Axel had been driving in silence, since Declan answered her. She didn’t want to cry in front of her pack. She needed to wait to discuss this in private. Declan put his hand on her leg. She felt the sparks register. She glanced up and he was giving a sad smile. He must of realized that was hard to hear.
“Alpha, I just received a text from Sam. They will be meeting us at the border to help with the new pack members.”
Axel nodded, not trusting her voice. She glanced at Declan, who was texting someone. She didn’t mean to pry, but saw the name Jasmine. A low growl only for him to hear came from her chest. His head shot up with a confused look.
“What was that for?”
She didn’t answer just kept her eyes on the road. Declan didn’t stop staring at her. He would clear his throat every few moments trying to get her attention. It was good Liah and Lucas were new mates too and weren’t focused on them. She made a quick glance and he raised an eyebrow at her.
“What’s wrong my love?”
She chuckled, “who is Jasmine?”
He laughed loud enough for everyone to hear. “That’s why you’ve been upset.”
“Are you mind linking or something? I’m so confused.”
Axel looked in the rear view mirror, “something like that.”
“You are so powerful Alpha.” Liah commented.
Declan’s chest swelled with pride, “Jasmine is a fellow council member and my sister.”
“I didn’t know death had a sister.” Axel realized she said that too loud.
“Death? Alpha, why did you call your mate death?”
Declan raised an eyebrow, “yeah, why did you say that?”
She glared at his obvious humor, “what I say doesn’t leave this vehicle.”
They knew they had no choice, but to agree. “Declan is a deity.”
“Death… you’re the angel of Death? I mean I know my Alpha had to have a strong mate, but Death.”
Axel looked at an amused Declan, “yeah, I was shocked too.”
“Not that shocked..you practically ignored the news.” He licked his lips.
She cursed him. He knew she was on her heat. The car must have filled with the smell of her arousal, because Lucas rolled his window down. Liah growled softly, but instantly slapped her hands over her mouth.
“I’m so sorry, Alpha. I didn’t mean any offense.”
She nodded, “oh you are fine, Liah. You are not the one at blame here.”
She focused forward trying to control her heat. The longer though she didn’t do anything about it the worse it would get once more. They were only ten minutes from the border. She noticed a group of wolves just outside the entrance. Declan put a protective hand in front of her and growled.
“Let me go and talk to Alpha Tristan. I don’t want him to smell you.”
She would normally argue, but she knew why he was so hesitant to let her out there. Declan walked forward, she was watching his every move. Lucas stepped out of the vehicle. Her heat must be getting bad, because she noticed Declan’s breathing was ragged. Liah stepped from the car and walked to Lucas inhaling his scent. It must be bad to start affecting a female wolf. Especially a straight one.
“Damn Axel, this couldn’t be worse timing.” She heard Declan whisper.
The whispering was a little too sensitive for the state. This made her scent carry and the first to look at her was Declan. He caught Tristan before he could head toward her. Her eyes must of been glowing brightly, because Declan’s were. She could tell he wasn’t in control. This was spiraling quick. Declan growled loudly and every wolf, but Tristan whimpered back. Tristan lowered his head, but maintained his voice.
“Looks like someone needs to relieve Alpha Axel’s heat. Are you not satisfying your mate?”
Axel got out of the car so quick and her hand around his throat that even Declan was shocked. Tristan inhaled deeply and smirked. He touched her hand in an attempt to pull it from his neck.
“Axelia, let go.”
The voice came further off and almost made her drop her hand. “No, my King.”
Tristan’s eyes looked panicked. “You disobey the king?”
“Watch it Alpha Tristan. You are more at fault for threatening the mate of a higher Alpha.”
Maverick had made his way to the group. He looked to Declan and motioned toward her. He knew in this state, she would only listen to her mate. Declan walked forward and placed a hand on her arm.
“Axelia, please let go.”
She looked to him and complied. “King Maverick, what do we owe the pleasure?”
“I heard you were arriving so I decide to meet you. I’m glad I did. Alpha Tristan, you are pretty far from your pack lines.”
Tristan turns to Maverick, “my king, this b***h tried to kill me and you are asking my intentions?”
Maverick and Declan growled, “Alpha Tristan, it will be wise of you to not threaten my mate.”
“She is a higher Alpha than you and deserves respect. Not to mention her Royal blood. So answer the question.”
Tristan gave a hateful glare, “she has kidnapped my Pack members.”
“Have you, Axel?”
She chuckled, “I have not. I may be in heat, but I am still a wise alpha.”
“Liar! The three wolves back there are from my pack.”
Axel looked to her cousin. “Liah is mated to my Gamma. As for the other two, they asked to join the pack and have completed the blood bond. I had followed every step before bringing them to my pack.”
“Alpha Tristan, you should of felt the bond break. Are you implying that a council member is lying. That she did not break the pack bond before leaving the gathering.”
He growled. “No, I felt the break, I was not contacted. She did not inform me of the pack change.”
“She doesn’t need to. She is a superior Alpha.”
They heard his teeth grind. With a huff they left. Once they could no longer sense the wolves, they embraced. Declan growled and pulled Axel back.
“Please Declan, you know she is my cousin. Her heat has no effect on me.”
He just nodded and wrapped an arm around her. Maverick allowed them to settle before they met with them once more. Declan took care of Axelia’s heat once more. They were laying on the bed. Axel got up to began getting dressed.
“Axelia.”
She nodded with a hmm, “you can call me Axel or Ax love.”
“I prefer Axelia. We should probably discuss the conversation in the car.”
She looked up with tears beginning to form in her eyes. “What is there to discuss? It’s not like we can change the outcome. I am yours. I won’t leave.”
“You are crying love.” He was at her side.
Axel breathed deeply, “I mean I didn’t want a pup this quick.”
He nodded in understanding, “but eventually you would’ve.”
“I’m an Alpha…and I now know I won’t have an heir to fill the title.”
