Sabrina Meyers (POV)
I put the files on my briefcase and fix my desk. It's already time for me to go home. I glance at my wrist watch and my eyes literally widened as I see the time. It's already past ten in the evening. I was to engrossed with my work that I didn't notice the time. I didn't even have my dinner. I just shrug my shoulder and started fixing my table. I made sure that all the needed file are on my case before heading outside. Luz is nowhere to be found. That means, she has already left.
'Of course she'll leave. It's already late! Are you expecting her to sacrifice her time for you? Ah, stupid human!' says a part of me.
I waited for the elevator for I don't know how long. As I am waiting for the lift, I checked my phone and was dismayed because I didn't receive any message from Caden. I just heaved a deep sigh until the lift arrived. I immediately climbed into my car when I finally stepped on the company's' parking area. I put my case down on the empty seat beside me and started the engine. I gave one last wave to the security guard before driving off the busy street. This day is really tough for me. Aside from those papers that I needed to finish, Luke and Raine showed up at the same time. Both people that I hate.
'Good damn, bad day for me. If I have the power to just make people vanish, maybe they'll be the first two people that will experience my harshness' I thought making me shake my head.
After almost an hour of driving I finally parked my car in front of the house. My ride from the company until I arrive home is quite long and heavy because of traffic.
The lights inside the house are still on. That only means one thing, Magie is still awake. If not, they really let the lights on for me.
I walked inside the house with the briefcase on my right hand and my purse on the left hand. I was immediately greeted by Magie who is watching at the living room. "Good evening Sabrina, you're late," she said making me smile. Magie always has the energy even if she's from a heavy duty.
"Yeah, I've too much paper in my desk. A very unusual thing to happen," I replied. That's quite true. If I just concentrated on my work, instead of thinking about those two monsters that showed up at the same time, I could have finish my work earlier.
"Did you have your dinner?" she asks making me shrug my shoulders. That same moment, my stomach just made a sound of hunger proving that I really need some food.
"Nah, not yet," I replied as I pointed at my stomach.
Magie was about to say something when she was suddenly interrupted by Caden who is descending the stairs. Magie and I look at him. "Really? Did you really not have some dinner?" he said, his eyes focused on me, before heading towards the kitchen. We watch him enter the kitchen.
"What's wrong with him?" I asks Magie who just stared back at me.
"I don't know. He's acting that way since he came back home earlier. He is against anything. He even shouted at Roger when he didn't do the thing he ordered him to do," Magie replied. My eyes immediately diverts to the kitchen.
"Why the sudden change of attitude?" I whispered but still reached Magie's ears.
"I don't know. He was happy when he left this morning but when he returned, he's been acting like the Caden I used to know. Talking bluntly and an arrogant one," Magie replied.
"I'll just talk to him later. I'll just change my clothes first and have my dinner," I replied to which Magie nodded in response.
I went to my room and have my shower. After that, I wear my comfortable clothes and went downstairs. I went straight to the dining area. There, I saw Magie preparing for my dinner. "I'm really sorry for making you work this time. I was too engrossed with my work and didn't notice the time. I thought, it was just past six or seven," I said as I pulled a chair for myself. I sat down and started to dig on the food infront of me.
"That's fine. I'm quite used to this. There are also times that Caden will just appear in the middle of the night and ask me to prepare food for him. I'm just glad that he's not doing it anymore. Maybe because he's now a married man," she replied making me smile. Knowing that Caden change some of his routine because of our marriage makes me smile. I didn't even expect him to change at all.
"I'm really glad that he suddenly changed his bad habbits because of our marriage," I replied making her smile at me.
"People change especially when they meet someone that will inspire them to change," she replied.
We talked while I'm having my dinner. Because of her cheerfulness, she was able to tell me about her life starting from the day she worked with the Stewarts until Caden asked favor from his parents to let them accompany him in the house. "He really love you and Roger. I can see that by the way he treats you," I commented.
I can still remember the time when a woman, who Caden once sleep with, appeared while we are shopping at a certain mall. The woman asked Magie about Caden's whereabout with pure arrogance. She didn't even wait for Magie to speak and just shouted at her without even noticing Caden's presence behind her. Then, just like that, Caden speaks to her with arrogance and disgust.
"Yes, we can feel that. Now, his love for us is divided. But we already prepared for that fact," she said bringing my senses back. I was a little bit curious of what she said.
"What do you mean?"
