When Emma entered Aiden’s study, she found him standing by the large window, his back to her. His hands were in his pockets, his suit crisp as always.
She closed the door behind her. “Are you going to congratulate me?”
Aiden turned slowly, his dark eyes unreadable. “For what?”
Emma smirked. “For giving the media something far more interesting than us.”
Aiden studied her for a moment before speaking. “You did not tell me you were planning this.”
Emma tilted her head. “Would you have stopped me?”
Aiden walked toward his desk, placing his hands on the surface. “No. But I would have made sure you did not leave a trail.”
Emma crossed her arms. “I do not make mistakes.”
Aiden’s gaze darkened slightly. “Neither do I.”
For a long moment, they simply stared at each other. The tension between them thickened, but neither backed down.
Then Aiden sighed and straightened. “You have thrown Davis into chaos. He will retaliate.”
Emma smiled. “Let him try.”
Aiden smirked slightly. “You enjoy this, do you not?”
Emma met his gaze. “I enjoy justice.”
Aiden’s phone buzzed. He glanced at the screen before looking back at her. “Your ex-fiancé is here.”
Emma’s smile widened. “Perfect.”
Davis stormed into the mansion, his face tight with anger.
Bryce led him into the sitting room, but Davis barely acknowledged him. His sharp gaze locked onto Emma the moment she appeared.
“What the hell did you do?” Davis hissed.
Emma walked in slowly, her expression calm. “Good morning to you too, Davis.”
Davis clenched his jaw. “You leaked the story, did you not?”
Emma smirked. “I do not know what you are talking about.”
“Do not play games with me, Emma!” Davis snapped. “The whole world knows about Sophia now! Her career is ruined!”
Emma tilted her head. “So?”
Davis stared at her in disbelief. “So? This affects me too!”
Emma crossed her arms. “You should have thought about that before you slept with her.”
Davis ran a frustrated hand through his hair. “This was personal. You had no right—”
Emma cut him off. “No right?” She let out a cold laugh. “You cheated on me. You humiliated me. And you think I have no right?”
Davis exhaled sharply. “Emma, listen to me. This is not just about us. This is business. My company—”
“Your company?” Emma scoffed. “You mean Globe Pictures? The one that blacklisted me to push Sophia’s career?”
Davis flinched slightly, but he quickly covered it up. “I was doing what was best for the company.”
Emma’s eyes burned with fury. “No, Davis. You were doing what was best for you.”
Davis took a step closer. “Emma, if you do not fix this, I will—”
“You will what?” Aiden’s voice cut through the tension.
Both Davis and Emma turned toward the doorway.
Aiden leaned against the frame, his expression completely calm, but his presence filled the entire room.
Davis stiffened. “This is between me and Emma.”
Aiden smirked. “Not anymore.”
Davis glared at him. “You are defending her?”
Aiden stepped forward, standing beside Emma. “She is my wife. I do not take kindly to people threatening her.”
Davis’ fists clenched. “You think marrying her changes anything?”
Aiden tilted his head slightly. “It changes everything.”
Davis scoffed. “Emma, you think Aiden is on your side? You are just a game to him.”
Emma smiled. “Then we are both playing, aren’t we?”
Davis’ eyes darkened. “You will regret this.”
Emma took a slow step forward. “No, Davis. The only one who will regret this… is you.”
Davis’ jaw tightened. His eyes flickered to Aiden one last time before he turned sharply and walked out.
The moment the door slammed behind him, Emma let out a slow breath.
She turned to Aiden. “You did not have to interfere.”
Aiden smirked. “I know. But I could not resist.”
Emma shook her head. “You enjoy this too much.”
Aiden’s gaze flickered with amusement. “And you do not?”
Emma did not answer.
Because they both knew the truth.
She was enjoying this.
More than she had ever expected.
That night, Emma sat on her bed, scrolling through the latest headlines.
Davis was in full damage control. His PR team had released a weak statement, but the media was not backing down.
Sophia had yet to make a statement.
Emma’s phone buzzed.
Isabel: “Step one is complete. Are you ready for the next move?”
Emma’s fingers hovered over the keyboard.
She glanced toward the window, where the city lights glowed in the distance.
Her revenge was far from over.
With a slow smile, she typed back.
Emma: “Let’s do it.”
She placed her phone down, feeling a rush of satisfaction.
Davis thought today was bad.
He had no idea what was coming next.
“Mr. Brooks, Davis Williams is outside again.”
Bryce’s voice was calm, but there was a slight edge of irritation beneath his usual professionalism.
Aiden did not look up from his desk. He continued flipping through the documents in front of him, completely unbothered.
“Turn him away.”
Bryce hesitated. “He insists on seeing you and Mrs. Brooks. He is causing a scene.”
Aiden’s fingers paused on the page he was reading. His dark eyes lifted slightly.
“Let him cause a scene,” he said, his voice smooth and dangerous. “If he has a death wish, I will grant it.”
Bryce gave a small nod. “Understood.”
He turned to leave, but before he could step out of the study, Emma appeared at the doorway.
She was dressed in an elegant black dress, her arms folded across her chest, her expression unreadable.
“I will talk to him,” she said.
Aiden finally looked up, his sharp gaze locking onto hers.
“You are wasting your time,” he said simply.
Emma smirked. “Maybe. But it will be fun.”
Aiden leaned back in his chair, watching her carefully. “Do not give him more credit than he deserves.”
Emma tilted her head. “You sound jealous.”
Aiden’s lips curved slightly, amusement flickering in his dark eyes. “Jealousy is for men who feel threatened. I do not concern myself with ants.”
Emma chuckled softly. “Then let me deal with this little ant.”
Aiden did not argue. He simply gestured toward the door. “Do not waste too much energy. He is not worth it.”
Emma smiled and walked past Bryce, heading downstairs.
She could already hear Davis’ voice as she approached the main entrance.
“This is ridiculous! I am not leaving until I see Emma!”
The guards stood firmly in front of the door, blocking him. Davis’ face was red with frustration, his hands clenched into fists.
When he saw Emma approaching, his expression shifted into something desperate, something pleading.
“Emma,” he said, trying to soften his voice. “We need to talk.”
Emma stopped at the top of the marble staircase, looking down at him like he was nothing more than an inconvenience.
“I do not recall inviting you,” she said coldly.
Davis let out a frustrated breath. “Emma, please. This is getting out of hand. The media is going crazy. I need you to fix this.”
Emma raised an eyebrow. “Fix this?” She let out a small laugh. “I did not break anything, Davis. You did.”
Davis took a step forward, but the guards immediately moved to block him. He stopped, gritting his teeth.
“You think this is funny?” he hissed. “You are ruining my career, my reputation!”
Emma tilted her head. “And you did not think of mine when you humiliated me?”
Davis clenched his jaw. “It was not supposed to happen like this.”
Emma scoffed. “Oh, I see. You wanted to keep your perfect image while sneaking around with Sophia behind my back?”
Davis’ face darkened. “Emma, if you keep pushing me, I will.”
