Kai’s POV:
My painful body seems to freeze, and I find it hard to breathe as I see the familiar tattoos peek around the neck from under the jacket.
What... is he doing here?
“Who the hell are you? Go your own way otherwise don’t blame us for getting you in trouble.” Wret says loudly in warning, clearly not scared that someone might report him since he controls the entire area.
A wince leaves my lips as his loud voice hits a nerve in my head.
The sound of my wince seems to get Hayden’s attention as his cold eyes stare down at mine with disdain, anger, and something else that I can’t understand.
“State your price. I want this guy.” He says, his voice as cold as a sharp weapon as his eyes slide back at them.
Everyone seems to fall silent at his words, including me.
My heart skips a beat as I process his words.
He what?
“The f**k did you just say?” I hiss at Hayden, only to get straight out ignored by him as he stares at them.
“He owes you guys money, right? How much is it?” He asks nonchalantly, taking off his helmet and ruffling his clean silver hair that shines in the dark.
Bern snorts mockingly. “Do you take us for a fool ? He owes us a big amount. Not something you can pay for, so get lost.”
Hayden leans back against his bike and crosses his hands over his chest. “Warner !”
Immediately, a men comes out of the dark, dressed in all black body bodyguard suit. I watch with a frown as the men walks towards Bert.
Where the hell did this men come from?
There was no one here except us just now.
“This is a ten million check. We just want him.” The men, Warner says, holding out the check towards them and tilting his head at me.
My brain stops functioning for a second before I process what’s happening and glare at Hayden. “I don’t need your money, you bastard! So take your check and get lost.”
This can’t be seriously happening.
Utter shame and humiliation fill me, and I clench my jaw in pain as I manage to stand up on my feet.
His cold eyes slide to mine, and he smirks arrogantly. “Would you rather get beaten by them for money everyday?”
My face heats up in shame and embarrassment as I struggle to stand straight. “It’s none of your business!”
“It’s not up to you to decide whether it’s my business or not.” He says with a cold edge, and I am about to f*****g snap when I feel a hard push on my back.
My eyes widen, and I am caught off guard as the push sends me stumbling forward, and I end up groaning in pain as I hit something hard, making my wounds burn.
“He is yours.” Wern’s voice echoes in the silent alley, and my heart skips a beat as I open my eyes and realize that I didn’t end up on the ground but instead pressed against someone.
Wern’s words ring in my ears, and I am rendered speechless that this fucker actually agreed to it.
This has got to be a nightmare.
A cold chuckle enters my ears, and I pause.
My eyes trail up, and I find a pair of grey eyes staring down at me with fire and smugness and a billion dollar smirk that will for sure make girls fall to his feet, but it only fills me with more rage because I can see the mockery in his face.
“Gonna call me master, little tiger?”
I want to snap his neck as I feel my neck heating up without any reason, hearing what he called me just now.
“The f**k do you want, Davenport?” I hiss against his face, and his eyes trail down to my lips, making me freeze for a moment before his eyes trail up to meet my gaze. “Depends on what you have to offer.”
Why do I have such a bad feeling about this?
I didn’t realize I was holding my breath until his eyes moved away from my lips. “Quite messing around and be serious for a god damn moment. Why did you help me?”
“Why did I help you?” His hand trails around my waist, making me freeze in my spot as he pulls me close. My eyes widen, and my breath hitches slightly at the sudden action. “Because... I want to own you.”
Utter disgust fills me realising the close proximity between us and I clench my jaw.
I try to take a step back and push him away, but it doesn’t really go that way since I am injured and he uses force to grab the back of my neck and keep me pressed against him. “I have been thinking about that kiss. And guess what?”
That kiss?
My mind wanders back to the kiss we had last week, and my mind goes blank for a second before I remember the taste of mint and smoke that his lips tasted like that night.
I shake my head slightly as I shoo those images away.
What the?
Why am I thinking about it?
His face leans close until he is almost touching my lips. His stormy grey eyes trail down to my lips, and my heart skips a beat seeing the strange emotion and hunger in his eyes.
“It turns out that I want more.”