"Nah, forget about it. Just always remember that Caden will also love and treat you the way you see him treats us. Just continue with your food. I'll just leave you alone to have a peaceful meal," she replied before leaving me in the dining area.
After having dinner, I immediately went to where Caden is. According to Magie, Caden is still in his office doing something. I really need to talk to him. I'm quite bothered with his attitude. I feel like I've done something terrible.
I'm now walking towards his office which is located at the end of the hallway. I need to pass four rooms before reaching his office. That made me wonder how Magie and Roger manage to clean all this rooms. They're already old enough to clean the whole place. Who the heck wants to live in this house- or I may say a mansion, alone.
When I'm finally standing in front of his office, I feel a sudden feeling of fear. I don't know why. Maybe beacause of the way he stared at me a while ago. I was standing there for God knows how many minutes thinking about nonsense things when he suddenly talk from the inside. "Are you just going to stand there or you will come in?" I hear him say from the inside.
How did he even know that I'm standing in front of his door. Does he have any super power? I cleared my throat before I confidently opened the door. "Can I talk to you?" I said. He put the file down on the table and look at me. He then leaned on the swivel chair and motioned me to sit on the couch.
"What do you want us to talk about?" he said. His voice is as cold as ice. No emotion at all. I furrowed my brows for his change of attitude. I stared at him for I don't know how long. I was just brought back to my senses when he suddenly cleared his throat.
"What's with the change of attitude?" I asked. I really hate it. I feel like I'm facing someone else and not my husband.
"What? This is me. Didn't you read some articles about me? The arrogant boss?" he replied with pure seriousness. So this is the arrogant boss that I've been reading. It does really happen and I'm afraid of it.
"Because the article say that you're an arrogant boss, you are now living with it? Come on Caden, you're a better person than those stupid articles written by stupid people."
"I'm not," he replied. "I'm much more than those description written on those articles."
"Come on, what's your problem? This is not the way you talk to me. Are you tired or what?" I said as I walk closer to him. I immediately stand behind him and started to massage his shoulder.
I thought he's fine with it but all of a sudden, he stands up from his chair. "I don't need someone to massage my shoulder. If you don't have important thing to do then you should get out of my office," he said. "I have important things to do than to be disturbed by you," he immediately added that pained me.
I again asked him why he is acting that way, so cold. Instead of answering me, he just straightened himself and continued reading the file he has on his table. I just stayed there, talking, trying to get his attention but he just ignored me.
And my patience is really eating me up. If he continued with this kind of attitude, then I will really shout at him. I'm not really use to this kind of personality he has right now. "What is your problem Caden! Magie told me that you've been cold since you came back? You even acted with dominance infront of them!"
"That's none of your business! You are just my wife, okay?" he replied. I was taken aback by his words. I'm just his wife. Pain suddenly envelopes me. How could he just say those words in my face? Just a wife?
I heaved a deep sigh and stared at him. If he doesn't want to tell me the reason why he is acting like this, then, it's his choice. At least I tried asking him.
"Fine. If you don't want to tell me what your problem is, so be it. Just please, don't be so arrogant with Roger and Magie. You're hurting them," I said before I turned on my heels and left.
Caden Stewart (POV)
It's been a week since I talked to Sabrina. The last one was when she talked to me at the office. For the whole week, I stayed at one of my hotels. I just don't have the interest to go home and face her. I might say words that can hurt her or I might do something that will hurt Roger and Magie.
"Earth to Caden!" yells someone beside me.
That's when I realized that I am in a club with another woman. This woman is my second woman this whole week. "What? What were you saying?" I asked as if I'm interested on what she's saying. She moved closer to me and started kissing me on my neck.
"You are not paying attention to what I'm telling you. Mind if you share me something that is on your mind?" she said in between kisses.
"Nothing, not that important," I replied.
"If it's not important, why don't you tell me about it?" she asks.
"Why would you like to know what is on my mind. Can you just stay with me? Besides, you are not involved in it," I replied.
The woman just nodded her head. She tried to kiss me on my lips but I immediately look on the other way. I'm not in the mood to play right now. My mind is busy on something or someone.
I stayed in the club with the woman named Missy until I decided to end the night party. I left the club and Missy in the club. Missy is quite mad at me when I told her that I'll be leaving but when I gave her some money, her attitude suddenly changed. She even tried convincing me to sleep with her but I declined. I'm not really in the mood to sleep with someone. Besides, her job is to company me in the club and not to stay with me on the same bed.
