The moments leading up to me gaining consciousness had been weird, but just when I thought I'd gotten my fair share of it all, I just had to receive the greatest shock of my life.
I blinked back a couple of times, pressing my eyes tighter each time. A tiny part of me hoped that maybe if I did it well, the gathering would disappear and I wouldn't have to deal with the question he had just asked me.
