Chapter 2 - Mission Impossible ELORA'S POV In a split second, the ideal birthday party turned to a field of chaos. People began running Helter skelter, looking for where to hide, as men dressed in all-black swarmed the hall. "Protect your mother and your wife, Bryan!!", Alpha ordered as he shapeshifted, ready to go into war. "Let's go", Bryan reached for my arm, but before she could take it, a force violently pushed him off the stage. "Bryan!!", I screamed in horror. Before I could think of what to do, I felt a cloak cover my whole face, and someone from behind yanked me off the stage. "Leave me!! Let me go!! Let go of me-", a sharp needle was pierced into my neck, and within seconds, I couldn't feel my limbs anymore. Amidst all the chaos, I locked eyes with someone who seemed larger than life itself. He stood on a spot, unmoved by all disarray, but his dark gaze was fixed on me. I could see his poison-dark eyes pierce my soul. I needed no one to tell me that he was the perpetrator of unfortunate havoc. The leader of the Lycans... It seemed as though time was paused for a second, for the sole purpose of acknowledging the devil who sent to ruin my life. His eyes were the last thing I saw before I finally slipped into unconsciousness ***** I blinked plenty of times, fighting to get myself to full consciousness. "Where the hell am I?", I muttered under my breath, confused... Panting, I frantically looked around, searching for something... Someone... Anyone. There wasn't a single sound or noise made apart from the echoes of my heavy pants. The room was dark as well. I didn't have the slightest idea where I was. I didn't know how I got here either. My mouth felt dry and bitter. Although my nose felt all too heavy for some reason, I could easily smell the musty, putrid, disgusting that twisted intestines and made me wish I was still unconscious. Hell, the smell made me dizzy. It smelled like I was in a room that had been void of air since it was built. It smelt sweat and raw meat and blood. I could almost bet that this room had been used as some form of butcher room before now. I felt tired as hell. I couldn't find anyone or see anything substantial due to the bright light bulb directly above that almost succeeded in blinding my tired eyes. I found it hard to control my breathing. I was tired and restless at the same time. I tried to be aware of my surroundings and myself first, before I continued asking myself questions of how I got here, and how to get out... I'd noticed I was sitting on a small, rusted metallic, foldable chair. I tried to get up but I couldn't. I knew I was tired, but there was no way I could possibly be too tired to get up from the chair. I would've fallen at least. I tried to move my hands, trying to use them to get the water on my face away, but then I realized I couldn't. I tried to move my hands again, but they still didn't budge. I tried to move my legs; they wouldn't budge an inch either. It wasn't long till I realized I was tightly tied to the metallic chair... The realization didn't help me a little in calming my nerves down. my heart began racing. I began panicking. I tried moving again - this time, to get out of the bondage, but I failed. Despite the fact that I was panicking seriously, I was too weak and tired to show any form of emotions. I wanted to speak; I wanted to scream and yell as loud as I could for help, but it seemed like my tongue had somehow been glued to the roof of my mouth. I doubted I would be able to make anything worth a whisper, even if I had the chance to... I stared into the open dark space ahead of me, thinking of what to do. As I gazed into the void, my pupils settled and became wider, helping me to see better. "I can't even find a way out of this goddamn place!" My ears perked up at the sound of a desperate, panting voice. "Who's.... who's there?", I squinted into the darkness, trying to make out the owner of the voice. "Elora? Are you awake?!" Wait... I knew that voice. The person rushed to me and gripped my arms. "Elora! I thought you were dead!!", Maggie screamed, her eyes filled with fear. "Wh... Where are we?", I managed to mutter weakly. "The bastard called Jace held us captive! I don't know what he wants from us, and we need to find a way to get out of here now!", She rushed her words like she was being pursued by someone. It was until then that flashback of what happened hours ago. I remembered how, before my own eyes, my pack got massacred like nobodies. I remembered the love of my life being stabbed in the neck, all in the name of saving me. Alpha Lewis and Luna would've been killed by now. She quickly untied me from the chair and dragged me up. "Are you sure you can walk?", She questioned in concern. My knees threatened to give in, but I didn't care at this point. "I don't have a choice. Let's find a way out of here", I replied. We began searching in the dark for a door handle or some sort of opening. Minutes passed, and I was beginning to believe that we were put in a box, until... "Yes!", I heard Maggie open a door, and streaks of light flowed into the room. "Let's go!!", She grabbed my hand and dragged me out of the room. We found ourselves in a dimly lit hallway, different rooms lined side by side. "There!", My eyes caught sight of the stairs leading downstairs. Stealthily, we tiptoed our way to the stairs. We were about to set our foot on the first step, our ears perked at the sound of approaching footsteps. We stared at each other, and we had the same look of horror on our faces. "s**t!" Without thinking, we ran back to the hallway and barged into the nearest room, hoping it wouldn't be the room they were heading to. It took us a second or two before we noticed the extremely putrid smell of rotten meat in the dark room. More seconds passed as we waited, and it got worse, until it was unbearable. Out of split curiosity, Maggie blindly felt the wall for a switch, and she finally found one, she flicked it open. It was probably going to be one of the worst decisions she'd make tonight. Our eyes hovered around the room until they fell on a lifeless body. We stared in utter shock at the sight of a bloodied corpse, a hole in the head, the body which was already filled with pulse and rotting. I glanced at Maggie, and she had already turned pale green. She opened her mouth to say something but I put my hand over it immediately. "I know you can't handle situations like this. Don't say a word, because I can't have you throw up right now", I warned her. With a look of despair, she nodded in agreement. "They must've been far gone by now", I muttered and slowly opened the door. I poked my head out of the door and when I was sure no one was present, I led out. We stealthily journeyed down the stairs, which led us to what was supposed to be a living room. As I half expected, we saw two guards at the main door. "There must be an exit in the kitchen. Let's try it", Maggie whispered. But what if there was someone in the kitchen? What explanation were we going to give? Sending a little prayer to the Moon Goddess, we walked into the kitchen and to our surprise, no one was there. We looked around for a door, and soon sighted one at the extreme end of the kitchen. We hurried over and I twisted the doorknob, hoping it wasn't locked. It gave way. Maybe the Moon Goddess did answer prayers. We walked through the door and the cold night wind blew across our faces. Freedom. Now, all we needed to do was to jump the fence and run as far away as she could. "Are you ready?", Maggie questioned, and even though my heart was beating hard against my chest, I nodded. We took some steps back to gain enough speed to take us over the fence. I'd never done this before, but it couldn't be that hard. "1... 2... 3..." We immediately ran across the building to the fence and just as we were about to get our limbs all over the fence, we felt a strong force from nowhere drag us down to the ground…
