Before the Bell Rang

Book One: Becoming Me

The first day she walked through the gates of boarding school, she thought she was simply starting a new chapter of her education.

She had no idea she was stepping into a journey that would challenge her courage, test her identity, and shape the person she would become.

From strict rules and unforgettable friendships to heartbreaking accusations, unexpected disappointments, and moments of triumph, *Becoming Me* is the true story of a young girl learning that growing up isn't just about passing examinations--it's about surviving the lessons life teaches outside the classroom.

Told with honesty, warmth, and resilience, this memoir takes readers behind the school walls, where every bell marked more than the end of a lesson. It marked the beginning of another challenge, another victory, and another step toward discovering who she truly was.

Before she became the person she is today...

She first had to become herself.

PROLOGUE
"You look like an onion bulb! You won't get married, but your sister will!" Those were the words my Physics teacher threw at me in front of the entire class. The classroom erupted into laughter. Some students tried to hide their smiles behind their notebooks, while others laughed so loudly that even the students outside turned to look through the windows. I stood there, frozen beside my desk, unable to believe what I had just heard. It wasn't the first time a teacher had scolded me, but this was different. This wasn't discipline. It was humiliation. I could feel every pair of eyes fixed on me. My ears became hot, and my cheeks burned with embarrassment. I wanted the floor to open and swallow me whole. Instead, I forced a smile that never truly formed, lowered my head, and stared at the scratches on my wooden desk until the lesson ended. The funny thing was, I wasn't even doing anything extraordinary. I was simply being what every teenager naturally is—a little playful, a little curious, and sometimes unable to contain my laughter around friends. Yet, somehow, that was enough for my teacher to reduce me to an object of ridicule. Little did he know that his words would become the final drop in a bucket that had been filling for years. Because before this classroom... Before this teacher... Before this school... I had already changed schools three different times. And this one was supposed to be my last.
