Chapter 8

857 Words
By the time we got back to our town's main police station where everyone was both Aaron and Makaylah were out. Makaylah fell asleep while we were talking. She told me that when she was by herself sitting in the room alone, she came to realize a few things. She’s going to break up with Trent. That really surprised me because I didn’t think she would. I thought he would do something stupid and it would just end, as in the both wanted to end it, or he broke her heart. She told me how she knew that this relationship would end up being toxic to her and she could just let it drag on. She also told me wants to fight for what's right and that the best way for her to do that is to become a lawyer. She wants the innocents to get justice in the ones who have wronged them. She said that as soon as she can she is going to apply to law school. I was so happy for her. She is making something good come out of this messed up situation. It's time to face the music and wake them up.    I woke up Aaron first and then Makaylah telling them that we made it. I look over to Makaylah who has a nervous look on her face. I grab her hand and ask,  “Are you ready?”  She looks over at me offering me a small smile with a nod. We all get out of the car and look at the building standing in front of us for a minute before walking to the front doors. I grab the door handle looking back at Makaylah and Aaron before opening the door. As we walked in, we saw all the officers running around crazy. I turn to Aaron with a confused face and he just shrugged his shoulders with the same face as me.  “What is going on? Come on let’s go fi-” of course I got interrupted again.  “AREN, OH MY,” someone suddenly shouted.  I turned around to see my dad and Uncle jimmy coming for us. They embraced us all into a hug. I swear I saw my dad crying.  “You guys calm down were all fine,” Aaron said being the first on to break the silence.  “We thought that something happened to you when Aren wasn’t answering her calls for the last 6 hours,” my dad said still looking worried.  Really, it's been 6 hours since the last time I talked to Uncle Jimmy. Huh wow.  “Yeah, I'm sorry I think I dropped my phone somewhere” I answer   “It’s okay, we’ll get you a new one I'm just glad that you all are okay.”  “We are dad, come on we need to call Makaylah’s family,” I said looking at my best friend with a proud smile that she has been so strong this last almost week and a half.   “Yeah I would really like to see my parents,” she said through a teary smile.  “Okay, we are on it. Aren I need a full report my office.”   “Okay coming dad, I uh, mean commissioner”  Makaylah left as soon as her parents got her and gave me a hug. I told her I would probably stop by tomorrow and see her. After she left, I went to my dad’s office. He gathered me into a hug as soon as I walked in.  “I have missed you so much. But I need to know everything that happened.” He said turning serious at the end.  I sat down as he went around his desk to sit. I told him everything that happened. He said he was proud of me and I did a good job. Then he had me fill out a paper report because of parodical. As I finished the report my dad starts talking again,  “I know you just got back, and I don’t want to leave you, but I have to fly out tonight to handle some business. I’ll be back in a week and then I need to have an important talk.”  “It’s okay I understand,” was all I said.  “Go home and rest. I will see you next week,” he says kissing the top of my head.  I leave his office with a soft bye and went to find Aaron. As soon as I found him, I told him that it was time to go home and that dad has a business trip.  As we were leaving, we ran into Uncle Jimmy. He said that he rode with dad and need a ride back home. We all got into my started to head home, but we had to stop at the gas station because I was on E. We filled up and finished the drive home. We got home and got out of the car. When we reached the door, it was pulled open. Next thing I knew Jennifer pulled me into a tight hug.  “Oh, Aren I missed you so much I thought something happened to you,” she sobbed in my arms.  I happily returned her hug. After she was done hugging me, she jumped into Aaron's arms. Jen always looked up to both of us but mainly Aaron because she loves singing to and she wants to become an actress of musical theater. We all talked for a while before separating are own way to call it a night.
