Chapter One: Molly

3965 Words
My head was throbbing bad as I unlocked the door to the house we have called home for the last five years. I entered and I groaned. My brother had forgotten to set his alarm again. With a sigh I was glad I grabbed breakfast for myself out. I quickly dropped everything and raced up the stairs to my little sisters room. She was up and playing with her stuffies. She was dressed and ready to go other then her hair. I smiled as I walked in. “Molly.” She cried happily. I smiled as she raced over to me arms up in the air. I lifted her without a second though. My body screamed at me but I pushed through it as I held her tight. “All ready for school?” I said happily. She nodded as we walked back out to the kitchen. I put her down and placed the pancakes infront of her. She smiled wildly as she poured the syrup and began to eat happily. I grabbed the bag with the egg mcmuffin and hashbrown and walked over to the steaming pot of coffee. I was glad I remembered to set the pot up to brew on it’s own. I pulled out my brother coffee mug and poured his coffee just the way he liked it. “Stay right here.” I spoke with a smile. My baby sis looked at me and smiled. She loved her pancakes and knew she wouldn’t leave them for anything. “Oli, bro your going to be late for school.” “Mol,” he grumbled as he grabbed his phone from his side table. He looked at it and jumped out of bed. He was in and out of the closet with the speed of light and into the bathroom. I waited patiently. As he raced out of the bathroom and to me I snapped my fingers freezing him in time. “She is just down stairs.” I said gently. I instantly let the magic go and he came to a halt. He looked at me apologetic. “Is something bothering you?” “No I just for got again.” He said as his gaze hit the floor. “Oli you where out till 1 last night. The babysitter messaged me.” I told him. I mean for me it was a big deal right now. We had a issue with the house and had to take yet another lone. I was working 3 jobs to keep us afloat. I mean most of them are minimum wage jobs. I didn’t have the money to pay for the babysitter to be here longer. “I was with a friend and lost track of time.” He said. I just sighed as I held up the bag and his travel mug. He smiled at me as he grabbed them and raced to the kitchen. The house was a beautiful two story home. There where two bedrooms upstairs the main house with two bedrooms down a hall and then there was an unfinished basement. With a pipe busting down there we had to take a loan out to get it fixed. We have now put a rec room in and walls up for a workout room and a arts room. Both empty but ready when we are. I figured I should have the loaned payed off in a few months we can get another for equipment so Oli could be home working out. That way I didn’t need the babysitter for that time. “Molly.” I heard my sister complain. I shook my head as I walked back to her. Oliver had stolen a piece of her pancake. I just chuckled as I gathered my things from my night job and walked up to my bedroom. I quickly changed before I raced down to my sister. She was finished her breakfast and was washing up at the kitchen sink. Oliver was racing out the door to catch the bus. “Let go tame that mane.” I said causing Alisa to jump a little. She looked at me and nodded as we went to her room. “Molly can you French barmaid it for me?” She asked quietly. I nodded as she happily danced to her brush and pony. She loved when I did things like that. I learnt so many hair do's since her birth that she asks for something new ever day. I mean both Oli and I think pig tails look the best on her. As she sat down I took a deep quiet breath as I swirled my finger behind her head. Little puffs of air began to move her hair like fingers would. I knew I should be using magic, it was something that our parents have drilled into our head since we found out we could use it. But since there death it has been something that I have had to use more often then not. Today being one of those days. I sprined my wrist a week ago and it was still bad. I make sure to remove the wrap so none of them see it. I wrap it when they are away. I cant show I am injured, not when so much is happening. Oliver was graduating University soon. He has taken a buisness course and little Alisa is in kindergarten. Both so important and I know if I was injured none of them would want to attend school, Oliver most of all. I needed him to graduate, I needed him to get a good paying job so I could stop working so many jobs. For 5 years it’s been like this. We had my Grandparents help most of the time and that helped. Once Alisa got into school they have been away on vacation. Honestly don’t think they will be coming home anytime soon. They where out mothers parents. Dad was a whole new story. It was said he wasn’t even from this world. Not to sure where he was from but he loved us so