Chapter 8

Sabrina Meyers (POV) I pulled Ema towards the malls comfort room. We've been wandering around the mall for how many hours now. Ema just couldn't stop walking around the mall. "Wait for me here," I told her when we are in front of the ladies room. Ema just rolled her eyes towards me. I entered the ladies room and do the thing I've been wanting to do - to pee. Once, I'm done, I fixed my make up. I was fixing my things when someone stands beside me. I look up and our eyes meet at the mirror. She smiled at me to which I responded with a smile. "Hello Sabrina. Small world. Of all places, I meet you again in this ladies room," she said as she put on his lipstick. I watch her do her thing on the mirror. "Yes, hi. Nice meeting you too," I sarcastically replied. I really hate seeing Raine. Something is telling me to stay away from her if possible. And that's what I'm doing. The last time I saw her is when I went to Cadens office. She's smiling at me as if she's trying to tell me something. A smile of victory and I hate it. "Ah, I can't blame Caden why he's into you. You're pretty. Nah, scratch that, you're beautiful and I cannot even stop myself to admire you," she said. I don't know if that is even a compliment or just her strategy to make someone uncomfortable. "Ah, you're much beautiful than I am," I replied. She let out a laugh making me stare at her. What was wrong with what I said? "That's what I thought too, the first time I saw you. I'm much more attractive than you but why did Caden chose you over me?" she said. I was insulted by her words but I don't want to be affected by it. If I let her win this conversation, she might think that I'm easy to attack. "I didn't know that he's choosing between us. From what I know, I'm the only woman in his life now," I replied. I wasn't sure if I'm really the only woman in his life. Since the day we got married, he was never involved with any woman. His arrogant aura and personality was never publicized again. "Are you sure with that?" she asks me as she laugh out loud. "I am the only woman in his life now," I strongly said. She walks closer to me. "Sabrina, watch out your words," she whispers in my ear. When I didn't say anything, she stepped back and smiled mockingly at me. "Sabrina, I'm giving you a warning. Not because Caden is with you, doesn't mean he is already yours for a hundred percent. Note that people change in just a snap of a finger," she said as she stared at me intently. "I may not have him for a hundred percent but still, I'm the one by his side. Women may own him for some time but I'm the legal one." She shakes her head and laugh. "Raine is still alive Sabrina, always put that in mind," she said before she turned her back on me. I watch her walk out of the ladies room. After sometime, I followed her out. Ema immediately pulled me. "I've been waiting for you for how long," she rants as we walked away from the ladies comfort room. "I - I met a person I hate," I replied making her stop on her step. "A person you hate? Is it Ava? Or Luke? Are they here?" she said looking around as if she's looking for someone. I shake my head. "Then who?" she curiously asked. "It's - it's Raine. C- Cadens ex-girlfriend," I replied. I don't know why I'm stuttering. For goodness sake. "What the? You meet one of his ex-girlfriends?" she excitedly asks. "Not just those exes that she slept with. I mean- the ex-girlfriend that almost hurt him. Nah, no. Let me rephrase that. His ex that broke him into pieces," I replied. When I confess my love for him, he decided to tell me about Raine. That's when I discovered that Raine was actually Caden's first love. I honestly felt the pain while listening to his story. "Aw, I hope you're okay," she said. "I'm fine. I just want to go home. I really can't help it. I can't stop myself from hating that woman," I said. The first time I saw Raine, I immediately feel uncomfortable. And when Caden told me that Raine has been trying her best to talk to him, my hate towards her become more strong. "Then, let's just go home. If that will make you feel better," Ema replied making me smile. While heading out of the mall, I shared to her some of the details about what is happening between me and Caden. We immediately climbed inside the car as soon as we reach the parcking space where we parked my car. I first drive Ema home. She even told me to stay but I decided to go home. My mood was affected by what happened in the mall. 'Super affected since you are afraid of the fact that you can lose him and one day you'll be hurt again' says a part of my brain that made me frown. I just drive off the street to my husbands house. When I finally parked my car infront of the house, I immediately climbed out of it and headed inside the house. I was even surprised when I saw the man I was not expecting to see in the house. He smiled at me. "Hello Sabrina," he said. I was out of word as I see him in the living room smiling at me. "H-hello. Why are you here?" I asked without even smiling at him. He was about to say something when Caden appeared from the stairs. I was too focused on Luke that I didn't even notice Cadens presence. "Hey, Luke. You finally meet my wife," he says making me smile. I greeted him by giving him a hug and a kiss on his lips. He wasn't expecting that. He was shock but just smiled at me. "Yes, you're right. She's beautiful," he said