The Opened Wall
I wasn't sure if I was dreaming or if I was in that phase of sleep where I could hear the world but I couldn't move. Either way, there was a ringing and I wanted it to stop. I sighed internally as the ringing stopped and started to feel that deep sleep sink back in but that feeling was short lived when the ringing started again. This time, I opened my eyes and looked at the red flashing light on my alarm clock that said 4.03am and I groaned. There could only be one reason I was being woken up at this time of a morning. Dad. I grab my phone and answer it, not even bothering to check the name on the screen because I knew it was either the bar across town or it was the police. 'Hello?' I answer sleepily. 'I'm really sorry to wake you Bee' I hear the familiar voice of Ash through the phone. He was the bar owner's son who worked full time at the bar. 'But it was either you or the police' he sighs. In the background, I could hear my father's drunken slurs of insults and I run my hand over my face. 'Ill be there in a few minutes' I tell Ash and then hang up. I was the baby of three sisters and yet I was the one who had to take responsibility for my father. Ever since our mother died of Cancer four years ago, my father has been a drink, he hasn't been sober for longer than an hour after he wakes. Amy was the eldest at twenty-five but she didn't do much of anything unless it benefited her so there was no way she would ever take care of a drunken old man. Holly was twenty-two and she was working her butt off to get through medical school as well as juggle a relationship so I understood her not wanting the stress but here I was, eighteen and only just going to graduate by the skin of my teeth because the amount of school I have missed because of this man. I throw on some skinny leg jeans and grab a coat and head out. It wasn't too cold anymore now that it was March but sometimes, you never knew what kind of weather you'd get. 'He okay?' I look up and see Holly standing in her door way. 'Took you long enough to answer the phone' Amy scoffs. I ignore Amy and nos to Holly. 'Just same old Murray, drunk and starting fights' I sigh. 'Ill be back in a few' I tell them. The drive across town was a good six minutes from home to the bar. I park right out front and get out, making sure to lock it behind me as I head into the bar. There was only a few people left in the bar now and sadly, I recognised them all. I didn't see my father though. I go to the bar and wave Ash down 'Where is he?' I ask. 'Bathroom I think, went that way a few minutes ago' Ash shrugs. I nod and keep my eyes toward the bathroom doors. One minute passes and I was getting impatient. Two minutes pass and I was getting annoyed but when the fifth minute passed, I was getting a big worried. Did he fall? Hit his head? Was he passed out? Choking on his own vomit? I braved it. I walked right into the men's bathroom 'Dad?' I call as I enter. I look around but it was empty 'Murray?' I try again as I look in all the stalls. Empty. Where the hell did he go? I was preparing to leave the disgusting urine soaked floor bathroom when something caught my eye. The graffiti filled wall didn't look right. I step closer and realise that the wall was slightly ajar, like a secret door was there or something. You'd think I'd seen enough scary movies to know that I should run right? That I shouldn't walk toward the opened secret wall door that had no light peering from it but here I was, walking slowly toward it. I got close enough to feel a breeze fan my face but yet, it was still so dark in there. 'Dad?' I call in hopes that maybe he stumbled through here. 'No' I hear a panic gasp and spin around. Ash looked terrified 'Dont go in there...' Ash yells at me and I step forward, toward him but something grips my shoulder and I was pulled back. pulled with so much force that it was like a bungee cord was wrapped around my waist and yanked. My feet left the ground but I wasn't falling backward anymore, I was falling in general but the ground wasn't meeting me and I was terrified to the core. I was aware that I was screaming as I fell through the blackness around me and then finally - thud - I hit the ground. The hard, freezing cold ground. I groan and roll over to find snow was beneath me. I stumbled my way to my feet and looked around. It was also now daylight, like late afternoon daylight and there were trees everywhere. They were pretty trees, tall and thin and white but I was still so terrified. Where the hell am I? 'Lost dear?' I spin around and see a man leaning against a tree, he wore a suit which I found was odd. He was pale with black spiked hair and a cocky smirk which didn't put me at ease at all. 'Where the hell am I?' I questioned him. 'Is this some Narnia kind of thing?' I was aware at how ridiculous this seemed but everything that just happened in the last five minutes was ridiculous and blizzare. 'Narnia?' he asks amused and then laughs. 'Heavens no, you're in my world now' and then he grins but it wasn't friendly. It was menacing and scary. Suddenly, I stiffen at the growl behind me. Oh god, it's a bear. I'm going to die by a bear. 'Well, well' the man laughs 'Come to rescue the damsel?' Was he really talking to a bear? 'You and I both know she doesn't belong here' 'You and I both know you are the one who dragged her here' the bear behind me growls... wait.. what? I spin around and to my relief it wasn't a bear standing behind me. It was a wolf. A huge black and white Wolf and he spoke. I screech and slap a hand over my mouth. The wolf looks down at me and suddenly, the fear had returned ten fold. 'Yes, a talking Wolf' he says and my eyes widen as his big green ones roll. What. The. Hell!?
