💎THE BILLIONAIRE’S UNEXPECTED WIFE
CHAPTER ONE — BEFORE EVERYTHING CHANGED
Scene 1 — The Brighton House
The sound of laughter filled the small Brighton family home.
It was a Saturday morning, and sunlight slipped through the
curtains of the living room, falling across a table covered with
books, ballet ribbons, medical textbooks, and—most
importantly to Marinette—fashion sketches.
Marinette Brighton sat on the floor with her legs crossed,
completely focused on the sketchbook in her lap.
Her long burgundy hair fell over one shoulder as she carefully
drew the outline of a dress.
She erased one section.
Redrew it.
Then frowned.
"No... that's not right."
She tilted the paper.
"Maybe the sleeves should be longer."
Across the room, her younger twin brother Joseph looked up
from his medical textbook.
"You've been staring at that drawing for almost an hour."
Marinette didn't look at him.
"Because I'm trying to make it perfect."
Joseph rolled his eyes.
"You always say that."
"And you always complain."
"I'm not complaining."
"You are."
"I'm observing."
Marinette finally looked up.
"You're annoying."
Joseph smiled.
"So are you."
A loud voice suddenly came from the hallway.
"GUYS!"
Josephine rushed into the room holding a pair of ballet shoes.
Marinette immediately covered her ears.
"Why are you shouting?"
"Because I'm happy!"
Josephine spun around dramatically.
"I got accepted!"
Joseph immediately stood.
"Accepted where?"
"Into the summer ballet program!"
Marinette jumped to her feet.
"Josephine!"
She ran toward her sister and hugged her.
"That's amazing!"
Joseph smiled.
"I told you you'd get in."
Josephine grinned.
"I'm going to become a famous ballerina one day."
Their mother, who had been listening from the kitchen, walked
into the room.
"You three are already planning your entire futures."
Marinette smiled.
"Why not?"
Their father followed behind her, carrying a cup of coffee.
He looked at the three children.
"Joseph wants to become a doctor."
Joseph nodded.
"A cardiologist."
"Josephine wants to become a famous dancer."
Josephine lifted her chin proudly.
"And Marinette..."
Their father looked at the sketchbook in her hands.
"...wants to become a fashion designer."
Marinette smiled.
"Yes."
Her father studied her for a moment.
Then he smiled.
"Then we'll see where life takes all three of you."
None of them knew it yet.
But life was about to take Marinette somewhere none of them
could have imagined.
Somewhere filled with wealth.
Secrets.
Betrayal.
And a billionaire who would completely change her life.
Scene 2 — A Dream on Paper
That afternoon, Marinette sat beneath the large tree behind
their house.
Her sketchbook was open again.
She drew another dress.
Then another.
She imagined herself standing in a huge fashion studio.
Her name printed across the wall.
MARINETTE BRIGHTON — CREATIVE DIRECTOR.
She smiled.
"One day."
A voice interrupted her.
"You're dreaming again."
Marinette looked over her shoulder.
Josephine was standing behind her.
"You're always sneaking up on me."
Josephine laughed and sat beside her.
"Let me see."
Marinette turned the sketchbook toward her.
Josephine stared.
"Wow."
"You like it?"
"I love it."
Marinette smiled.
"But Dad worries that fashion isn't stable."
Josephine shrugged.
"Then prove him wrong."
Marinette looked at her sister.
"That's exactly what I'm going to do."
She closed the sketchbook.
"I'll work harder than everyone else."
Josephine smiled.
"You always do."
But Marinette didn't know that talent and hard work wouldn't
be the only things she'd need.
She would also need courage.
Because someone from her past was about to return.
Scene 3 — Elizabeth Richmond
Across the city, inside a mansion far larger than the Brighton
home, Elizabeth Richmond stood in front of a mirror.
Her long silver hair was perfectly arranged.
Her ocean-green eyes stared back at her.
A makeup artist stood behind her.
"Should I use the lighter shade?"
Elizabeth nodded.
"Of course."
She examined herself carefully.
Everything had to be perfect.
Her clothes.
Her hair.
Her makeup.
Her reputation.
A woman entered the room.
"Elizabeth, your father wants you downstairs."
Elizabeth sighed.
