MATED TO THE ONE I HATE

Third-person POV: Little Ruby had no idea how quickly the happenings in her surroundings had changed. The other day, she was out in the fields of dandelions with her mother playing hide and seek, the one game in which her mother always managed to win by always finding her. And now she was stuck in an attic because her mother, Lauren, had told her to hide right after an uninvited guest showed up. Her mother had rushed her inside and said to her "Ruby, do mummy a favor, will you?" Ruby nodded her head in agreement and Lauren continued, " Let's play hide and seek, okay? Mummy wants you to hide in the attic and not come out no matter what you hear" Ruby, who was confused, asked," Are the big bad wolves here?" "Don't worry about the bad wolves' sweetie, mummy will handle them." She looked at her daughter with tears in her eyes while slowly letting go of her hand as she proceeded to leave the attic. " I promise, I'll look for you and, as always, I'll find you" and with that, she left to face the unwanted visitor. Ruby didn't know who the person was, but she assumed it had to do with the chaos that had been taking place in their town of late. She didn't even know if it was a woman or a man, but she was curious to find out. As Ruby made her way out of the attic, her heart was beating faster, her palms were sweaty, and she was so nervous that her beating heart could be heard from afar. She stopped walking and hid behind the big cupboard where no one would be able to see her. She could see her mother but couldn't make out the creature that stood with its back facing Ruby. " What do you want?" her mother asked. " It doesn't matter what I want anymore, you never cared anyway, all that matters is that I'm going to kill you and that little brat today." Although Ruby couldn't see the face of the creature, she knew the creature had meant every word of what she said. Ruby looked at her mother in fear, expecting to see the same, but her mother showed no sign of fear. " Do what you want with me but don't touch my daughter," Lauren said with spite in her voice. In a blur, Lauren was thrown upwards by the creature, and she landed on the floor brutally. She tried standing up, but the creature wouldn't stop her. The creature proceeded to tear Lauren apart with its sharp claws, killing her on the spot. Knowing her mother was dead, Ruby came out of her hiding and unconsciously knocked down a vase on the cupboard, causing the creature to look back at her. That was when Ruby realized it was indeed the big bad wolves that had been taking over the city that killed her mom. She wasted no time, she used her fright to make a flight. She ran and ran without looking back. She didn't know how, but she was somehow able to escape the wolf, but what the werewolf had done to her mother still lived rent-free in her head, never to be forgotten.
