Chapter 3

Blaze Brandon and Grace stared at me in fear as I rubbed my cheek from where my feisty little queen delivered her slap. "We had no idea Jane would do that!" Grace said in a panic. "Is she..." Brandon looked at me knowingly. I nodded. "As soon as I saw her." Brandon is my second cousin. There is a well-known legend about the men in our family. When James' men find their one, we know right away. We fall fast, we fall hard, and Lord help anything that gets in the way. "What do you know about her?" "Her full name is Jane Reed, she's 22, and she told us she's from Atlanta. That's pretty much it." Grace said. "Everything check out?" I asked her. "In terms of employment paperwork, yeah. There was nothing on her background check that gave us any red flags." Women generally have two reactions to bikers. The wild ones go all in to have a romp in the sack with one and try to become club members. But most cower from bikers and avoid them like the plague. If Jane was really some average woman, she would have been too scared to even talk. Much less mouth off and slap me. There was also the way Jane came into the bar with her sweatshirt hood up over her head. In my line of work, people do that to get around surveillance cameras while committing criminal acts. Jane didn't strike me as a thug, though it made no difference to me. I knew she was mine the minute those beautiful blue eyes of hers met mine. Hells Outcasts is for the most part an equal opportunity biker club. We welcome almost everyone, except s*xual offenders and child ab*sers. When I took over as club president two years ago, I resolved to only do our activities within the scope of the law. Our main income makers are the bar, my auto shop, my brother Chaos's firearms business, and crypto financing through my youngest brother Venom. At the risk of sounding conceited, we've made a fortune. If Jane broke the law and is on the run, depending on what she did, it probably wouldn't be that hard for me to get her out of it. "Haven't seen her around town. How long has she been working for you?" "About four months. She doesn't get out much." Brandon informed me. "How the hell did I miss her working there?" I've been to the diner for Brandon's famous burgers several times, and never saw her. Then again, it was usually later in the evening when it was just him and Grace closing up. "She works the day shift." Grace said. "No boyfriends?" It wouldn't matter if there were. They'd split as soon as word gets around she's mine. "No, though not for lack of trying." Brandon snickered, knowing good and well how pissed off I'd get hearing about the possibility of other men. "She's never mentioned family either. I've tried to get her to open up, but she's pretty closed off. Sweet girl, though. She works hard and never gives us any trouble. She's very dependable." Grace informed me. They may not have seen red flags, but things were slowly adding up for me. My girl was hiding from something. It may not be something all that bad for a man like me, but it was something nonetheless that had her so rattled she ended up here. "I'll get the word out with the Outcasts. You keep an eye on her at the diner and let me know the minute a customer tries to get too close." I told him. "There isn't much to worry about there. You weren't kidding when you said she hates small talk. It's what makes Jane my best waitress. She does her job and does it well." Brandon assured me. Good. One less thing to worry about. I texted my brother Chaos to arrange for him to tow Jane's car to my shop, and rode back with Brandon and Grace back to the bar. All three of us walked right into a brawl. It was the same two bikers it always was, Ace and Demon. And it was over the same f*****g mama who has been a thorn in my side since she started hanging around the club last year. "BREAK IT UP!" I shouted and grabbed Demon off of Ace. "He started it! I was just getting ready to get it on with Gina and this mother f*****r came busting in the room talking s**t!" Demon shouted at Ace. "It was my turn with her first!" Ace shouted at me. "GINA! GET OVER HERE!" Gina emerged with a smirk on her face from the back of the bar. "Who did you tell you would f**k first?" I felt a migraine about to start. Gina let out this annoying giggle, flipping her red hair back. She's beautiful and knows it, with green eyes, tattoos all over her and curves that make a man's mouth water. "I can't remember, baby. You look tense. Let's go in the back and work this out!" She tried to touch my arm suggestively. I jerked it back fast, knowing just what her game was. When Gina came here last year, I f**ked her a few times. Admittedly, she is great in the sack and that's made her popular among my men. But when she started acting like my Ol' Lady without the title, I stopped sleeping with her. For a biker, his Ol' Lady is his end game, and