The Epsilon

Axel was dressed in an elegant business style plum dress with gold heels. Followed by Declan who was in black dress pants with a maroon shirt slightly opened at the top. He had his hand on her back not wanting to pull from her touch. They needed to meet with Maverick before the ceremony. “Alpha, is this your mate?” An older woman smiled. “Good evening Wilma, this is Declan, yes he is my mate.” “You make a lovely pair.” Declan kissed Axel’s hand, “I couldn’t agree more.” The older woman flushed at his charm. “Oh my. Well thank you for stopping to humor an old woman.” They continued on, “you’re a flirt.” “I have only eyes for you my love. Centuries of waiting for you will never change that.” She chuckled, “now it seems less impressive that I waited twenty six years for you.” “Was it worth the wait?” She looked him in the eye. Many people noted the Alpha making eye contact and started to whisper. She looked back, but Declan grabbed her chin and kissed her. There was a gasp from the people that were passing by. Axel pulled from the kiss and stared at him. “Are you trying to trigger my heat again?” He chuckled, “I selfishly wanted to claim you. I apologize do we need to go back to the house?” A few people had apparently heard his words and gasped. She heard mate and Delta being whispered. Axel wasn’t sure if it was the pack’s eyes or Declan’s that made her skin flush. Declan linked his hand and hers and urged her on. She blinked, “my love, the meeting with the King is this way.” The statement had the intended effect. She noticed mindlink waves. She had always felt the static air as an Alpha. She knew that the whole pack would know soon that she had found her mate. Declan looked pleased as she led him on. “You minx. Claiming me in front of your pack. I could jump you right now.” She took a turn down an alley way and pushed him against a wall. His eyes glowed at the action. She kissed him with a renewed passion. Declan breathed deep for the first time since they left the house. “You are driving me nuts, Declan. Are you wanting me to take you in this alleyway?” He growled, “I don’t think you realize, what you have done to me.” Axel blinked her lustful look away in concern. “What do you mean? What is wrong?” “My love,” he leaned into her ear. “You haven’t noticed my scent change.” She leaned into his neck and smelled him. Axel’s eyes began to glow again. He was in a rut, because of her heat. He was handling it much better than she was. She sniffed him some more. “We are never making it to the meeting if you don’t stop.” Axel chuckled. “I don’t want others to smell you.” He chuckled, “now you know how I’ve felt since you walked into the dance covered in another wolves blood.” She blushed. “We need to go get this meeting done with.” They raced through the pack lands to the ceremony stage. Maverick took a deep breath and looked at the couple. He pushed Emilia behind him. “You could of told me. I would have pushed the ceremony back until your scents were sated.” Declan never let his eyes leave Axel. “I’m in control. You have to remember I’ve lived longer than all four of you combined.” Maverick relaxed, “we will make this quick. You will need to suppress your scents for the ceremony and run. If you weren’t such a high up Alpha we could of waited for the ceremony.” “Sorry, I didn’t know this was going to be this intense.” “Axel be honest. Did you make your bond wait? I feel like your heat shouldn’t of come so quickly if you mated when you met.” Axel avoided Emilia’s gaze. “Ummm.” Emilia focused on Declan. “You let her do that? You were whipped before you even actually bonded. You poor soul. I can bring by some medicine that will lessen the affects. It should help until after the run.” “Thank you, my Queen.” Maverick and Axel growled. “Sorry, what was that?” “Okay, we all need to calm down. Maybe this should be over the phone.” Declan scoffed, “I don’t know why this is a problem. I’ve been in a rut around you both before and you were fine with Axel this morning.” Maverick growled again. “I’ve never smelled your rut before or it would of been a problem.” “You can only smell it, because I can’t control it as well since Axelia is in heat. My mate is right here. I only have eyes for her and so does my wolf.” Maverick nodded and attempted to control his wolf. You could tell it wasn’t working since his eyes continued to glow. He showed them to where the ceremony would take place. They walked through the plans for the run and parted ways. “He is very protective.” Axel smirked, “he killed four wolves the first time they met. Even as the years pass it hasn’t changed.” As the turned toward the pack house a man approached them. Axelia recognized him as the unmated bar owner at the edge of the town. He was following her scent. When he noticed it was the Alpha he looked to Declan. “Apologies Alpha Axel.” He wouldn’t raise his head. “I hope I didn’t offend by sniffing the air.” His eyes were glowing and Declan had made his way between them. The bar owner started to smell of fear. He bowed his head to Declan. “I hope I haven’t offended your mate as well. I will take leave.” Declan cleared his throat. “Your rut is coming soon?” The bar owner nodded, “again I didn’t mean to offend.” “Ralph, you did not offend. We shouldn’t be out like this. It is why we were heading back. I would suggest a journey though to the Harvest Moon Pack for your rut.” He glanced up, “does that mean…..” She nodded and he went into hug her. “I wouldn’t do that.” “Right apologizes. I will contact my cousin there….” As he walked away, Declan secured his arm around Axel’s waist. He ushered them quickly toward the pack house, but was stopped by Axel. “I have another home. I think we should go there. There may be people at the pack house.” A woman, Axel didn’t recognize walked up. “I could smell you over the pack line.” Her smell was overwhelming. She was a rogue. Declan backed behind his mate. “How did you get over the border, rogue?” The rogue made eye contact, “I could smell you both from my home. It was easy to get passed. I knew the smell wouldn’t disappoint.” “Leave before I kill you.” She licked her lips, while her gaze went back to Declan. Axel noticed the change in her demeanor. She was going Epsilon. This was bad. Epsilons were strong and had nothing to live for. They would kill or be killed to get to what they want. Axelia shifted, ripping her clothes. The Epsilon shifted and began to circle them.