"Coming."
She walked downstairs.
Her father was waiting in the enormous living room.
Tall.
Silver-haired.
Blue-eyed.
Powerful.
He looked at his daughter.
"Your mother and I have been discussing your future."
Elizabeth sat down.
"My future?"
Her father smiled.
"You're growing older."
Elizabeth already knew what was coming.
"Nathaniel?"
Her father nodded.
"The engagement has lasted four years. When Nathaniel turns
twenty-four, the wedding will happen."
Elizabeth smiled.
For her, there was only one answer.
"Good."
But beneath that smile was something stronger than
excitement.
Possession.
Elizabeth had known Nathaniel since childhood.
And in her mind, Nathaniel was already hers.
She had no intention of losing him.
Not to anyone.
Especially not to Marinette Brighton.
Elizabeth's smile slowly faded.
Because she suddenly remembered that name.
Marinette.
Her old best friend.
The girl she had accused years ago.
For a moment, guilt touched her heart.
Then she pushed it away.
"That was a long time ago," she whispered.
But she knew it wasn't.
Not really.
The past had only been waiting.
And soon...
it was coming back.
CHAPTER ONE — BEFORE EVERYTHING
CHANGED
Scene 4 — The First Meeting
Years earlier...
Marinette was six years old when she first walked into her new
kindergarten classroom.
She stood nervously beside her mother, holding tightly onto
the strap of her little backpack.
"Mom, do I really have to stay here?"
Her mother smiled and knelt beside her.
"You're going to make friends."
Marinette looked around the classroom.
There were children everywhere.
Some were playing.
Some were crying.
Others were already laughing together.
Then Marinette noticed a little girl sitting alone near the
window.
The girl had silver hair and striking ocean-green eyes.
She was holding a tiny doll.
Marinette slowly walked toward her.
"Hi."
The girl looked up.
"Hi."
"My name is Marinette."
The girl smiled.
"Elizabeth."
Marinette pointed at the doll.
"She's pretty."
Elizabeth held it out.
"You can play with her."
Marinette's face brightened.
"Really?"
Elizabeth nodded.
Within minutes, the two girls were sitting together, playing
with the doll.
Neither of them knew that this innocent meeting would
eventually become one of the most complicated relationships
of their lives.
Scene 5 — Best Friends
Years passed.
Marinette and Elizabeth became inseparable.
They ate lunch together.
Walked home together.
Studied together.
Shared secrets.
Even their teachers called them "the Brighton-Richmond duo."
Whenever someone asked Marinette who her best friend was,
she always answered:
"Elizabeth."
And whenever Elizabeth was asked the same question, she
answered:
"Marinette."
At least, that was how things used to be.
By middle school, however, something began changing.
Elizabeth became increasingly conscious of money.
Her family was wealthy.
Marinette's family wasn't poor, but they lived a normal
middle-class life.
Elizabeth began comparing their clothes.
Their phones.
Their vacations.
Their homes.
One afternoon, Elizabeth looked at Marinette's sketchbook.
"You still draw clothes?"
Marinette smiled.
"Every day."
"Don't you want to do something more... important?"
Marinette frowned.
"Fashion is important to me."
Elizabeth shrugged.
"If you say so."
Marinette didn't argue.
She simply returned to her drawing.
She didn't know that Elizabeth's jealousy had already begun
growing.
Scene 6 — The Missing Jewelry
The incident happened on an ordinary afternoon.
Elizabeth had invited Marinette to her house.
Her parents were away.
They spent hours talking and laughing.
Then Elizabeth suddenly screamed.
"My necklace!"
Marinette jumped.
"What happened?"
"My necklace is gone!"
Elizabeth searched everywhere.
The necklace was expensive.
Very expensive.
Marinette helped her look.
Under the bed.
Inside the drawers.
On the table.
Nothing.
Then Elizabeth stopped.
She looked at Marinette.
Marinette noticed.
"Why are you looking at me like that?"
Elizabeth's expression changed.
"Did you take it?"
Marinette froze.
"What?"
"My necklace."
"I didn't take your necklace!"
Elizabeth's eyes narrowed.
"You're the only person who was here."
Marinette shook her head.
"I swear I didn't."