looking at me intently. I wanted to punch him straight on his face. "Hmm. Anyway, Luke this is my wife, Sabrina. And Sabrina, this is my cousin, Luke," Caden says introducing me to Luke. I was shocked by the truth that Caden and Luke are blood related. This might be the reason why Luke know something about the agreement. All this time, he know the person I married. "Nice meeting you Sabrina," Luke said mockingly. I just smiled at him. A smile that didn't even reach my ears. I look at Caden. He's smiling at him. What would be his reaction if he discovers about my relationship with Luke before. "Lunch is ready!" says Magie who appeared from the kitchen. She looked at me in surprise. "Hey, Sabrina. I thought you're with Ema?" she asks. "Uhm, I'm tired that is why I came back immediately," I replied. Even if I want to tell her that I meet Raine again at the mall, I chose to lie. I lied in her face. "Let's have lunch. Magie prepared something for us," says Caden. "I'll just go to m- " "Go to our room and change your clothes," says Caden interrupting what I'm about to say. I look at him and he smiled at me. That's when I get what he wants to tell me. I almost hit myself for being so stupid. I've forgotten the fact that our family doesn't even know anything about our set up. I just kissed him once again and went upstairs. I was on the last step on top of the stairs when I decided to stay and watch the two downstairs. I waited for Luke and Caden to enter the dining room before I entered my own room. I immediately changed my clothes and went downstairs. I strode into the dining room. Luke and Caden are now discussing something about business. "What's the discussion all about?" I asked as I approach them. Luke and Caden both stood up from their seats and pulled the same chair for me. I smiled at them. This is the most awkward situation I've ever encounter. My husband and my ex-fiancé pulling a chair for me. I first glanced at Luke and give him a glare. I wanted to shout at him on why he needs to stand from his seat and make an effort to pull a chair for me when he is quite far from the chair. What is he trying to do? Luke immediately went back to his seat. I smiled towards Caden and sits down on the chair. "We are discussing about business," says Luke to which I nodded. "Ah, that's boring," I replied as I put some rice on my plate. "Luke, how have you been? I didn't hear much about you this past years," says Caden. I look at Luke who is now chewing his food. "Well, I messed up. I let go of someone special," he replied as he smiled, staring at me. I glared at him before looking at Caden. "Aw, I don't want to judge but base on what you just told us, you're the one at fault," Caden says to which Luke just nodded. "Babe, what can you say about it?" Caden suddenly asks me. I was taken aback. "I- I well, you're really at fault and - and I hope you- you'll let the woman go. Ju- just mind your own business and be happy and if that special someone is already happy, let her be happy," I replied. Caden look at me with a smile. "Sabrina, you're thinking too much. Luke didn't even tell us if he is after the woman," Caden says in between his laugh. "Nah,... It's - I - ," I look at Luke who is grinning at me. "Your cousin seems to love the woman. I mean - he- he is still into her," I replied. Caden nodded and smiled at me before he face Luke. "Well, Sabrina is right. I'll do anything to have her back again. No matter what situation she's in right now," Luke replied as he look at me. I know by that time, his word is directed towards me. Well, I'll not let him have me on his ways. We just continued with our meal and let Caden divert the topic to business again. I was just to thankful that Luke just go with the flow of the conversation opened by my husband. After launch, Luke immediately left and Caden and I spent the day together. *********************************************** Two days. It's been two days since the day Luke had his launch with us. I was not expecting that Luke and Caden are cousins at all. That day, after Luke left, I had a little talk with Caden. Caden told me everything. According to him, Luke is his first cousin. His father and Luke's mother were siblings. He didn't hesitate to tell me that Luke is the only cousin he has that he hates the most. I asked him why but he didn't tell me the reason why. Since that day, Luke has been sending me messages that I just ignore. Messages that tells me how much he regrets everything. When he really can't stop, I blocked him. "Sabrina, it's already lunch time. Are you not going to have lunch?" asks Luz who is peeping from the door. "What time is it?" I asks. "It's already past twelve," she replied. "You've been busy since this morning. Do you need my help?" she added to which I shake my head. "Are you done having your lunch?" "Yeah, I was waiting for you at the canteen but you never showed up. So I decided to come back early and get your attention," she replied. "Oh, okay. I thought you're coming with me for lunch," I said as I fix my things. "Nah, I'm done. 