Chapter 3

Everyone gathered around the table for dinner. The Harmons had a huge dinner table. There was a big silence. Mr. Harmon stood up with his glass of wine. "I'd like to propose a toast", he began. "Anna had been a very good girl. She had been our only child. And the best daughter." Mason thought Mr. Harmon would burst into tears. "I have no idea why she might do such a terrible thing" he continued. "Maybe its because she got fed up with your richness", Mason's mother suddenly interrupted. Oh no. "What did you just say, Ariyana!" Mrs. Harmon bellowed. "This isn't good", Mason thought. "What?! I'm just stating the facts", Mrs. Norman exclaimed. Mason took a nervous glance around the table. All of his school mates and some other people were looking at his mother now. "Mom-", Mason started. "Quiet Mason. Let the adults talk", his mother said. Some of his schoolmates chuckled. "Lisa, you think your daughter would turn out just perfect, like you?" She said. "Who are you to question about our daughter? Show some respect, Ariyana. At least for tonight. Our daughter's........." Mrs. Harmon's voice trailed off. "........ she's dead for crying out loud." She started crying. "Ah. Here we go with the emotional stories." Mrs. Norman said, sarcastically. "Get out!" Mr. Harmon yelled. "Oh wow. I can't wait." Came Mrs. Norman's reply. "Get out NOW!" Mrs. Norman stood up, and grabbed her son. "Come on. Its time to go Mason." She said. "No", Mason said. Mrs. Norman was confused. "What did you just say?" She asked. "I said, no. If you want to go, you can go. But I want to stay a bit longer. I'll come home soon", Mason said. Mrs. Norman just laughed and kissed his cheek. She didn't want to create a scenery. "Ok. Bye then", she left. Mason let out a sigh of relief. Out of the corner of his eye, he saw a figure move. He gasped when he saw it. Those blue eyes, dark hair, and that perfect smile and that....... Mason thought it was a hallucination. It always happens when you miss someone right? He simply ignored "Anna" standing in the doorway. He looked up again to see if she was still there. To his surprise, "Anna" had a confused look on her face. She was motioning for Mason to come near her. Mason couldn't help himself. He excused himself and went towards her. She led him to her room. "Anna?" Mason asked. "Yeah. Its me." She replied. "Yup. Its a hallucination", Mason said. "What are you talking about?" Anna asked. "What hallucination? Mason I'm still here." Mason didn't want to believe "her". "Okay. I'll prove it to you", Anna said. She grabbed a knife from the dresser drawer and cut Mason's arm. "Does that feel like a hallucination?" She asked. "What the hell?" Mason was confused. "I must be dreaming". "No Mason, you are not dreaming. You did feel the pain didn't you?" Anna sighed. "Mason, I may be here, but my body isn't", she said. Mason was surprised. "So, you are saying that you are a ghost?" Mason started to laugh. This is the most hilarious hallucination he ever had. Or is this really a hallucination? Mrs. Harmon opened the door. "Mason, are you alright?" She asked. He nodded. He looked back at Anna, and gasped. She didn't disappear like all the hallucinations should. She still stood there. "I told you so", she said, "now do you believe me?" "Do y-you see that?" Mason stuttered. "See what?" Mrs. Harmon asked. How is this possible? Only Mason can see "Anna" standing in front of him. "Never mind. I must be seeing things", Mason said. Anna started laughing. "Yeah right". "It might be because you miss Anna so much", Mrs. Harmon said. "Yeah. It might be", Mason replied, still looking at Anna. She winked at him. "What the hell is going on?" He wondered. Mason doesn't believe in supernatural stuff. "I should get back home now. Bye Mrs. Harmon", Mason hugged her and left the house. He was about to get his bike when his friend, Jeff called out to him. "Mason! Wait." "What's wrong?" Mason asked. Jeff handed him a piece of paper. It was a note. It read: "I gave you both a warning last week. You still didn't pay up. If you don't pay up within this week, you will regret it". "So what now?" Jeff asked. "If- if w-we don't pay up, they will come after us Mason." Jeff stuttered. Mason was biting his fingernails, thinking hard. The note was from the "Dragon serpents", the most powerful drug dealers in Manhattan. They would stop at nothing to get what they want. Even if it means killing someone. Fifteen of these gang members have been arrested by the cops. "Looks like you got a problem". It was Anna. She was standing beside Jeff. "Leave me alone, please", Mason said. "Why would I do that? You were the person who told me that I'm stuck with you and you are stuck with me. I need your help Mason", she said. "Bro. Who are you talking to?" Jeff asked. "No one". Mason replied. "Jeff. I told you we shouldn't have bought cocaine from the serpents." Mason told him. "I know. But I didn't know any other seller, man. Please help me. I don't have enough money man." Jeff begged. "I'll think of something", Mason promised. "Like what?" Came Anna's voice. Mason ignored her. He knew if he talked to her right now, people would think he is crazy. The next words she said sent chills down his spine. "Lets kill him". ############################## Attention to all my readers.
