"As you all know, Grayson High has been chosen to host this year's All Stars Writers Awards Competition. It's every students dream to win this competition. It's just sad that Grayson High has never won this competition. Let's make this year a different one. This year, it isn't just gonna be an article but an entire novel. Enough time will be given to participants in order to write the novel. The novel participants are to write must be about the topic "Domestic Violence and it's effects. We've heard tons of stories concerning this very topic and they are very devastating. You can change the world with your pen, you all know that. All those that wish to participate in the competition should come to my office during recess and sign up. More information will be displayed on the notice board down the hallway. That will be all for now. Have a nice day, students." Miss Williams addressed the class and left.
Ava sat for a while , reflecting on what Miss Wiilliams had addressed. Then skylar walked up to her and said, "I do hope you aren't planning to sign up for the competition. It won't work."
Ava sighed and tried ignoring her.
"Scholarship students do not participate in such competitions. FYI, they have boundaries set by the school." Skylar said, rudely. ( FYI means For Your Information).
"Hey, what's your problem?" Ava asked Skylar, fuming with anger. "Woah! The new girl is already displaying madness. I love this." A male student said.
Skylar bursted into laughter and said, "If I were you, sweetheart, I wouldn't do what you are planning on doing. Remember you are on scholarship. You know, you are still open to lose it."
Immediately, ava remembered the things her mother had warned her about that can cost her scholarship. She then left the classroom immediately to avoid more trouble. Her classmates laughed at her as she left. To them, skylar had knocked her down.
"Ava, how could you get angry so easily? Remember, you are in scholarship." Ava said to herself. That's ava for you. She loved talking to herself. Then she sighed and said, "About the competition, I think I should give it a try. Miss Williams speech about the competition was really encouraging. I think that lady uses black magic. Her words changed my view of the competition."
Then, ava heard a sound of applause coming towards her. To her surprise, it was della.
"That's the spirit, ava. That's more like it. I knew you would change your mind." Della said.
"Della, you startled me. How long have you been here anyway?" Ava asked.
"Sorry I startled you. Girl, I'm so glad you finally changed your mind." Della replied.
"But....."
"No buts, ava. No buts." Della cut in.
"You know, I have always loved Miss Williams. She's the best. A lot of students derive motivation from her." Della continued.
"Yeah, she is." Ava said.
"So when are you gonna sign up. I'm guessing during recess." Della said.
"Yeah, recess." Ava replied.
"Cool but you are supposed to be there as early as possible. It's almost recess. I know a lot of people will rush for the sign up. To be the first person Miss Williams will attend to and to show your seriousness, you have to be there before it gets crowded." Della advised.
"That's right, della. So, I'll get going now then." Ava said. "I would love to see you sign up, ava but you see, I'm quite busy with something during recess. There's this huge science project I'm currently working on with someone and it will help accelerates our grades." Della said.
"I totally understand, della. I will get going now. See you later." Ava said. As ava walked away, della exclaimed.
"Oh no!" Della said.
"What's that? What's the problem?" Ava stopped and said.
"This is a catastrophe." Della replied.
"What is?" Ava asked, curiously.
Then with a lower voice, della said, "You're stained ava and it's really bad."
"Oh no. I have to get myself cleaned up immediately. Good thing I brought sanitary pads." Ava said.
"And good thing, I brought an extra skirt with me. It was actually a mistake though." Della said. "I'll go get it." Della continued. Immediately, the school bell rang. It was time for recess.
"Ava, I'll meet you in the convenience, alright? People can't see you like this. Get going." Della said and hurried to the her classroom to get the skirt. Ava also ran to the convenience, covering her back with a book. Within a very short time, della was back with the extra skirt.
" It was a good thing I brought this skirt along with me today. Just wear this okay?" Della said.
"Thanks della. This means a lot. I think I'm late for the sign ups already. Maybe this is a sign that I shouldn't sign up for the competition so I'll forget about it." Ava said.
"What's that? That doesn't make sense ava. You know what, I'll go sign you up. You don't need to worry." Della said.
"Are you sure about that? Remember, your science project." Ava asked.
"I'll have it rescheduled." Della replied.
"Oh, you are the best, della. I'm so grateful to God i met you." Ava said.
"Glad to help, ava. Alright, I'll get going." Della said and left.
Everyone in attendance to sign up for the competition was shocked to see della, including Miss Wiilliams.
"Della Darlington, are you here to sign up for the competition? " Miss Wiilliams asked.
"Hm-hm." Della replied.