much. Mom always made the joke of him being her manly demon but I don’t know. We know it was from him that we got our magic and he was always there to make sure we learned how to use it properly. “Molly are you alright?” Alisa asked. I looked at her and realised her barmaid was done and tied. She wa looking at me worried. “Of course, I’m just tired." I told her with a smile. I got up and held out my hand for her. She grabbed it and we walked down to the kitchen where I got her school bag together and walked out to the car. I dropped her off at school and raced off to my day job. My stumic growled but I ignored it. I didn’t have the money to buy anything. The breakfast this morning was from a generous customer last night. “Molly.” A voice called as I raced into the office. I didn’t realise how late it already was. Didn’t help I had 1t minutes to drop my sister off at school and get to work. Her school opened and started at 8:15 and I was always scheduled for 8:30 at a mall halfway across town. “Rachelle, you opening this morning.” I called once I realised whom it was. It was my second boss from the shop across from this one. I usually open for Sashina, a small family owned local children’s clothing store and then head over to Jacklyns, a vintage adult clothing store, for the closing shift. “Yeah that new girl I hired quit last night. So retarded.” She laughed as she stepped over and helped me fasten my warp. I smiled at her before I turned to unlocking to door. Finally got the door opened. I left it open but still in a closed state. I quickly looked around and sighed. Night shift must have been busy. I raced my stuff to the back and booted up the computer. I quickly got my morning paper work in order before heading to the floor to make it customer ready. With 10 minutes to spare I decided to do some stock before I had to get the tills in. I grabbed a few things and raced to the floor with them. The store opened beautiful. Everything was manager approved which made me happy. My crew worker however didn’t show up causing me to have to run around helping and ringing people in on my own. She finally called and told me she couldn’t make it in. I was angry but nicely told her a bit more notice would have been appreciated. I quickly got on the phone with a few other workers in amongst helping customers. I soon got help 3 hours in and was glad. By that time it was quiet but the store looked like a hurricane. We both worked hard to fix it up. The day was busy and I was so glad to walk out of there after 6 hours. I got some time to myself before heading over to my other job for 6 hours. That was hell but we made lots of money for the night. “Hey Molly can I get a ride home?” Coworked asked as I finnaly locked up the store. I looked at her with a smile, her boyfriend left her stranded again. “Absolutly Imree,”I said as I locked up and we walked in silence to my car. I placed my stuff in the back as I got in the driver seat. She sat in the passenger seat. “He says he is at work.” She finally spoke. “I told you what I thought of him, and I know how much you love him but come on Im. You deserve so much better.” I said with a sigh. She has been going out with this guy for 3 years but the last year has been the worst. He forgets about her constantly. Tells her how bad she looks and always puts her down in public. I don’t know how many times I have just about strangled the guy whenever he is around. He is just a rude stuck up brat. She was a kind and sweet girl. She didn’t need him. “I know Molly but what do I do. I fell like I would die without him.” She said. “It may seem like that at the start but I promise you it will be better in the long run.” “I know, just got to do it.” She spoke with a sigh. I nodded to her as I pulled into her house. She waved as she left the car. I watched till she was safely in the door before I pulled away. Two blocks down I pulled into the driveway. What shocked me was all the lights where out. I got out of the car removing my wrap and grabbed my bag. “Molly.” Alisa called as she came running over. I looked to see the babysitter sit there. Where was Oliver. I sighed as I grabbed her into my arms and looked at the babysitter. “Its okay Molly don’t worry about it. I was free anyways.” She smiled. “I know Callista but that’s not fare to you or me. He was suppose to be home.” I sighed. “His exams must be swaying on him.” “Hey don’t worry. Hell make it up to you.” She smiled at me. I had hoped so. The last few weeks things have been getting very difficult between us. It’s like he finally snapped from all the stress and does what he wants. “Molly, did you bring any good food?” Alisa asked looking at my bags. I shock my head as I said good bye to Callista. “I don’t have the money right now for that Alisa. I’m sorry, but hey sis’s paycheck has a bit of over time on it so maybe we can use that to go out to eat.” I told her trying