THE GIRL on the FIFTH FLOOR
Genre: Mystery / Romance / Drama
Elias had always been curious, a quiet observer of life. He lived in an old apartment building in Prague, on the third floor. Every evening at exactly 6:45 PM, a girl would walk past his door — heels clicking, scent lingering — and take the stairs up to the fifth floor.
Her name was Amara. She had olive skin, sleek black hair, and wore vintage coats like she’d walked straight out of a noir film. To Elias, she was elegance wrapped in mystery.
No one else in the building ever spoke about her. No neighbors, no landlord. It was as if only he saw her.
For months, he watched from the peephole, his heartbeat syncing with her steps. He never dared speak. But something felt... strange. She never carried a bag. Never received mail. And he never heard her door open or close.
One day, curiosity overwhelmed him.
He climbed the stairs to the fifth floor after she passed. But when he reached the top... the hallway was dark. Cold. And completely empty.
No lights. No sounds. No apartment doors.
Only a single, sealed window.
He checked the building directory downstairs. There was no fifth floor listed.
That night, he waited by the stairs. At 6:45, she walked by again — graceful, silent. But when she reached the top step, she turned slightly, as if she knew he was watching.
Then she whispered, not looking back:
"You’re not supposed to follow me, Elias."
His blood turned cold.
He’d never told anyone his name.
