Olivia POV
(Phone rings)
"Hello, this is Olivia speaking," I answered the phone with a tangle in my stomach, knowing it could be the call that would seal our fate.
"Good evening, Ms. Olivia. This is Mr. Roberts from the bank," the voice on the other line spoke, the pleasantry sending shivers down my spine.
"Regards, Mr. Roberts. Is everything alright?" I tried to conceal the tremor in my voice, but I knew he could be able to sense the worry.
"I'm afraid I have disturbing news regarding your mortgage," he began, his words heavy with significance.
My heart sank, and I gripped the edge of my chair tighter. “Go on," I managed to say, preparing my mind and body for the impending storm.
"We've reached a critical point in our business and without the remaining payment we'll have to initiate the foreclosure procedures," his tone was sympathizing, but the reality was cold and impatient.
Foreclosure! The term echoed in my mind like a death verdict. The house, the haven that harbored our memories, was slipping away.
"Please, Mr. Roberts, is there anything, anything at all that can be done?" I pleaded, hoping for a way out, my voice cracking with hopelessness.
"I'm immensely sorry, Ms. Olivia. We've extended the deadlines times without number, His voice softened," emphatic but conclusive
Closing my eyes, I fought back tears, the weight of helplessness crushing me. "Thank you for your time and consideration," I mumbled, feeling defeated.
The call ended, leaving me staring blankly at the phone. Foreclosure loomed, threatening to snatch away the only stability me and my family had left.
The urgency to find a solution intensified, driving me to consider unconventional options, even if they meant crossing into unknown territories. "I need more time," I muttered, as I sank into my office chair pouring over financial papers, seeking a way to salvage what was left of our stability.
(The Next Morning)
Entering the store on a typical morning, the usual chatter filled the air as staff members caught up from the previous day. My thoughts remained consumed by my family's impending financial crisis. The echo of Mr. Roberts' voice still resonates in my mind.
"Good morning, Olivia," my secretary greeted me as I walked into my office space. "How was your night?"
"Good morning, Janet," I replied, acknowledging her greeting.
"It was fine, thank you."
I slowly sank into my chair. How can i possibly solve all these problems? It's just a couple of millions but out of my reach, I was still in my thought when my secretary came in. She came in frowning her face, and it was quite evident there is trouble.
"What is it?" I asked her.
"There is a problem in the main store, one of the sales representatives got into an argument with a client and in the process a scuffle occurred between them which led to some porcelains getting damaged.”
"What? Porcelains? Damaged?" I asked, alarmed as I knew the consequences of the situation.
“Which section of the store is that?" I asked her.
"The Unique Ancient ma’am," It was at that moment I realized things were getting worse for me.
Rushing out of my office, anxiety coursed through me. My heels clicked against the lustrous floor as I walked through the displays, desperate to mitigate the unfolding disaster. The sight that met my eyes was heart-wrenching, the salesgirl, distraught, tears streaming down her face.
I attempted to offer comfort, but my efforts were cut short by the abrupt entry of the CEO, Alexander George. His aura of power and fury filled the room as his gaze fell upon the broken clock.
Alexander's voice, a chilling command, demanded answers. I stepped forward, trying to assure him that we were handling the situation.
His response was icy, cutting through my attempt. "You. Follow me. Now."
With worry gnawing at me, I instructed the staff to contain the chaos left behind, my mind racing with questions as I trailed after Maxwell, uncertain of what lay ahead in the wake of this unforeseen calamity.

Alexander Office
I stood in the CEO's office, facing Alexander's steely gaze, a storm of anger brewing in his eyes.
"Do you even comprehend the magnitude of this, Ms. Olivia? that clock was invaluable, Irreplaceable."
I could feel my job hanging by a thread, the weight of his words like a guillotine above my career.
(pleading)
"Please, Mr. Alexander. I'll do this right. I'll ensure..."
(interrupting, sternly)
"Perhaps it's time for new management."
His words hit hard, and I knew I had to reveal everything to seek his empathy, risking everything.
(pleading, tears welling up)
"Sir, please... my family is on the verge of losing our home. I've been struggling with my mortgage. This job means everything to us."
There was a brief moment where his expression softened, but the weight of the situation still loomed heavily.
(slightly less stern)
"Mistakes have consequences, and you should have managed your store effectively."
(barely holding back tears)
"I'll do anything, work extra hours. Please, don't take this away from me."
There was a pause, his contemplation palpable in the air as I awaited his decision, hoping against hope for a lifeline.
(softening)
"You said you would do anything right?"
"Yes, yes, anything. Just don't take the job away from me."
"Alright then. You can go back to your store. I will send you an invitation. We will discuss the rest there after work today."
I nodded vigorously, gratitude flooding through me though I didn't know what to expect yet, but I can rest assured that I still have my job, at least I still have a shot to salvaged not just the situation at the store but to secure my family's home from the impending threat of foreclosure.
Stepping out, determination fueled my every step, ready to redeem myself and prevent the imminent loss that haunted my family.
*******
I sat at my desk, still reeling from the intense encounter with Mr. Alexander when a chime signaled a new email. Surprisingly, it was from Alexander himself. My heart skipped a beat as I opened it.
"Olivia,
Let's discuss the situation further. Meet me at Le Château Vert at 7 PM tonight.
Alexander"
His directness left me both anxious and intrigued. "Le Château Vert?" That was one of the most grand and expensive restaurants in town. My pulse quickened at the sheer thought of stepping foot in such an exclusive place.
