Prologue
Third person POV
She moved excitedly towards the door of the house. She smiled at the realization that five years down the road, the front looked exactly as she had left it.
Five years ago seemed like only a fortnight away from home. But right now, she was back-back to her home after so many years.
As she lifted her hand to open the door, she remembered vividly the moment she was getting into that cab to head to the airport. It was actually the last time she set eyes on her eleven-month-old baby then. Though she had been away from home, at least she was blessed to come back.
She was back to the two loves of her life.
Her baby girl should be nearly six now. She had missed that little pie for quite a long time, but guess what-she was here, and the happiness was overwhelming at the thought of seeing her little Sam.
“She must be so cute now,” she murmured to herself as she recalled her daughter, and her excitement to see her baby girl was rising higher. She held the picture that she had taken when she left five years ago.
Somehow, she was a bit worried that she might not be recognized by her daughter, but then she counseled herself, saying that she would do anything to get her to remember her and love her.
She had not been able to communicate with either her daughter or her husband. She had been working far away, where she could not access either of them after she somehow lost her husband’s phone number for the last five years, but that did not matter, and her bosses didn’t let her.
She was here.
She imagined who could be the first one to open the door. Could it be her husband or her little, almost-six-year-old girl? With her heart thundering like crazy, she tried to open the door, but then she realized that it had been locked from the inside.
The only solution left was to knock on the door. She knocked for nearly five minutes but in vain.
This somehow puzzled her, and she wanted to know what the matter was. When she was about to give up, she heard someone from the inside approach, and then the door opened.
There he stood at the door. He was shirtless, his six-pack on display. He was actually more sexy than she had imagined he could be. She stared at him from head to toe. He had only his shorts on.
He was really a sexy man. She instantly felt aroused and imagined what was going to happen the moment they got inside.
The five years away, she had not made love to anyone, as she had always been loyal to her husband. And here she was.
A very wide smile formed on her face as she looked all over her husband’s face. The excitement had made her so confused that she didn’t even know what to do.
“What are you doing here?” she almost collapsed when she heard that. She concluded that she had not heard correctly perhaps he was joking, she thought to herself as she took the few steps between them and soon was right in front of him.
“I know you are just trying to tease me. You don’t know how much I have missed you. And where is our Sam?” she asked as she tried to kiss him, but he turned away, just like someone who was actually not interested.
“What is wrong?” she questioned him.
“What the hell, what do you want here? You are such a fool.
I have never loved you, and that is why I sent you to work abroad, so that I could have money with my lover. And indeed, we have all the money now.”
“I actually thought that you were dead,” he added.
She did not want to believe it, so she insisted.
“Where is Sam?” she questioned, her heart bleeding for her daughter.
“I have no idea,” was the response she heard. She soon felt confused, and darkness seemed to take over her.
A situation that made her feel like she was actually in wonderland, and yet she could do nothing.
