After many moon seasons of being the pack sweetheart's secret lover, I was stunned to receive great news from the pack doctors. I was pregnant for him. Nathan insisted on keeping our relationship private— at least until he finally got into the position of alpha after a successful campaign. He claimed the news would sway his campaign but I knew he was ashamedly of me. I was an omega, the weakest of our kind. He was strong, handsome and popular. Everything I wasn't. I thought the child would be enough to convince him but when I caught him having s*x with my stepsister, Raine, my entire reality crashed before my eyes. One second, I was struggling to catch my breath and the next, I was bleeding. My wolf was too weak to carry the weight of his betrayal and I lost the baby. Nick tossed me aside like a used napkin and went on to announce Raine as his mate.

When I saw the celebration lights and the cheers, something in my changed. I tried to expose him, no one believed me, he promised to have my head ripped off my body as soon as the night dimmed. I thought all hope was lost until he came. Lycan king Alejandro. He saw the venom in my eyes and the thirst for revenge over my lost pup. He felt a bond with me. The mate bond. Something that shouldn't be. He offered a deal— being his in exchange for protection from Nathan and revenge. I accepted.

I was done being the shy omega behind the curtains, this time, I'd get revenge.

CAMILLA “Congratulations, Camilla, the tests came out positive. You're pregnant.” The moment the doctor said the words, a low squeal of excitement escaped my lips as I circled my fingers repeatedly over my belly bump. Heavy puffs of fractured breaths rolled out of my nostrils as my chest heaved. I couldn't believe my ears. Her fingers reached forward, passing the pregnancy results to me. I took it happily, beaming with smiles and a ton of joy I tried so hard to conceal but failed. My eyes ran over the pregnancy slip slowly till it landed on the huge positive text written in bold green letters. I felt like jubilating right there but before I gave into thoughts, her voice came shortly. “The scans we conducted show that your womb is very weak at this moment and any slight inconvenience could make you miscarry. I recommend stopping tedious tasks to ensure your baby survives.” My heartbeat increased. “I-i understand. I’ll make sure to relay the message to my mate.” My lips pulled into a shaky smile as I felt the joy flapping in my chest lessen. My wolf, aurora, who was once howling in excitement now purred as she tried to get a hold of my mate, Nathan, through the mind link. ‘I’ve got to speak to you, Nathan.’ I sent and awaited his response. My heart dropped into my stomach. Bile burned at the back of my throat as I sucked in a breath, sighing deeply. He didn't respond. For the past few weeks, Nathan hadn't been responding to my mind links. I didn't take it to heart considering the amount of workload he faced as the future Alpha of the Dire howl pack but now that the message I sent him regarding my pregnancy and the health of our baby didn't get a reply, I couldn't help but worry. The soft silence in the doctor's office and the heavy smell of antiseptic in the air wrapped around me like a blanket as I waited patiently until all my hopes of getting a reply dimmed. It was obvious he wasn't going to give me a reply. He never did. With a shaky smile tugging at the edge of my lips, I muttered. "Thanks for the help, doctor." And with that, I stepped out of the room. The hallway leading towards the elevator stretched endlessly in front of me as I inched towards it with soft strides. I traced gentle steps towards the elevator and just as I stepped in, a sharp, cutting scent launched into my nose. I paused in my tracks almost immediately. I knew that smell. It was familiar. ‘It's our mate’ My wolf, Aurora beamed at me as I reared my gaze at the hallway. ‘It possibly can't be him, he is probably in a meeting right now g—.’ I was about to send the message to her when all of a sudden, the scent hit me again and this time around, I felt a familiar presence. Was it his? I shook my head almost immediately. Whenever Nathan didn't respond to my mind link messages, he was probably in a business meeting or was busy. He wouldn't deliberately ignore me and besides, what could he be doing here in a hospital? I shoved Aurora's messages aside as I flashed my gaze at the control buttons of the elevator and typed in the number of the floor I was headed. I was just about to take my eyes off the hallways when all of a sudden, I saw the back figure of a man. He was dressed in a grey suit standing close to a lady who had her glossy blonde hair. My heart tightened in my chest at the sights as doubtful thoughts waved into my mind. Was that Nathan? The man who's back I glanced at had the same tall, towering figure as my mate Nathan. He had the same hair color as him too and the lady standing beside him looked just like my step sister, Raine. ‘Could it be, Nathan?’ I sent a reply almost immediately. ‘I caught the scent so it has to be him right?’ Aurora’s whimper sent a chill down my spine. I could already feel her melting into a state of despair. ‘It could've been a mistake with our smelling instincts. Whenever Nathan doesn't reply, it has to be that he was busy.” I sent it to her as my heart raced in my chest. When the elevator doors chimed open, I stepped out and paced down the hallway leading towards the door. I was halfway through the hallway when I overheard the conversation of a group of nurses nearby. "Did you hear? The Elders are already discussing potential matches for him." a voice spoke as I paused in my tracks. I could already tell who they were talking about. It was Nathan. He still hadn't announced our mate bond to the pack. He told me he would do that on the day of his coronation as alpha.l "Seriously? But he hasn’t even—" "Exactly. That’s why they’re moving fast. They want someone with status, not just some random girl hanging around." My heart lurched in my chest at the sound of their words. I was an omega and omegas were one of the weakest wolves. Growing up, I'd always hated the fact that I got to be the weak one in a pack where all the she-wolves my age were of high ranking stages and I was stuck over here, at