it takes a special woman to get and earn that title. Gina's been trying to make me jealous ever since and has been with just about every Outcast. A couple of months ago, she started screwing Ace and Demon and has been pitting them against each other. A couple of the other club mamas have come to me with complaints about how manipulative Gina is. Other bikers refuse to sleep with her now. Gina has not officially joined Hells Outcasts. I put off making her a member when she started acting crazy but never officially kicked her out, because honestly, women like Gina never last long in biker clubs. There's always tougher women ready to put them in their place and I figured the problem would soon take care of itself. But things have reached a boiling point. I need all the men and women to get along and work together. Someone toxic like Gina could sink Hells Outcasts. "Nope. Get your s**t and get out. Your time at Outcasts is done." I motioned for Chaos, as club Vice President, to stand by and help throw her out if need be. "NO! YOU CAN'T!" Gina started to cry. "It's been the same f**king thing the past three months! I don't know what game you are playing, but it stops tonight!" I turned to the other bikers gathering around. "Any of you want Gina to stay, raise your hands! We all know she's a great lay but is she really worth all this s**t!?" Not one of my men raised their hands. Why would they? There are other mamas who know the score and don't cause the trouble Gina has. "I love you Blaze, you can't do this to me!" I stared at her in disgust. "No you don't. We f**ked a few times almost a year ago, and that's it. That isn't love! You knew exactly what you were getting into! I told you from the jump we weren't an item!" I shouted at Gina. "There's someone else, isn't there?" She hissed at me. "So what if there is? Who I'm with isn't your concern. Get out!" I motioned for Chaos to remove her. Gina raised so much hell that it took him and three other men to escort her out. "You will pay for this, Blaze! All of you!" Gina screamed as she was thrown out. I turned around to face a shocked group of bikers. "Blaze, you said, 'so what if there is' when Gina asked you about someone else." Venom found his words first. "You know what that means, Venom." I confirmed. My brother nodded approvingly. He's the quiet one of us, steady and kind but can fight and brawl when he needs to. "So who is the special lady?" Chaos asked as he walked back into the clubhouse. "In a minute. Ace, Demon. Get your a**es up." I motioned to my two problem children. The two gigantic bikers got up and sat in chairs in front of me. "You two need to learn to share. And if you can't, wait your turn. If you two can't get along, you don't have a place among the Outcasts. You get me?" I seriously felt like a parent discipling f**king toddlers. "It won't happen again, Pres." Ace told me. "Now you two hug and make up." Chaos snipped, making half the club snort in laughter. Whereas I'm all business, Chaos is the comic relief the club often needs. Hugging isn't something two huge bikers do, so Ace and Demon shook hands and started laughing again, as I knew they would. I sat down at the bar and motioned for a shot of whiskey. "So, who is the lucky girl?" Chaos sauntered over and sat next to me. He's my second in command, and actually the largest of us with the same brown hair as me, but with the same cobalt eyes as our mother. "She's the day waitress over at the diner. I met her tonight." I said as I sipped my whiskey and motioned for another. "Dark haired girl? Pretty and petite?" I growled at Chaos, jealous he'd seen my girl before me. "Dude, chill. She's too shy for my taste." My brother liked his women built like Gina minus the crazy. "Blaze, I need to talk to you for a minute." With all the Gina bulls**t going on, I completely forgot about my cousin and his wife being there. I got up and escorted Grace to my office. "What's up?" "Jane's a sweet girl. But she's not from here. I don't know that she'll understand this world, and what it means to be yours. Please, be patient with her." Grace begged me. "She slapped the hell out of me. She's tougher than she looks, Grace." I chuckled. "And that's why you can't just start bulldozing your way into her life. You have to take it easy with her. Jane has no ties here. She can leave anytime, Blaze. Please tread carefully with her." Grace had a point. I sat in my office in the quiet after Grace left, her words sinking in. I don't know how to date. I've been a biker since I was out of the military ten years ago. I've never had a long-term relationship, just flings with house mamas to meet my needs. Most of the men met their Ol' Ladies among the Outcasts. I don't know one biker who knows how to court a woman. This is going to be complicated. But Jane Reed is my end game. Complicated doesn't mean impossible.