to reverse the frown. “Okay.” She smiles happily. I made her a quick bite to eat before we both went to lay down. I was happy I had the night of. It was a rare treat but one much needed. Banging in the kitchen had me awake in seconds. I roled Alisa out from under me and quickly raced to the kitchen. I was appalled when I saw my brother staggering it. It was 1 in the morning and he looked drunk as f**k. I wanted to scream at him but knew that wouldn’t solve anything. I grabbed a few things from the fridge and gave them to him. He ate it happily before I dragged him to bed. I removed his shoes and socks and pulled if his blazer before I tucked him in. With a glass of water and aspirin on the bedside table and he blazer hung up I closed the door and walked to my room. I gathered a few things before walking down to the laundry room. I did our laundry folding stuff I couldn’t finish yesturday before starting to clean. The house got a good once over once a week. It was other I had the day off or the night depending on the shifts. I opened and closed at the mall 2 days a week. They work with me to make sure they correspond with each other. My other day job is a secretary for a local buisness, delt with meetings, organising functions and most of all sorting out paperwork for the bosses. Not the neatest or tidies people around. My nights involved graveyard work at mcdonalds. Sometimes I picked up two shift as a waiter at a local restaurant a friend owned but that was only when she was tight. The last few weeks she had been so it felt like I was at work 24 7. Tonight was the first night I didn’t have to go in. “Molly.” I heard her cry as I raced out of the bathroom I was cleaning. I raced to her room throwing the gloves I had on at her door before entering. She was crying causing my heart to falter as I wrapped my arms around her. “Relax little sis. I am here, nothing will happen. Oliver is here to.” I told her holding her night. “You where dieing.” She cried hugging me tight. “Nothing is going to happen to me. Oliver is here to protect us both.” I told her shocked. “But oliver was the one that did it.” She said. I was speechless, where would she have gotten that crazy idea from. Oliver would never hurt us. “It was a night mare. Oliver would never do that.” I spoke gently to her. There was no way Oliver would ever hurt me. I mean not intentionally at least. “Please don’t leave me.” She cried in my arms. “I am not going anywhere.” I told her gently as I laid beside her. She snuggled into me death gripping me. This dream really had her rilled up. With a sigh I got comfy beside her and fell asleep. I mean it wasn’t something I wanted to do but it happened. I was so glad I set the alarm early. I hear my phone go off from the bathroom I was working on last night. I quickly gathered Alisa and took her to Oliver’s room and laid her on the couch chair there. Racing out I got breakfast going before cleaning up the cleaning supplies from the bathroom. I placed theres in heat approved dishes before grabbing a quick bite and some lunch. Racing to my room I dulled up in half hour throwing my lunch in my bag and racing out the door. “Right on time.” A co worker called that met me at the door of the office I worked. I smiled at her as she reached her hands out to my wrist. She helped me fastened the wrap before grabbing the keys and opening the door. “Things are a little crazy.” I told her with a smile as she helped me in before passing me a coffee from the tray. “I bet, that brother of your is sure a partier.” She chuckled causing me to sigh. Well that just proved he was out partying. My coworker and her brother where good friends of ours. She was the real reason I got a job in the firm. I had no schooling but they sweet talked the bosses and they hired me. Now I work for one she works for the other and let me tell you the office is way neater. The first day I walked in here it was a hurricane. There was paper everywhere and no one hand any idea as to where there stuff was. Took me a week and we had the office working smoothly. I got atrait to work getting papers and such ready to go and as the boss I worked more for walked in I followed him to his desk. He loosened his tie took a sip of coffee before sitting on his chair. I waited patiently for him to finish all that before I placed items in front of him. We felt with it quickly and smoothly and in less time then it normally takes. He was on a role today and he new it. I smiled as I exited and began to file all the paperwork. “Molly my stapler?” a husky voice called. “Top right back corner drawer.” I called not taking my eyes of my screen from where I was typing an email. “Damn it.” He cursed. I got up and took him a role of staples. He just chuckled as I left. I went back to my computer. “Molly.” The other boss called “Printing.” I called after the print screen popped up on my partnera screen whom seemed