Michael’s POV
“You know what probably happened to her.” Diego commented from the couch where he was watching TV.
I was sitting at the table eating an apple. “Yeah I can take a guess.” All we could do at this point was guess, “hopefully she will tell us when she’s ready.”
“Hopefully. On another note, guess what I was able to find this morning?”
“What ?” I looked up at him to see him holding a key. “Is that...?”
“The master key for her bedroom. Yep. Went looking for it when the boss left this morning.”
I laughed, “at least you found it.”
“Was easy to find. I left a fake key for her room in its place so he wouldn’t notice.”
“Smart.”
“Okay I’m going to work also boss said that Briana harassed him for the address. So, she’s heading over.” Bryson told us walking in the room.
“I honestly didn’t know you were here.”
“Same.”
“Well, I was.” He said putting his bike jacket on, “and now I’m not.” He said walking out the door.
Diego sat up on the couch and turned to look at me “Why do you think Briana is heading over here?”
“Guess we will find out.”
-30mins later-
I had just come out of the office and was heading to the living room when I heard loud banging on the front door. I went and opened the door to see a pissed Briana.
“WHERE IS SHE?”
“Hi nice to see you too. How are you?” I answered sarcastically
“WHERE?”
“Her room.” I told her.
She shoved past me and marched upstairs like she owned the place. I closed the door and followed her upstairs to Angie’s room.
“START TALKING NOW!” she shouted from her room.
“I guess she’s here.” Diego said coming out of his room. We both walked over to her room and looked inside. I leaned against the wall listening in and Diego was doing the same while messing with his phone. “I’m calling Bryson so he will know too,” he told me in a whisper.
I wasn’t sure that was the best idea, but we needed to know what happened to her and this was going to be the one chance we may get to find out. Though we would need to keep her brother from finding out.
“Don’t yell at me.” Angie said calmy.
Diego and I went dead silent so we wouldn’t miss anything.
Angelica’s POV
I sat on my bed while Bri looked at me like a mother scolding their child.
“I’m sorry.” She paused taking a breath, “You’re right; I don’t need to be yelling...I apologize, but you have to understand why I’m worried about you.” I looked down at my hands in my lap avoiding eye contact with her. “I told you time and time again that that guy was bad news and that you needed to get away from him, but you never listened.” She came and sat on the bed next to me “the fact that his sister knows you live in this town is cause for concern.”
I looked up at her trying to keep from crying “I know and you were right. I thought you didn’t see him like I did and that he was kind to me and loving.” I took a shaky breath as tears fell from my eyes “the moment you left it was like a switch had been flipped. He became this completely different person.” I grabbed my pillow and put it in my lap. “He would control everything I did.”
“I told you that my friends had told me stories, and I could see it back then that he was bad news, but I could tell you really loved him and I feared that something bad would happen and you would pay the price.”
“I did. In more ways than one.” I said covering my face with my hands sobbing over the fact that I finally admitting and saying the truth out loud.
“Does that price have something to do with why you are wearing clothes that cover you up?” I removed my hands from my face to look at her. “I noticed it yesterday but just figured you dressed to be comfortable and warm in the car since you were driving all day. But after what you just said I have a feeling it’s something different.” I got up and paced my room in front of my bed while she watched me with clear concern in her eyes. I took some calming breaths trying to calm down enough to talk to her. She stood and grabbed my shoulders making me wince from the pain. She took a step back with a look that said she knew “Girl please, please, please, tell me he didn’t lay hands on you?” I looked down at the ground hugging myself. “s**t girl! How bad?”
“Bad.” I said in a small voice still looking at the ground.
She grabbed my hand and pulled me to the bathroom and closed the door locking it. She turned the exhaust fan on then looked at me, “Diego and Michael where outside listening. I realized that they listening when I got up to touch you. They were standing near the door” She told me in a whisper. I was shocked and mortified that they heard all of that. What if they told my brother? I would never be allowed to leave the house again. He would control everything. I can’t go back to someone controlling my life like that. It makes me feel like I’m living in a cage. “Girl calm down.” She told me trying to calm me down.
I was hyperventilating but I was terrified about all the what if’s. “If they heard all of that they will tell my brother.” I said between breaths.
“I’m here for you. Now take a breath in....and out. Slow calm breaths,” she told me in a soft and soothing voice. I did what she said and went to sit on the side of the tub. When I calmed down she took both my hands squatting in front of me “Show me.”
I knew what she was asking and I shook my head no. I didn’t want her to see how ugly I was due to him and what all he did to me. I may talk all tough but its just a front because I’m actually terrified and want to collapse on the floor in a fetal position crying my eyes out. He broke my body but the worst thing he did was break my spirit. It took him taking s**t way to far for me to finally run away.
“Please show me.” She begged.
“I look ugly and hate how I look.” I said softly.
“You didn’t say that yesterday.”
“I was putting up a front. I did lose weight, but I did it because he made me.” She looked at me shocked. “I ended up liking getting to work out and he noticed that, so he took it from me saying he didn’t like others looking at what was his.” I took a shaky breath, “I thought if I lose the weight like he wanted he would treat me better, but he didn’t and he still found things wrong with me.”
“Girl you are beautiful inside and out. Don’t listen to that jackass. He doesn’t realize how stupid he is.” I let out a small chuckle “I want you to show me, so I know what things to get from the store to help you.” I looked at her shocked, “Also tells me how much junk food to get so you and I can talk and help you start to heal plus it tells me how many pairs of clothes I need to pack.”
“You would stay here to help me?”
“b***h you know I will,” she stood up putting her hands on her hips. “Now lets see what we are working with.”
“Promise you won’t judge me if I show you?” I was worried about her judging me and telling me I was stupid for letting him do what he did to me. Plus, I still didn’t want anyone to see what he did to me.
“Why the hell would I judge?”
I shrugged “He and his sister always judged me, so I just think everyone judges me now.”
“We will need to work on that too.” She said taking her phone out.
“What are you doing?” I stood up asking her in a rush.
“Calm down I’m making a list of things I will need to get and help you with.”
“Oh.” I felt bad now for assuming. She put her phone on the counter and motioned for me to show her. I grabbed the hum of my shirt with shaking hands slowly pulling it off. I looked up at her once it was completely off.
She went as white as a sheet of paper, “I’m packing several suite cases.”