But Elizabeth didn't believe her.
That afternoon, Marinette went home crying.
Her mother immediately noticed.
"What happened?"
Marinette couldn't stop crying.
"Elizabeth thinks I stole from her."
Her father looked heartbroken.
"Did you?"
"No!"
He immediately believed her.
"We know you wouldn't do that."
But the accusation had already changed everything.
Scene 7 — The End of a Friendship
The next morning at school, whispers followed Marinette
everywhere.
"That's the girl who stole Elizabeth's necklace."
"I heard it was expensive."
"Maybe she wanted to keep it."
Marinette lowered her head.
Elizabeth walked past her without saying a word.
Marinette followed.
"Elizabeth!"
Elizabeth stopped.
"Why are you doing this?"
"You know why."
"I didn't steal anything."
Elizabeth stared at her.
"I don't believe you."
Marinette's eyes filled with tears.
"After everything we've been through?"
Elizabeth looked away.
For a second, guilt appeared in her eyes.
She knew something Marinette didn't.
She knew she hadn't actually seen Marinette take anything.
She had simply assumed.
But instead of admitting that, Elizabeth walked away.
And their friendship ended.
Scene 8 — Brightwood Academy
High school brought them together again.
Brightwood Academy was one of the most prestigious schools
in the city.
The rules were strict.
Uniforms were mandatory.
Students couldn't wear excessive jewelry.
Makeup was heavily restricted.
Hair had to follow school regulations.
And breaking the rules usually meant punishment.
Usually.
Elizabeth had a different experience.
One morning, she arrived wearing accessories that clearly
violated the dress code.
A teacher stopped her.
"Elizabeth, you know the rules."
Elizabeth smiled politely.
"I'm sorry, ma'am."
The teacher sighed.
"Just don't do it again."
Elizabeth walked away.
Marinette watched from across the hallway.
Another student whispered:
"How does she always get away with everything?"
Marinette didn't answer.
She already knew.
Money.
Influence.
Connections.
Scene 9 — The Twins Find Their People
Joseph and Josephine also attended Brightwood Academy.
Joseph spent most of his time studying.
Josephine spent every free moment practicing ballet.
Their closest friends were Giselle and Carter.
Giselle was Elizabeth's younger sister, but unlike Elizabeth,
she didn't enjoy hurting people.
Carter was tall, with dark-blue hair, golden eyes and glasses.
He was quiet.
Observant.
And rarely missed anything happening around him.
One afternoon, Carter watched Elizabeth walk past Marinette.
He noticed something strange.
Elizabeth glanced at Marinette.
There was anger in her expression.
But there was also guilt.
Carter frowned.
"Something isn't right."
Joseph looked at him.
"What?"
"Nothing."
But Carter continued watching.
He had a feeling that the story behind Marinette and Elizabeth
was much deeper than everyone knew.
Scene 10 — Graduation
The years passed faster than Marinette expected.
Graduation day finally arrived.
Marinette stood among her classmates wearing her graduation
gown.
Her parents sat proudly in the audience.
Joseph and Josephine were beside her.
Joseph had his eyes set on medical school.
Josephine had already begun serious ballet training.
And Marinette had her sketchbook.
The principal called her name.
"Marinette Brighton."
She walked onto the stage.
Applause filled the hall.
She accepted her diploma.
For a moment, she looked toward her family.
Her father gave her a proud smile.
Her mother wiped away a tear.
Marinette smiled.
She had survived high school.
She had survived Elizabeth.
Now she was ready to start her real life.
But as everyone celebrated, Elizabeth stood at the edge of the
crowd.
She watched Marinette carefully.
Then her phone vibrated.
Elizabeth looked down.
A message appeared.
NATHANIEL BRYSON:
My parents are talking about the wedding again.
Elizabeth stared at the message.
Her expression changed.
She typed one sentence.
Don't worry. Everything will work out.
She sent it.
Then she looked back at Marinette.
For reasons she couldn't explain, a strange feeling settled in
her chest.
Guilt.
She pushed it away.
She didn't know it yet...
but the girl she had once pushed out of her life was about to
cross paths with the man Elizabeth had been promised for
years.
And when those two worlds collided—
nothing would ever be the same again.