'll just continue with what I'm doing," she replied before she closed the door. I fixed my make up and dig in for my purse. Once I'm done, I strode out of my office and waited for the elevator since the company canteen is still on the first floor. Yes, we have canteen in the building. It is where all the employees in the company spend their time during launch time or even during their break. When I stepped into the canteen, I immediately ordered for my food. The server already know what I usually order, so it's not hard for her to wait for me to order. I was about to sit on the chair I pulled for myself when an unexpected visitor suddenly appeared out of nowhere. He smiled brightly at me. If I was the Sabrina before, I might fall for that smile. But I wasn't. "I wasn't expecting to see you here," I said without any emotion. He pulled a chair for himself just across me. "How's your day?" he asks making me look at him. "What do you want Luke? Why are you doing all of this acts?" I asked instead of answering his question. He just shrugged his shoulder. I really can't understand why this man is still trying to approach me. "I just want to take what belongs to me back into my life," he replied. "You cannot take that certain thing back in your life again. Luke, it's too late for you." "Why is that? Is it because of my dear cousin?" he sarcastically asks. "It's not because of your cousin or someone else. It's because I don't want to be hurt and backstabbed again Luke," I replied. He stared at me and examined my face. The fact that I don't feel anything for him makes the situation awkward. The only feeling I have for him is hate. I hate him for just being in front of me. I hate him for the things he had done under my nose. "We can still fix everything between us Sabrina. Ava and I broke up. I broke up with her because I chose to be with you," he replied giving me goose bumps all over my body. "What do we need to fix? Do we even have to fix something?" I said. "Sabrina, this is not you at all. Please, give me a chance," he said as he stretch his hand and put his palm over my hand that is on top of the table. I tried to pull my hand away but he didn't allow me to do it. He just hold it still. "Let go of my hand Luke," I said as calm as I can for me to avoid making a show or a scandal that may cause rumors around the company. "Well, well, well. What am I seeing?" says someone behind me. I turned around and saw the last person I want to see that time. She walks towards us while clapping her hands. "Is Sabrina doing something fishy behind her husband?" says Raine once she's standing closer to me. I immediately pulled my hands when I noticed that Luke's attention is focused on the person who just appeared out of nowhere. Of all days, why would it be today that I wanted to have a peaceful lunch meal. "I'm not doing anything," I replied. Rained pulled a chair beside me and sit on it. "Sabrina, you know what Caden hate the most?" she asks while smirking towards me. "He hates it when people is lying under his nose," she continued. "I didn't lie to him with anything," I replied to which Raine raised an eyebrow. She exchanges looks between me and Luke and smiled. "Really Sabrina? Then what is this all about?" she asked as she smiled at Luke. "This is - this is just - " "This is just a simple talk between ex-lovers. Yeah, I'm his ex-fiancé," replied Luke that made me glare at him. How could he just tell her those things. I was glaring at him when Raine suddenly laugh. A laugh of a devil. "Wow! Of all people why would it be Caden and Luke!" she exclaimed making me look at her. "You know him?" I curiously asks. "Of course I know him. He is Caden's cousin. I know him because I've been dating Caden for almost three or four years," she replied while still wearing the smile. How could I even forget it. Raine is Caden's first love. Of course she knows something about his personal life. I hate to say it but she knows more than what I know. "Anyway, I'm going to leave you now, couples! I need to do some important matters. I just want to pay a visit to Sabrina but I guess, she's busy," she said as she stands from her seat. "We are not couples," I said making her laugh again. What does that laugh even mean? And what's funny with what I just said. "Okay. Whatever floats your boat. I don't care," she replied as she turn on her heels. We watch her walk away from us. "She didn't change at all. She's still the Raine I once admire," says Luke. "Admire? Really huh?" "Yeah, I admire her. Ah, if Caden didn't court her, I've made a move," he replied making me smirk. "Now that Raine is free and Caden is married, it's better if you make a move for her," I replied before I push myself up of the chair. I turned on my heels and leave. I heard him calling out for my name but I just ignored him and continued on my way. I was just thankful that the elevator was empty and I was able to make a longer distance from that man. Luz welcomed me back with a smile on her face but I just give her an emotionless look. "If someone ask permission to see me in my office, please tell him that I'm not entertaining a visitor right now. Unless it's my husband or my parents," I said to which Luz nodded. "Wait, him?" she asks as I was about to leave. I turned towards her again and smiled. A smile that didn't reach my ears. "Yeah. You heard me right. Him. His name is Luke. If he ask you permission to see me, tell him that I'm busy," I replied once again before I entered my office. Once I'm in my office, I immediately throw myself on the couch that is near the door. This day is the worst day of my life. Seeing those people who is part of our past make me want to kill someone. @Marcela Francisca
