Chapter Twenty-nine
Heart in her throat and doctor’s appointment rescheduled, Faith flew down the highway. The police car in front of her and the one behind her with flashing lights and blaring sirens got her to Guffey in record time, courtesy of a favor from Grace Montez’s former precinct in Northglenn, a suburb of Denver.
What should have taken just over two hours took about an hour and fifteen minutes. Finally, they pulled into the tiny parking lot of the tiny police department of the tiny mountain town of less than one hundred people. Her SUV squealed to a stop and she barely had the engine cut off before yanking the key from the ignition and shoving out of the vehicle. The two escorting officers whooped their sirens twice at her before heading off back to Denver, she imagined.
