Dave's POV The air in the room was charged, and it didn't look like it would be dwindling anytime soon. It had been more than thirty minutes since it had happened, but nothing much had changed. The atmosphere was thick with tension, it was a miracle how I hadn't suffocated yet. Pin drop silence settled in the living room. Save for the tick tock of the clock hung high up on the wall, nothing else reached my ears. The room was so silent, I could hear my heart thumping loudly in my ribcage. The vital organ seemed to be increasing its speed by the minute, and no matter how many breathing exercises I tried, none of them worked.
