A second chance at love

Tears dropped down Annie's eyes as she watched her ex husband slip the gold ring into Nimi's fingers. It felt like she was dreaming. She moved sheepishly out of the restaurant. Annie was left expressionless and lost in her thoughts. It's just been a month since she got divorced with Frank and he's already getting engaged to another woman. Series of thoughts were running through her mind as tears ran down her cheek. She gulped down a ball of saliva to prevent the tears from making way but her emotions got the best of her. Annie was dazed and gloomy. For a moment, she started sniffling as she wiped her tears with her hands. Nimi was Frank's secretary, Annie usually engages Nimi in friendly conversations whenever she goes visiting her husband in his office. Most times, she would invite Nimi over to have dinner with herself and Frank. This could only mean that during her marriage with Frank, there's been something going on with Frank and Nimi all along. Annie was heartbroken. She boarded a cab back home. Annie already had a bad day from work earlier that day. She decided to go to the restaurant to have a drink and clear her head off from her stressful day only to meet her ex husband engaging his secretary. This was an extra burden to Annie. Annie got home, moved to her mini bar space and started taking alcohol. She drank till she was intoxicated while crying, her eyes were devoid of any form of friendliness. Annie slept off on the table with several empty bottles of alcohol. Frank drove off with his newly engaged fiance. Nimi throughout the ride couldn't help but smile at Frank every minute. At intervals, Frank would give Nimi a featherlight kiss on her temple. Finally they got to an exotic hotel. Frank wanted their engagement night to be special. One which is memorable. The hotel seemed to be a presidential hotel. It takes a man who is wealthy to be able to afford their services. The flowers surrounding the walls were very beautiful, the building was magnificent. The environment was luxurious and secured with an opulent lobby and grand chandeliers. They were impeccable decor, blending classic and modern styles. The hotel's sleek, modern exterior gleams with polished glass and limestone, reflecting the vibrant cityscape. There was a rooftop pool with a sundeck and city views. The soothing background music from live pianists weaved a melodic tapestry. Nimi was breath-taking. She couldn't help but gaze in solace. “I've never seen anything so beautiful in a long while.” She stated. Frank smiled and thought to himself that she was impressed with what she has seen. The opulent surroundings ignited feelings of love and affection amongst the couple. Frank anticipated a magical night ahead. Nimi was grateful for Frank's thoughtful gesture. She felt pampered like a queen, indulging in luxury. They got down from the car and moved into the hotel. As they enter the hotel's signature restaurant, the soft glow of candlelight and the sweet aroma of fine cuisine envelop them. The maître d' greets them with a warm smile and escorts them to their secluded table. They had Gourmet delicacies, expertly crafted by the Michelin- starred chef. They were given fine wine carefully to complement each course. The soft music ignited an intimate conversation. They both had a heartfelt toast to their future together. Frank held Nimi's hand throughout the dinner, sharing stories and laughter. He presented her with a beautiful necklace and a hand piece to symbolize their commitment. Soon enough they were done with their meal. As they step into their lavish suite, the soft glow of dimmed lights and the sweet scent of fresh flowers envelop them. “This is heavenly, I feel like royalty. Our engagement night is truly unforgettable, ” Nimi said in total surprise. She was impressed. There were complimentary champagne and strawberries on the bed side table, rose petals scattered across the bed. They moved to the balcony and shared a romantic dance on the private balcony. As the evening folds, they sip champagne and strawberries together, their eyes locked in affection. The tension builds as they share tender kisses and caresses. Their love becomes one, their bodies entwined in a s****l dance. The world outside fades away, leaving only the two of them, lost in the moment. Frank whispers to Nimi softly as he gives her gentle touches and passionate embraces fill the night. In each other's arms, they find solace, comfort and joy. Their love becomes a sanctuary, a haven from the world. As they lay together, holding each other close, they shared tender words, sweet kisses and contented sighs. Exhausted from their passionate night, they drift off to sleep, wrapped in each other's arms, their love shining bright. After their romantic night, it was morning. Soft sunlight filters through the floor-to-ceiling windows, casting a warm glow across the luxurious suite. Nimi stirs first, her eyes fluttering open to find Frank watching her, a tender smile on his face. He brushes a strand of hair from her forehead, and she smiles back. They snuggle deeper into the plush bedding, sharing lazy kisses and whispered endearments. Room services arrive, and they indulge in a decadent breakfast feast. Fresh fruit, crispy pastries and rich coffee fill the air with enticing aromas. Over breakfast Frank engaged Nimi in a conversation. He takes her hand, his eyes filled with empathy and honesty. “Baby, I need to talk to you about something. It's been weighing on me since the engagement.”Frank stated. “What is it?” Nimi replied curiously. “My ex-wife was present at the restaurant when I proposed.” Frank blurted out. Nimi noticed that Frank was feeling a bit sorry for Annie. She immediately stole the moment. “It might seem insensitive but proposing right in front of her was not a bad idea. At least, it would be clear to her, yourself and everyone that I'm the one you want to spend your life with.” She declared with a smile. “Honestly I want to close that chapter of my life. I want her to know I've moved on and that I've found my true love - you. But I hope she doesn't get hurt in the process. I feel like I disrespected her and even you.” Frank said feeling guilty “No, you didn't. You closed a chapter and started a new one. We've been waiting for this moment for so long. Why hide it? We've handled worse situations, remember? We've kept our love a secret for years; this was liberating.” Nimi demanded “You're right. I was trapped in that marriage, and you were my escape.” Frank agreed. Nimi was excited that she was able to convince him that what he did was right. “And now, I'm your future. We deserve to celebrate our love, no matter who's watching.” Nimi added. She played a role of emotional intelligence on Frank and determination to justify their unconventional engagement. They share a tender kiss, reaffirming their love as they get set to leave the hotel back home.