to be missing. I felt with it so her boss could get what he needed. “Rosko, your 12 o’clock is walking in.” I called as I pressed sent on the email after reading it over quickly. “When there here send them right in. I’m ready.” Rosko called as his head popped around the door causing me to laugh slightly. Made his day for sure as I heard him chuckle happily. As if on que not even a second to spare in walked a beautiful older women. She was dressed nicely and smiling plesintly. “Good morning Marline, he’s all ready for you.” I spoke gently as I rose. She looked at me and widened her smile. “That must mean he has got good news for me.” She said as she strode in. I just smiled before I went back to call taking. After a few minutes I heard a large bang causing me to worry a bit. There was yelling happening as my page button lit up. I sighed gently as I fixed myself and walked in. I carefully opened the door as I saw Marline throwing things around. Man this meant a longer day for me and I have a waitress shift right after this. I looked over at Rosko and shook my head. “Marline what has Rosko done.” I spoke gently. “That man that pays your cheque is a big cheap skape.” She cried unhappy. I sighed. What did he do, she was out best customer. I looked at him before walking over to her. “Marline I’m sure my boss has made a small mistake. Please give me a moment to talk with him Nd sort out the issue.” I gently spoke. Marlins huffed as she sat back down and I walked over to Rosko's computer. I mentally slapped myself. I knew I should have come in and made sure he had the right one open. I quickly opened the right screen for him. “All fixed.” Rosko spoke with a gentle sigh. I left gently after giving her a smile. I just saved us from losing a very well paying customer. My coworker held her hand up as she was still focused on something on her computer. I gently smacked it with my own before I sat down and started on a few other emails. “You my dear have quite a talent.” Marline spoke with a smile before she walked out. “Molly.” Rosko called. I sighed as I quickly finished what I was working on and ran into his office. “Yes Sir.” I spoke gently. He motioned with his head around the room. I sighed and began clean up. It took many hours to get the office back to the way it was. I quickly raced out once done and locked up. I was going to be late for my other job. No supper for me today. Glad I was able to grab an apple and some pepperoni sticks this morning. Normally better prepared but fell asleep with little sis. “your running late.” My friend called as I raced into the restaurant. I nodded as I raced to the bathroom and quickly changed into a black pencil skirt and my white collar long sleeve shirt. I quickly tired my tie before running to a locker. “Had a temper tantrum customer.” I sighed. “Girl your going to worked to the ground if you don’t alow down.”My friend said worried. “Just a little longer and Oliver will have a good job I can ease up.” I told her grabbing some menus ready to serve the customers coming in. “That brother of you better do all the work and send you for vacation.” She chuckled as she went to clean a table. The night was busy which was torcher. My entire body was exhausted as we locked up. I waver to my friend before walking to my car. I opened my car before I found my phone I called Oliver. “Sorry cant get to the phone right now send me a text.” His voice recording called. I sighed as I got into the driver seat. I was actually tired and would have loved for him to drive me home. I at least hope he was at home. The care roared to life as I took my time getting home. Stumbling I to the house I actually fell. This cause alit of nose that poor Alisa heard it. She was rubbing her eyes as she came out of her bedroom. I looked up to see the fear in her eyes as she came running. “Oliver.” Alisa cried at the top of her lungs as she helped me sit up. “Its okay Alisa. Just give me a second.” I told her from where I lay. “Your hurt.” She began to cry and I realised I forgot to remove my wrap. Oh boy here we go, this won’t be good. “Oliver.” “Easy sis I’m okay I promise.” I told her gently as I tried to rise. It took a bit but I got to my feet and took a few steps. I went to grab my bags but that was a bad idea. This caused my head to spin. “Molly.” Oliver called as he wrapped his arms around me. He waisted no time as he pulled a chair over and placed me on it. “Molly look at me.” “I’m fine just give me a minute or two.” I spoke a little out of it. “Did you eat?” Ha and how do I answer that. He instantly knew and got up to make something. It didn’t take him long and he had it infront of me before he took my clothing up stairs. Alisa sat beside me as I slowly chewed the food given. I didn’t even make it through part of the sand which before I felt myself fall. “Molly.” Alisa screamed as my head hit the table. Oh this was not good.
