"I haven't been feeling too well," he said. "I figured it's malaria, and since I hate hospitals, I just went to get some fruits to see if it'll boost my immune system."
"So, fruits have now become drugs, right?" Bolu teased.
"It's better than nothing," he replied. "So, how have you been? How's school and business?" he asked.
"Well, things are quite fine. We're coping. It's been a while. How are your brothers?" She didn't know quite what to talk to him about, so she figured she'd ask random questions about family, life, and wellbeing.
"They're good," he answered.
Bolu felt quite awkward, and he seemed to be too. She decided she'd spare them both the awkwardness and just go. "So, take care of yourself and try to rest, so your health will get better."
"Hmmm, hmmm," he responded noncommittally.
She didn't know what to say after that, so she turned to leave. "Can I text you tonight?" she heard.
She turned to look at him with mixed feelings but decided there's no harm in him texting – not like things were ever going to go back to how they were, but they could be cordial at least. All these thoughts played in her mind as she answered him, "Yeah, sure. You can."
"Alright then, good night. See you online," he said, chuckling. She chuckled back and left for home.