"It's not applicable to science students, della. Only the Arts." Miss Williams said.
"No, not me actually. I'm sign up for someone. There's a problem right now so she can't make it. " Della explained.
"I'm sorry della but that won't work. Your friend has to come sign up by herself or wait to next year." Miss Wiilliams informed.
"Please, fill the forms given to you and submit when you're through. Remember to go through it thoroughly before filling anything." Miss Wiilliams instructed the other students. Della had no choice but to tell Miss Williams the problem on ground. She decided to tell her privately.
"Oh is that so?" Miss Wiilliams asked after della had narrated the entire story to her.
"Yes, Miss Williams. She's currently cleaning herself up in the convenience." Della said.
"Ava Miller, I know her. She's my student. Alright then, I'll give you a form to fill. Please, go through it very well before signing anything. You can leave any personal question on the form. I'll have ava fill them later." Miss Williams said.
"Thanks a lot , Miss Williams." Della said.
"Anytime, dear." Miss Wiilliams said.
Meanwhile, ava was busy cleaning herself in the convenience.
"I'm so grateful to God I found della. She's a huge blessing to me. She's so cool. I do hope she makes up with oliver. "Ava soliloquized.
After some time, she noticed she had been in the convenience for a while.
"I've gotta go now. Recess is about to end." Ava said. After she has left the ladies convenience, something distracted her from the male's convenience.
"Ava, stop it. Keep going back to class." She said to herself but she couldn't help it anyways. She was too curious to know what was going on in the Male's convenience. It sounded like someone was having an argument with someone on phone. Then she walked really slowly and peeped at the door. It was Aiden, the leader of the so called Penta-Gigantus gang. He was having an argument with someone on phone call.
"Mom, I can't, okay? Don't you pity yourself for once? After all you suffered in the hands of that man, we suffered in the hands of that man, you still show him pity." He said.
"It's because of that man I am like this today. I now portray his attributes to people but I will not stop because I didn't get any love from my own father. Why should they get any love from me? Mom, don't stress yourself out visiting that man. He should remaining in prison. He deserves to be there." He continued.
After some time, he said again, " That's absolutely not my problem, mom. I hate dad. I hate him and I can do anything to eliminate him."
Immediately, ava gasped loudly.
"Hey, who's there?" Aiden asked angrily.
"Mom, I'll call you later." He said and hung up the call. Ava was scared. She tried not to make any noise as she slowly went away but due to the slippery floor, ava slipped and fell, making a loud noise.
"Someone's definitely there." Aiden said angrily and came out of the convenience, and saw ava on the floor.
"You! We're you spying? Are you his accomplice? What's are you doing in the male's convenience?" Aiden asked, fuming.
"No one sent me, ava. I'm so sorry. I didn't mean to eavesdrop." Ava pleaded, still on the ground. Aiden then walked up to ava and kick her hard and dragged her to the convenience.
" Aiden, you're hurting me. Stop it." Ava cried. Aiden laughed and locked the door. " Someone, please, help me!" Ava cried aloud.
"I warned you the other day that you should never get into my way, didn't I?" Aiden said. He bagan hitting her and throwing punches on her face. Ava was helpless. She couldn't escape. Aiden closed all the windows so no one could here Ava's cry for help.
"Someone, please help me." Ava shouted the more. All Aiden did was exactly what he watched his father do to his mother years back. Ava managed to escape from the WC but was too weak to break free from the male's convenience.
"Aiden, please stop this." Ava said with a very weak tone. After a few seconds, she collapsed. Aiden was alarmed. He tapped her to confirm if she was dead.
"No! She can't......." Aiden was confused. For the first time, he had tortured someone to collapse. He decided to run away, leaving ava on the ground.
Della was shocked. She couldn't find ava anywhere.
"Could she still be in the convenience? I've gotta find out." Della said. On her way to the convenience, Aiden bumped into her with haste.
"Out of my way!" He said, pushing her aside.
"Why is he running?" Della wondered. She quickly went to the convenience and didn't see ava there. She noticed someone lying on the floor in the male's convenience.
"What's that?" Della asked herself as she slowly walked to the male's convenience. She screamed after seeing ava in the ground, unconscious.
"Ava! Ava!! What happened here?" Della screamed. Della quickly ran for backup .
"Help! Help!! There's trouble." She exclaimed.
"What's the problem?" Some students asked.
"It's ava. She's in the convenience, lying on the floor...........lifeless!" Della broke the news.
"What do you mean lifeless?" Mr Martins Vans, the Proprietor of the school asked.
