FALLING FOR LUCAS

"Rise and shine sweetie." the curtains were drawn and beams of light engulfed the room. I rubbed my eyes before sitting up on my bed. The blurriness slowly wore off and I was greeted by my mother smiling from ear to ear. "When did you get back?" I mumbled. "Two in the morning." she said, as she walked over to me. This Joe guy must be something. I drag my sheets over my face and attempted to go back to sleep. Mom always wanted the best for me but couldn't stay with one guy for longer than a month. It surprising how this guy has been with her for over two months now. "It's seven. Get up. Your gonna be late for school" she pulled the sheets away from me. School?. "I just got here mom." I frowned. "The earlier the better Honey. I signed you up for school before we even got here. get up and hit the shower." she tapped me numerous times until I gave up and stomped to the bathroom. I brushed my teeth and had my bath then cleaned myself dry and put on my usual outfit. Overalls and a shirt. It was just school so why should I bother with looks. I walked into the living room and picked up my backpack. "I'm ready." "What on earth are you wearing?" She widened her eyes. She scanned my clothes from head to toe and slowly walked over to me like I was some newly discovered animal. "Clothes?" I said, stating the obvious. "You look like a five year old. Go change." she instructed, shooing me away. I rolled my eyes and went to my room. I put on a pair of jeans and a stripped shirt then went back to the Living room. "Better?" I asked. She walked round me twice before tilting her head. "It'll have to do." she sighed. "We definitely have to change your wardrobe later on. Let's go." We left the house and were on our way to school. --- "Have a nice day sweetie" my mom said, as she drove away. The school was massive and well designed. The roofing alone was incredible. Five stories of beauty. Students of different shapes and sizes walked passed me. Some of them even whispered to themselves and stared. I could see why. They were all in uniforms and I just stood there looking like a lost puppy. The girls wore a navy blue short flay skirt with ridiculously long socks to match their navy blue blazers. The boys on the other hand wore exactly the same thing but suit pants. "Ah, Miss Valens. Welcome to Bennington High." I heard a voice say. I turned around and saw a bald man twice my size. He was also very tall. "Thank you." I smile. "Here is your timetable." he handed it over to me. "Your uniform will be given to you shortly." he said. I scanned my timetable and my first class was biology. I thanked him and made my way into the school building. The school looked even bigger on the inside than it did on the outside. How could my mom could afford to send me here was a mystery. I roamed the halls for a few minutes, avoiding contact with everyone one. I bumped into someone and instantly fell to the grown. I felt a sharp pain on my forehead and began rubbing it to stop the pain. "I'm so sorry." a voice said. I looked up and saw a tall figure extending it's hand. My vision became clearer as I took the hand. I was pulled up and was face to face with a dark haired boy. "It's fine" I said. He picked up my bag and handed it over to me. He stared at me in confusion which made me uncomfortable. "I don't mean to stare. It's just that, I've never seen you here before." he smiled. His accent was definitely not American. "I-i'm new here." I couldn't believe I stuttered. He gave me huge smile and extended his hand for a handshake. "I'm Min Woo but call me Min for short." "Alvina." I smiled back. I took his hand and shook it before letting go. "Nice to meet you. So, where are you headed?" He asked. "Biology." I handed him my timetable and he scanned through it. "So am I. Come on, I'll take you there" he snickers. He grabbed my hand and hurried me through hallways and stairs before we finally reached the Biology Lab. He takes a seat next to a window and wave's for me to sit next to him. I lower my head and walked over to him and took a seat. The teacher hadn't gotten here yet so the students got the opportunity to do whatever they wanted. "So, where are you from Avila?" He asked. I bring out my biology text book from my bag before setting it down. "Uh Houston, Texas." I said. "What about you?" "Korea." he smiled. "That's so cool." I smiled. I've been doing alot of smiling lately, my cheeks were starting to hurt. He returned the smile. the teacher walked in and The class settled down. "Good morning class." he said, as he wiped the board. "Good morning Mr.Gervase." the class said in sync. He was really skinny and very tall. His glasses were thick and his hair was spikey. He looked like a mad scientist. It was rather amusing. Some students snickered while others pointed at his wild hair. He turns to the class, "Today we're going to-" he stops and stares at me. I bite on my lower lip and tried to avert my eyes. He picks up a book and flips through its pages until he found what he was looking for. "Class, we have a new student in our midst." he smiles. Min playfully​ poked me and arched his eyebrows. I crinkled my nose and giggled at him. "Kindly introduce yourself to the class." Mr.Gervase Insisted. "Go on." Min Whispers. I nod and get up from my seat. I walk over to Mr.Gervase and turn to the class. You can do this Jade. "Um I'm Alvina Valens and I'm from Huston Texas." I fold my lips into a line. They all stared at me and some of the girls even pointed. I lick my lips nervously and stare at Min. He gave me a thumbs and smiled. Surprisingly, it calmed me down. "Class say hello to Miss Valens." he smiles. "Hello Alvina" they say. I smiled and returned to my sit. "You were great." Min smiled. I shake my head and smiled back. He seems like a nice guy. so far so good.
