Hugh rested on his feather bed and tried to contact his mate again. Kat, can you hear me?
His chest ached and throbbed intensely as her distress flooded through their Bond. He worried about what she was going through, what danger she might be in since he’d left.
Though he could feel her, he wasn’t sure he could communicate from so far away. He didn’t know where Ellandria was in respect to Earth. Probably an enormous distance, but he still had to try.
Whatever it takes.
After an hour of failed attempts, he battled with the water closet and dressed, then made his way down to breakfast with his extended family.
Goosebumps prickled his skin, and he felt a presence nearby that he did not recognize.
He turned but saw no one there.
