make him mad. Trevor won't hit me right now. Domico is probably on the way to our house right now, so my father won't mark up my face. At least, that's what I was counting on until Trevor sent me flying across his office. I landed beside his desk. The office door opened and in the doorway stood a olive-skinned man, with black hair and even blacker eyes. He would have been handsome if not for the callous way he sneered at me as I laid on the floor dabbing at my bloodied lip. "I apologize, Don Domico. As you can see, my daughter is very willful and a handful. I fear you will have to do this quite often to keep her in line." My father said as casually as one would be discussing the price of eggs. Domico turned his black eyes on me, a cruel smile curving his upper lip. "A spitfire. My first wife was also a spitfire. Guess where she is now?" "If the rumors are true, she's in a graveyard missing her head." I muttered, refusing to look at him. Domico burst into laughter. "This one I like already!" He knelt down, taking my chin in his hand and looking into my eyes, his black eyes burning dark as coal. "I am going to relish breaking you, principessa." Domico whispered, then kissed me softly on the cheek as he helped me to my feet. I stayed still, fighting the vomit rising in my throat. "Trevor, I will marry Gloria in the next two weeks." Both men turned to look at me, expressions of amusement and darkness in both of their faces. "But I need to make certain assurances first. Is she a virgin?" Domico asked my father. "She was examined before she torpedoed her last engagement. Unless she has been sneaking around, she should be pure." Trevor stared at me with contempt. I resisted the urge to tell him he didn't have to worry. My virginity was the one final thing that belonged only to me. "I'd like to check for myself. My personal physician will examine her." Domico said. "Since you want to make sure my hymen is still intact, then I would like you to undergo a full psychiatric exam. So I know what mental defects I am dealing with before I marry you!" I spat at Domico. Before I knew it, I was lying on the floor again. But this time, Domico stood over me with his hand raised. I touched my forehead, noticing a knot from where I hit the floor. "My apologies Trevor. But the level of disrespect your daughter has just shown me warrants an immediate response. I will not tolerate this out of anyone, most of all my fiancé. I have killed for much less!" Domico never took his eyes off me. I was too stunned to argue. "That's quite alright. You know if you wish, you can take her now." My father looked at me carefully. "I'm leaving for Italy tonight on business. But I'll be back next week. Get up, principessa, so I can kiss you goodbye." I took a deep breath and stood up, staring right into Domico's eyes with all the hatred I could muster. He leaned in and kissed me on my lips, hints of whiskey and cigar smoke invading my mouth. "Behave. I'll see you next week." Domico left the office. My father turned to look at me. "So that you don't get any bright ideas, I'm locking you in your room until the wedding." Trevor suddenly grabbed my arm and dragged me into the hallway. Panic arose as I walked quietly beside my father. I knew the moment Trevor locked me in my room my life was in danger. I would not survive the marriage to Domico long. Either by his hand or my own. Some things take careful planning, but sometimes opportunities present themselves when you least expect. As my father dragged me towards the white pillar with a blue glass sphere on top of it that cost more than our cars combined, I realized it was now or never. And it was the last thing Trevor Reilly would have expected me to do. Before I could think twice, I slipped out of Trevor's grasp and grabbed the heavy sphere. Then I smashed it right against my father's forehead. Trevor fell to the floor with a heavy thud. I didn't dare check to make sure my father was still breathing. I ran straight to my room and opened my closet, getting the hidden bag I had quietly been packing with necessities and cash for the past several months. Running back out of my bedroom, I quickly checked to make sure my father was still lying in the hallway and bolted down the steps, out the front door and into the woods. I took my cell phone and stomped it on the ground until it broke, reminding myself to grab a burner when I got out of town. It was only a few miles from here to the bus station. I've learned some things as the daughter of a mobster, notably about creating a new identity. If my father survives, he will go to the ends of the earth to find me. Not to mention Domico Benini coming after me; if nothing else to punish me for my defiance. If I'm going to stay ahead of two of the most deadly men in the Savannah underworld, then I need to go somewhere they wouldn't think to look.
