confused and scared

“You are assigned to be my assistant which also means that you have to follow me around, take notes, and do whatever I tell you.” she counted off her fingers. “Do you sleep?” I demanded. “No,” she replied. “Vampire.” I muttered under my breath. “What did you say?” Max asked. Max looked pale. “What’s wrong?” I asked suddenly worried. “Nothing.” she said, as she took a folder from her desk. “You will work close to my office, but far enough that people won’t suspect that you are my wife.” she concluded. “We’re not even married!” I cry. “Fine.” she got on one knee. “Wil yo-” “no!” I yell. She frowns at me. “Why not?” she asks. “We just met, a-and we just met, a-and-” she stood up after putting the ring on my finger and hugged me. “Just so people know you are married.” “but I’m-” “shh.” she said. “Now go to work.” She pushes me out the door. “Wife!” she yelled before the door closed. Damn you! Then I realized that I left my jacket in there. As I entered the office, the smell of blood attacked me. Max was bent over someone. When she heard the door, she pulled away from his neck and blood covered her mouth, fangs extended from her top row of teeth. “Wait! Come on baby listen to me. I ca-” “no. what are you doing!? Who is that!?” I hissed, getting angrier by the second. How come she didn’t ask me for help? Why did she drink from some stranger? Not even once thinking about how wrong it was, how vampires didn’t exist.“You would have wanted me to ask?” she asked surprised. “Yes.” I hissed angrily, not even caring to ask how she heard me. I knew. “What do you want me to do, stop feeding on him and feed from you?” “That's not a bad idea.” I said, “No.” was all she said. “Well you can’t drink from the innocent!” “he is not innocent!” she yelled. “He has killed twenty-two hundred people, just for his own sadistic pleasure.” she said, trembling with anger. “Please, not him.” I uncovered my neck. Her eyes locked onto my exposed skin. “I can’t.” her voice was filled with pain. “Yes, you can.” she was across the room in seconds. As her fangs broke through my skin, I felt a brief burning sensation on my neck, but it went away as soon as it started. The only thing left was the light headedness and pleasure, as I slowly faded away. When I woke up, it was dark. “You're up.” someone said next to me. My head whipped around to see who it was. Max was there. As I took in my surroundings, I realized that I was in a bed. “We’re at my house.” vampires sleep? I thought. “Yes, we do.” what happened to my neck? It felt like it was burning, but then it stopped. “That’s because I marked you.” does everyone you feed from get marked? “No, only my soulmate. Our goddess, she chooses our soulmates, and when you meet them, there will be no other. No one to take them off your mind, no way to satisfy the burning hunger to taste they’re blood, to satisfy their every need, to mark them, make them yours.” she says bitterly. “I love you.” she says. “And I don’t want to hurt you, let alone do anything you are not ready for. So please, if you are not ready, then don’t let me do this. Yo-” I stopped her. “I’m ready.” “a-are-y-you su-” “yes.” I said, getting slightly annoyed. “Now bite me. Change me.” She didn’t hesitate. As her fangs penetrate my neck, I could feel her venom start flowing in my veins. My eyes felt heavy, as she lay me down, her fangs still in my neck. It all was fading, the only thing I remember is her saying to me, “when you awaken, my love, you will be changed.”
