Bryson’s POV
I couldn’t believe how beautiful Angelic looked all grown up. The three of us had a crush on her growing up but Antonio found out and told us she was off limits. Although that was back when she was still a kid, now she’s an adult so that means we were all going to try and win her over now. Which is why I’m taking the chance to take her home. I actually had something I needed to take care of, but it could wait till I had some time with Angie.
“I’ll be back.” Angie said getting up from the table.
I side glanced at Michael and Diego who were both watching her every move.
Once out of earshot Antonio told us in a stern and demanding voice, “don’t even try.” I looked over at our friend, brother, and boss, “she’s still off limits. I don’t care if she’s an adult the rules still apply.”
The Rules:
1.Don’t get too close to Angie.
2.Don’t let her know what we do for a living.
3.You can ONLY be Friends.
4.(MOST IMPORTANTLY) No romantic feelings for her.
We all struggle with those rules which was the reason for him sending her to boarding school after Antonio became her guardian after their parents died. Now that she was back home and going to be living in the same house as all of us the rules are going to be even harder.
She came back over and looked at me, “I guess I’m following you home?”
“Actually, I’ll ride with you. I caught a ride with Michael.”
“Okay. Can we go now please?”
“Sure.” I could tell she wasn’t too happy and I had no idea why, but I figured I wouldn’t make things worse and just let her be. I got up and followed her outside “When did you get a car?”
“When I turned 18 the money my parents put in a trust fund was opened to me. I got the car last year,” she explained while unlocking the doors to her blue 2023 Kia Sportage.
“Do you want me to drive?”
“NO!”
“Okay calm down just offering.” I chuckled.
We both got in the car and drove off while I gave her directions to our home. She was going to be shocked since the house was on a huge amount of land since we had two other buildings on the property one was used for the security company we all own and built from the ground up. The other building was where we do our ‘other’ business. I do hope we can keep her out of that world and stay innocent.
“You sure are quiet over there. You okay?”
“Yeah. I’m fine just thinking about something is all.” I kept the answer honest since I didn’t want to lie to her. “Turn here.” She turned and slowly pulled up to the gate that we had around our property. I hit the remote I had with me and the gate moved.
“Why is there a gate?” She asked in a small voice. I didn’t answer and she moved through the gate while I hit the close button. She kept driving till she got to the split off for going to the garages or going to the front. “WHAT THE HELL? HOW DO YOU GUYS AFFORD THIS?”
“There’s 4 of us and we have our own security business that does really well.” I told her calmly. “Go off to the left. It will take us to the garages around back.” I pulled out my phone and texted in our group chat about getting her a remote to the gate and garage. Since she needed to be able to come and go as she wishes. “You can park here. I’ll help you get everything inside.”
“Thanks.”
I showed her inside and gave her the tour of the house showing her where her room was as well as everything else. We then went back outside and grabbed stuff from her car and brought everything inside. Once we emptied her car I asked if she wanted any help and she said no then shooed me out of her room closing and locking the door in my face.
“Oh-kay then...” I said softly turning and heading to my room.
I unlocked my door right as my phone started to buzz. I looked at my phone and saw that it was Antonio.
“What do you want Red?” I answered.
‘She doesn’t need a remote. She will be with someone at all times and they have remotes.’
“She’s an adult and needs to be able to have her own life. She should be able to have freedom.”
‘She doesn’t know about the new players and people in town.’
“Then tell her. Better she knows, yells and curses us then not know and get in trouble.”
‘Black watch yourself.’
Shit he is calling me by my work name he’s pissed. Just like in our other job where he is called Red, I’m Black, Michael is Gray, and Diego is White. The colors where coined for us due to the color jacket’s we wear when working. “She has every right to know and if you don’t tell her... when she finds out she will never trust you again.”
‘I don’t want my sister to know that I run the town with an iron fist and you three help me with it. Our jobs of policing and running everything in this town can be done without her knowing. It’s safer that way.’
“I will do what you want since you are my friend and brother before my boss, but I warn you.... she will find out eventually.”
‘I will keep her from finding out.’ He said then hanging up.
“This will definitely blow up in our faces.”
“Bry can you come here please.”
I went to her room and opened the door “Can you not call me that please?”
She gave me a sheepish smile “What do you want me to call you Bry?”
“Raven.” I told her putting my hands in my pockets. She looked at me weird. “It’s my middle name.”
“Oh.” She looked away then back at me “So your name is Bryson Raven Black?”
“Yes.”
“Huh guess your parents had a sense of humor.” I just grunted at that since I hated my parents. My abusive father and alcoholic mother were terrible to me, and I left home with my brother at 16 wanting to get him out of there. “Sorry. I forgot you really hate them.”
“I’m surprised you remembered that to be honest.”
“I’m trying to remember everything about you three.” I gave her a real smile at her comment “Um can you put these suite cases at the top of the closet please.”
I walked over and grabbed them then did as she asked. “Need anything else?”
“I just have a question.” I gave her a look that said go on. “Who picked out the paint color and furniture? This isn’t my original furniture.”
This was going to be awkward to answer. I rubbed the back of my neck “Um Diego, Michael, and I picked out the furniture and paint. We didn’t think you would want to come home to little kid furniture, so we ordered new ones and set it all up. Diego did the painting though. Do you like it?”
“Huh didn’t picture you all for having taste.” She teased “Though I do like it. I like the soft blue and green walls and the dark brown furniture. Thank you.”
“Your welcome. Do you need anything else?”
“No, I think I’m good. I may turn in early for bed since I spent most of today driving home and loading and unloading my car.”
“Okay well just holler if you need something. I will be going out later but will wait till one of the others gets home first.” She gave me a thumbs up. I left her room and headed downstairs. I walked to the home office and stared making some phone calls for work on the secure line. Since there were people that owe us money and others that need to be taught a lesson.
