Episode 1: The Girl Who Didn’t Belong
The rain had been falling since dusk, coating the narrow streets of Raven Hollow in a silvery sheen. Most people had already retreated indoors, leaving the town unusually quiet. Only the soft hum of streetlights and the distant rumble of thunder broke the silence. Lyra Ashwood adjusted the strap of her worn backpack as she stepped out of the small café where she worked. Her shift had ended later than usual, and her feet ached after hours of serving customers. She waved goodbye to her manager before pulling her hood over her chestnut-brown hair. “See you tomorrow, Lyra!” he called. She smiled faintly. “Goodnight.” At twenty-two, Lyra’s life was simple—perhaps too simple. She rented a tiny apartment above an old bookstore, worked six days a week, and spent her evenings reading novels or sketching the strange forests that often appeared in her dreams. Dreams that felt far too real. She had never known her parents. According to the orphanage records, she had been found wrapped in a silver blanket outside its gates on the night of a full moon. There had been no note, no name—only a crescent-shaped pendant hanging around her tiny neck. The orphanage had given her the name Lyra Ashwood. She still wore the pendant every day. As she walked home, a familiar uneasiness settled over her. It always happened when the moon was full. She glanced upward. The clouds drifted apart, revealing an enormous silver moon hanging low in the sky. A strange warmth spread through her chest. Again. Her heartbeat quickened. For as long as she could remember, full moons had affected her in ways she couldn’t explain. Sometimes she heard whispers carried by the wind. Sometimes she dreamed of running through endless forests beneath a glowing moon, surrounded by wolves that never harmed her. And sometimes… She woke with tears on her face, mourning people she had never met. “Why does this keep happening?” she whispered. A cold breeze answered. She hugged herself and continued walking. ⸻ On the edge of town, hidden beyond thick woods, stood an ancient forest that locals refused to enter after sunset. They called it Moonshade Forest. Children were warned that wolves lived there. Hunters claimed the forest swallowed anyone foolish enough to wander too far inside. Lyra had always dismissed the stories. Until tonight. As she crossed the old stone bridge leading toward her apartment, every sound around her disappeared. No insects. No birds. No wind. Silence. Her footsteps slowed. Then— A low growl echoed from the darkness. Her breath caught. Golden eyes glowed between the trees. One pair. Then another. Then another. Three enormous wolves stepped onto the road. They were unlike any wolves Lyra had ever seen. Their fur shimmered silver beneath the moonlight, and each one was nearly as tall as her shoulders. Fear rooted her to the ground. The largest wolf stared directly into her eyes. Its gaze wasn’t hungry. It was… respectful. Slowly, all three wolves lowered their heads. As though bowing. “What…?” Before she could move, an agonizing pain shot through her wrist. She cried out and fell to her knees. Her pendant grew warm against her skin. A brilliant silver light burst from beneath her sleeve. On the inside of her wrist, a crescent-shaped mark appeared, glowing like moonlight. The wolves whimpered. Then they backed away. Not in fear. In reverence. A voice echoed inside Lyra’s mind. “The heir has awakened.” She looked around wildly. “Who’s there?” No one answered. The silver light vanished as quickly as it had appeared. The wolves disappeared into the forest without another sound. Lyra remained frozen on the bridge, staring at the mark on her wrist. Moments later, it faded until it looked like nothing more than an ordinary birthmark. She convinced herself she had imagined everything. Yet deep inside, she knew one terrifying truth. Tonight had changed something. She just didn’t know what. ⸻ Miles away, beyond mountains and forests, stood Blackthorne Castle—the stronghold of the most powerful werewolf pack in the kingdom. Inside the grand hall, warriors celebrated another successful patrol. At the head of the table sat Alpha Kael Blackthorne. At twenty-eight, he ruled the Shadowfang Pack with unwavering authority. Tall, broad-shouldered, and known for his icy self-control, Kael inspired loyalty in his allies and fear in his enemies. He had one rule above all others: Never let emotions cloud judgment. As the celebration continued, Kael suddenly stiffened. A powerful force slammed into his chest. His golden eyes flashed. His wolf roared inside his mind. “Mate.” Kael gripped the arm of his chair until the wood cracked. “No.” “She has awakened.” “I don’t care.” “You will.” At that exact moment, the ancient castle bells began ringing on their own. The music stopped. Every warrior stood. The oldest elder entered the hall, his face pale with shock. He looked directly at Kael. “The Moonblood bloodline…” he said quietly. “…has returned.” A heavy silence fell over the room. Somewhere beneath the same full moon… Destiny had begun to awaken.