I was a little bit tipsy when I reach my house. It was Roger who opened the gate for me. "Finally you're home," he said when we are at the living room.
I smiled towards him and throw myself on the couch. "Yeah, it's been a while," I replied.
"We've been waiting for you. Where did you go? Sabrina is worried about you," he said making me smile.
"Really? Huh, women!" I said. I doubt if that woman is really worried about me. She really is good at playing her emotions.
"What's wrong?" He asked me.
"I doubt it if she's worried about me. I think she's a lot more worried for my cousin," I replied, letting a smirk appear on my lips.
Roger looked at me like he'd seen a ghost. "What are you talking about?" he asks making me laugh.
I was about to talk when we hear a sound of a car. "Who's that?" I asked but I already have the answer in mind.
"Maybe it's Sabrina. She's still not home. I'll just open the gate for her," he replied before leaving me.
I glanced at my watch. It reads ten forty five in the evening. Where did Sabrina go. Why is she late? I was just about to close my eyes when Sabrina appeared from the entrance door.
She looked at me with furrowed brows. "You're drunk?" she said to which I nodded.
"Seems like you enjoyed the night huh?" she added after she look at me from head to toe.
"And if I say yes, is there any problem?"
"I don't have any problem with that," she replied as she look away. She cannot hide the emotion in her eyes. Pain. I saw pain passes through her eyes. But why would she feel the pain?
"Great. You should just mind your own business," I replied. I was waiting for her to say something but I was disappointed because I never heard her say something. She just walk away from me. I watch as she make steps at the stairs.
"Why can't you talk to her in a nice way? She's been worried for the past days. She's been waiting for you to arrive. Where have you been?" asks someone from behind me. I turned around and saw Magie. Basing from how I see her, she just woke up.
"It's still eleven. Why don't you sleep," I said, instead of answering her base on what she just said.
"Caden, you never came home for a week and you didn't even tell us where you stayed. Is there any problem?" she asks. I can hear pure concern in her voice.
"This is certainly my problem. Nah, let me rephrase that, this is not even considered as problem. Don't think too much about it," I replied. Magie just stared at me. I know that she's thinking about something.
"I'm tired. I need to have some rest. I'm going out early tomorrow. I'll be going to Korea for some important matter," I said to which Magie just nodded.
I pushed myself up of the couch and leave Magie in the living room. I went straight to my room and throw myself on the bed. While looking up at the ceiling, a thought about Sabrina came into view.
I promised to myself that I will not treat her the way I treat those woman that I slept with before I married her. I tried to be more calm and patient and tried not to be arrogant in front of her because of the fact that I see her as a fragile woman. That's what I thought.
But after the Lunch we had with Luke, things suddenly changed. It changed when I accidentally overheard them talking at the back of the house after having lunch.
"Why did you show up?" says Sabrina.
I immediately stopped on my track and hide myself. I made sure that I'm hiding at a place where I can hear them clearly. I'm too curious on why Sabrina said those words towards Luke.
"Why? Am I not invited in my cousins house now?" Luke replied. Why are they talking like they've known each other.
"It's not that. What is your reason why you suddenly appeared? Caden is your cousin but why didn't I saw you on the day of our wedding?"
"You know the reason why I'm here Sabrina. And, I was too busy on the day of your wedding and I wasn't invited. My cousin forgot about me," he sarcastically replied.
"Shut up Luke! Everything between us is done. Can you just move on please!" says Sabrina. I can hear both annoyance and anger in her voice.
"But I still love you. I want you back. Don't lie to yourself. You really don't love my cousin. I'm still the person you love," says Luke. I was waiting for Sabrina's response but I heard nothing.
"You see, you cannot even say a word," says Luke once more.
"Yes, I love you. I love you Luke! " I stepped backwards and went back to my room. I really can't believe the fact that my cousin who I hate the most is related to my wife.
I waited for a minute and tried to calm myself before I went back to where Luke and Sabrina are. I acted cool in front of them and observed their actions until Luke decided to leave. I also talked to Sabrina like I never heard anything.
I told her how much I hate Luke but she didn't show any reaction. She stayed nonchalant about the things I've told her. I also waited for her to say something about them and Luke but heard nothing.
I just let that go for a day. I was thinking of the fact that Sabrina will tell me about it if she has time. But that changed when Raine came into my office telling me that she saw Luke and Sabrina talking to each other.
I don't want to believe it but when I called Luke and ask him about Sabrina, he told me things that I was not expecting to hear from him.
