Chapter 2

646 Words
Its been three weeks after Anna's funeral. What surprised everyone, was that she didn't leave a suicide note or any other clues about why she would do such a thing. Mason missed her so much. She was like a sister to him. "Mason!" His mother called. "Yeah? I'm in my room." Mason said. He heard his mother climbing up the stairs. "Oh there you are", his mother exclaimed. She is quite shorter than Mason and has the same eye color as his. She is a blonde woman. Its all up to her to look after Mason as her husband passed away a year ago. "Mason. Get up and freshen out. You know we are going to those pathetic Harmons' house in half an hour for Anna's memorial." She said. She always hated the Harmons, except Anna of course. "Mom! What is your problem? Their daughter just passed away. You should treat them with respect!" Mason yelled. He knew exactly why his mother hated the Harmons so much. She was just jealous of them because of their richness. Plus, she always hated the fact that they are so "perfect". Mason got up and started getting ready. After fifteen minutes later, they were on the front porch of the Harmons' house. "Mom", Mason said, "promise me that you won't say anything or do anything that would upset the Harmons". "Mason, you-" his mom started, but Mason interrupted her, "promise me". "Okay. I promise", she saw how sad Mason was, so she agreed. In fact, she won't even bother talking in that house. Mason sighed and rang the doorbell. Mrs. Harmon opened the door. "Hello, Mason. Glad you could make it," she said. Mason saw that her eyes were so red. There were dark circles around her eyes. He felt so sorry for her. His mother cleared her throat. "Ahem". "Oh. Glad you could make it too Ariyana." Mrs. Harmon said. She hated her as much as Mason's mother did. "Hope this goes well", Mason thought. They stepped inside the house. Mason saw that everyone was wearing black and white. Some men were wearing black suits just like him. Others were wearing white. Most of the women in the house were wearing the same colored dress as his mother's. A white dress. He saw flowers in the corners of the house. And in the main room, in front of the doorway, stood a picture of Anna. Mason held his tears. He had to be strong for the Harmons. It was the picture Mason took on her birthday. He still remembered that day. "Come on Mason. Take a picture of mine", Anna cried. Mason laughed. "I'm trying. I'm trying." He was holding one hand behind his back. "Anna look. The camera quality sucks. Come and have a look." He said. It was a trap. Anna went up to him and she gasped when Mason took out his hand and rubbed the cake cream on her cheek. "Mason!!!!!" She screamed. "Ha! I got you!" Mason kept laughing. Anna stormed into the bathroom and when people looked up at the birthday girl, they couldn't stop giggling. When Anna was finished washing her face, Mason called out to her. But she ignored him. Mason sighed and went up to her. "Ok I'm sorry", he said, grinning. "Want to take that picture?" He asked. "Get out of my life", Anna mumbled. Mason chuckled, "You know that won't happen right? You are always stuck with me and I'm stuck with you", he said. Anna started laughing. She ran her hand over her dark hair. She looked up at Mason with her big, beautiful eyes. Thats when she saw the flash of the camera. It blinded her. "What the hell?" She said. Mason showed her the picture. It was the same picture he was looking at right now at the Harmons'. He missed Anna so much.
