The first luna

FIA'S POV The drive was suffocating. Not because of the silence, but because of the man sitting beside me. Alpha Kael radiated quiet, unrelenting power. I kept my eyes fixed on the passing scenery, refusing to look at him, but I could still feel him—his presence pressing against my skin like an invisible weight. The familiar streets of my hometown slowly disappeared. Shops gave way to endless highway, then to dense, ancient forests where towering pines swallowed the morning light. Every mile pulled me farther from everything I had ever known. From my room. From Maya. From the woman with platinum hair whose touch still lingered on my body like a secret I could never share. I curled my fingers into my palms until the nails bit into skin. Don't cry. Not here. Not in front of him. The silence inside the SUV was unnatural. The guards in the front seats didn't speak. Even the engine seemed muted. I hated every second of it. I hated him. After nearly an hour, the vehicle began to slow. My stomach twisted violently. Massive black iron gates rose ahead, crowned with a silver wolf crest. Armed warriors stood at attention. The moment they recognized the SUV, they bowed their heads in perfect unison. The gates swung open without hesitation. Beyond them lay a world I was not prepared for. An enormous estate stretched out like its own private kingdom—modern glass buildings standing beside ancient stone structures, sprawling training fields filled with disciplined warriors, servants moving with hurried precision. Luxury vehicles lined the long drive. Not a single person smiled. Not a single wolf looked relaxed. This wasn't a pack. It was a fortress. And Alpha Kael was its undisputed king. The SUV rolled to a stop beneath a grand entrance. Servants rushed forward instantly. One opened Kael's door. Another bowed so deeply his forehead nearly touched the ground. "Welcome home, Alpha." Kael stepped out without acknowledging anyone. The entire courtyard seemed to hold its breath. No one moved until he gave a small, almost lazy gesture with his hand. An omega hurried forward, head bowed low. "Take the Luna to her chambers." he said warmly. Luna. The word slammed into me like a physical blow. My head snapped toward him. "Luna?" I choked out. "I'm not your—" He didn't even look at me. His dark eyes remained fixed on the expensive watch at his wrist, as though my outburst was beneath his notice. A large man in black leaned in and whispered something. Only then did Kael lift his gaze. Those cold, unreadable eyes met mine for the briefest second before he turned and walked away. The dismissal was absolute. "Come, Luna," the omega said gently, touching my arm. I followed her numbly through the grand hallways. Whispers trailed in our wake. "So that's the new Luna…" "She's younger than expected…" "Do you think she'll finally give him an heir?" The words twisted like knives, but I kept my head down, too exhausted to fight. Then something beyond a towering window caught my eye. A woman stood alone in the courtyard, arms folded, watching warriors train. The breeze lifted strands of platinum-blonde hair. My steps faltered. No… She turned slightly. Ice-blue eyes flashed in the sunlight. Her. My breath caught. The woman from Club Eclipse. The woman who had set my soul on fire. Before I could react, two warriors crossed my line of sight. When they passed, the courtyard was empty. She was gone. I blinked hard, searching every corner. Nothing. Only the clash of training swords remained. "Is everything alright, Luna?" the omega asked. I shook my head, a bitter laugh escaping me. "I… thought I saw someone." Exhaustion. Terror. My mind was clearly playing cruel tricks. The omega led me upstairs and stopped before towering double doors. She pushed them open. The chamber was stunning—sunlight pouring through floor-to-ceiling windows, a grand four-poster bed, marble elegance, and mountain views. A dream made real. To me, it was only another prison. "It has been prepared especially for you, Luna," the omega murmured before slipping away. The door clicked shut. Silence swallowed me. I sank onto the edge of the bed, trembling. A broken, bitter sound tore from my throat. "So this is my life now." Tears rolled freely down my cheeks. I missed home. I missed Maya. I missed the woman who had made me feel alive for one single night. "Moon Goddess…" My voice cracked. "Was it really all because of those stupid letters?" No. It couldn't be. The letters were only an excuse. This arrangement had been decided long before my father ever found them. I had become the price of a secret no one wanted me to uncover. A soft knock interrupted my grief. I didn't answer. I had no words left. The door opened anyway. An elegant woman entered first, radiating quiet authority. She was followed by five elders, three men and two women. all dressed in traditional Silvercrest robes embroidered with silver thread. They moved with the measured confidence of those who had shaped the pack's destiny for decades. The omega who had been waiting outside bowed deeply. "My Lady." The woman approached me with a warm, practiced smile. "You must be Fia." She studied me for a long moment before nodding to herself. "I am Helena Silvercrest… Alpha Kael's mother." I remained seated on the edge of the bed, too drained to stand, too hollow to pretend at politeness. If she noticed the slight, she gave no outward sign. "Welcome to Silvercrest," Helena said gently. "I know today has been incredibly difficult. My son is not the easiest man to understand, but I hope, in time, you will find your place here." I said nothing. What was there to say? This wasn't my home. I hadn't chosen any of this. Helena glanced at the elders. One of the elderly women stepped forward first. She tilted my chin with careful fingers, examining my face like a jeweler appraising a stone. "Beautiful." Another elder took my wrist, checking my pulse. "Healthy." An older man circled me slowly, nodding with approval. "Strong scent. Excellent bloodline." The comments continued in low, clinical tones. "Younger than expected." "Very healthy." "She'll do." I sat perfectly still, every muscle tense, while they inspected me as if I were livestock at auction. No one asked if I was frightened. No one acknowledged the tears drying on my cheeks. To them, I wasn't a person, I was a vessel. An investment in the pack's future. Helena watched quietly before speaking again. "You will be well cared for here, Fia." Everything except freedom. The oldest woman in the group folded her hands and looked directly at me, her voice heavy with expectation. "Let us hope this Luna succeeds where the previous one failed." My brows drew together. Previous? The room fell into a heavy silence. An elderly man finally broke it, his tone solemn. "Let us pray she finally gives Silvercrest the pure-blood Alpha heir we have waited so many years for." My heart stumbled. There had been another Luna?