the very bottom. When I came to the Dire Howl pack, everyone treated me like the outcast I was. I thought it was their normal way of treating foreigners but I was wrong. When other wolves my age came, they were embraced, pampered and treated nicely and it was at that moment that I realized the reason they doted on me wasn't because I was an outcast but because I was an Omega. Among those she wolves was my stepsister, Riane. She was one of the first young wolves to get her wolf, with golden brown hair, hazel eyes and a face that could make a man swoon, I could say she had it all. Men often lined up at the door of our house seeking her hand in marriage but what still stunned me was her knack for rejecting them. To me, it seemed she had a lover, someone she hadn't revealed to the pack yet but either way, I was happy for her. Despair clung to my airways for a long period of minutes as I walked out of the hospital with thoughts of Nathan circling my mind and just as the cold chilly breeze of the evening braced my sides, I sent a message to Aurora. ‘Could it be him?’ I asked, my pulse quickening. ‘It is him. I know our mate’s scent,’ She whimpered. ‘No... it could be stress messing with us,’ I replied, hoping. ‘Then why does my heart ache like this?’ I had no answer—only fear blooming in my chest. When I finally arrived at the pack house, the hallway leading in smelled like pine wood and cedarwood. The sweet smell surged into my nostrils as I took a turn towards his chambers. As I got there, the guards who were standing stiffly by the corner, turned their gazes in my direction. I nearly froze on the spot as I walked past them and walked in. The door made a low creak and I expected to find Nathan in the room but as I searched around, I realized it wasn't there. Just then, I received a mind link message from him. ‘Sorry for not responding, I had some pack business I had to attend to. Nat.’ My heart squeezed in my chest as I forced my lips into a smile. It had been weeks since he'd responded to any of my mind links, most times he wouldn't even come back to his chambers till the next day. I wasn't supposed to wait behind so pack members wouldn't notice but as I stared at the pregnancy result slip and at my baby bump, I decided I was going to take the risk. I got up on the seat and strolled into Nathan's room. I got up on the bed and closed my eyes and in no time, I found myself dozing up. I was going to wait for him so the minute he stepped into the pack house, I would be there to break the good news to him. I was halfway into sleeping when I suddenly heard a sound. It was the door. The chiming sound it made jerked me out of sleep. Hot beads of sweat powdered my forehead as I pulled my eyelids open slowly. Could it be that all of this was in my mind and I was just imagining it? Before I could ponder on the question, I heard another sound and this time around, I was convinced that someone had stepped into the apartment. A smile spread on my lips as I got up from the bed and clutched the pregnancy test slip tightly in my hands in preparation to show him. My heart was beating faster than it had ever done and each beat came faster than the last. My fingers circled around my belly bump and I inched towards the door. I gripped the doorknob and was about to pull it open when all of a sudden, I heard a sound. A moan perhaps. My breath hitched in my throat as my fingers trailed away from my stomach. Was I hearing things? Could this really be what I thought it was? Before I could start pondering on the questions, I heard it again. And again. It was soft, breathless and undeniably real. With each moan that rippled through the air, my stomach twisted and churned as pain lashed through me. I grip the doorknob tighter as I pull it open, only to receive the greatest shock of my entire life. Right there, standing opposite me was the figure of my stepsister, Riane, and my mate, Nathan. The blood in my veins ran cold as my legs wobbled. I grabbed a nearby lamp for external support as I glared at them. I couldn't believe he could do this to me. Nathan's fingers trailed over Raine's skin as his fingers fondled her breasts while f*****g her from behind. “Tell me you want it,” Nathan's voice rolled out as a sharp pain logged in my abdomen and I bit back the urge to groan. My wolf was beginning to hurt at the sight and since I wasn't able to tame her, her pain was running through my veins. “Oh, yes Nathan. I want you all up in my p***y, filling it with your dick.” My stepsister groaned as I tried my best to stay quiet but the lamp on the table I was holding onto crashed into the floor and as the sound of the flashing lights died out, their eyes shifted over to me. Nathan's eyes widened for a split second before his expression hardened. His voice came out cold, clipped—forced. "What the hell are you doing here at this time of the day?" My stomach twisted again and as I opened my lips to respond, “I came here to—” Raine, who was tugging on the hand of her bra straps, pulled closer to him, “To what, Cam? To spy on us? Nathan here hinted me on the useless fling he used to share with you in the past. So sad. I thought it'd have popped up in your head that he'd never pick you for a mate but I guess I always have to burst that bubble, dear sister. I never knew you were that gullible. Patheti—” I wanted to cut her short but Nathan was faster. "Don't mind her. She's..." I held my breath. And then it came. My tag. "Nothing." He completed as he shoved her against the wall, placing soft kisses against her neck. Her moans resumed, fueling my disgust as I felt a dull ache cut through me. I began to feel a wetness in my thighs. I traced the trail. And I saw it. Blood. No. This couldn’t be happening. My knees soon went out of energy as I crashed face flat onto the floor. “Help me Nathan! I'm losing my baby!” I cried out countless times and, after my seventh cry, he was about to turn towards me when my stepsister pulled him towards the door. “Let's leave, it's obvious this is another one of her pathetic plans to get attention. Isn't it?” I expected Nathan to turn her down and rush over to help me, but instead he turned away, stepping out of the room as my vision dimmed and slowly, my pleas for help faded away and everything faded into darkness.
