Chapter 4

3009 Words
Caden Stewart (POV) I felt a sudden burst of happiness surge through me as I opened my eyes. I blinked, trying to remember what I'd been thinking about before I fell into a deep sleep. I've been thinking about how I would treat Sabrina the time I wake up and face her. But nothing came into my mind. It's pure acceptance. Yes, that's it. From the way she talked and move. I can say that Sabrina is not a woman to be hurt. The only thing that I can do is to accept her and the situation we have right now. I stretched out my arms, relishing the intense ache in my muscles. I then stretched my legs and walked over to peek outside by my window. From where I'm standing, I can see Roger cleaning my car at the parking space. I closed my eyes and walk towards my bathroom and take a bath. After I'm done changing, I shut the door of my room and headed downstairs. I saw Magie at the living room reading a newspaper. Yes, they can do whatever they want in my house. I'm not against it because that's how I want to treat them. "Good morning Magie!" I said making her aware of my presence. She immediately look at me and smiled. "Good morning Caden. How was your night?" "Good as always." "Nah, good to hear that," she replied. Then realization hit me. How come she's here at the living room when I can hear someone in my kitchen doing something. "Magie, who is in my kitchen?" I curiously ask. "The woman you brought home last night. She told me a while ago that she wants to cook so, I allowed her to do that." "What if she doesn't know how to cook? She'll make a mess in my kitchen," I said. "Don't worry. By just looking at her, I can tell you that she's a good cook," she replied. "What? No way, she's born with a golden spoon on her mouth. I doubt it," I replied to which she laughed. Magie doesn't allow someone to do things in my kitchen since the day that red head woman burned something in my kitchen. Why would she suddenly allow a woman she doesn't even know how use my kitchen? I just turned on my heel and strolled into the kitchen. I was on the door when I saw Sabrina doing something. Her back is facing me. She's wearing an oversized white t-shirt and a black shorts. He was busy humming and singing while cooking making her not aware of my presence. I was about to walk towards her when she started dancing at the beat of her own music. That made me stay to where I was standing. I silently watched how she moves and it did awakened something inside my stomach. I leaned at the door frame watching her as she happily dance and sing at the same time. I've been there witnessing all her moves with a smile on my lips until she's done with what she's doing. She then poured a coffee on a mug. She turned around and was startled to see me leaning at the door frame of the kitchen. She spilled the coffee she just poured for herself. Without even thinking twice, I ran towards her and help her. "Are you alright?" I ask as I hold her by her shoulders. She just looked at me in shock. "Hey!" I said in a louder tone. That's when she pushed me. "My goodness, you scared the hell out of me!" she said staring at me. "Are you planning to kill by scaring me?" I look at her from head to toe. Thanks goodness that the coffee didn't spill on her t-shirt. It directly spilled on the floor. "I'm sorry," I said. "Nah, that's fine with me. But next time, don't do that. I'm not going to die because of my illness but because of your presence," she replied with a small smile on her face. "Yeah, next time," I said. "Good to know," she replied as she pick the pieces of the broken mug. I was about to help her when she suddenly stopped me and do the thing all alone. She was picking it like a pro. Once she's done picking all the pieces, she put it in a cellophane and put it in the bin. Then, she wipe up the mess with a damp cloth. I just watch her do all those stuff until she's done. She wash her hands and looked at me. "Now, Mr. Stewart. Do you want to have some coffee or you already want to have your breakfast?" she asks me. "I would love to have a coffee please," I replied, smiling towards her. "Then, would you mind to have a seat and wait for me to make a coffee for you," she said. And without even arguing, I did as she ordered me to do. I pulled a chair for myself and watch her again as she make coffee for me. Then a thought of her doing things in the kitchen makes me wonder. How could she be good with all of this stuffs knowing the fact that she's from a well known family in the country. After sometime of preparing the coffee, she serve it in front of me. She then, make a bread for me and put it beside my coffee. I watch her pull a chair across me and sit. "How can you be so good in the kitchen?" I curiously ask her. She raised an eyebrow. "What does that mean?" she replied as she sip from the cup of coffee she made for herself. "I mean, you're from a wealthy family and - you know what I mean," I replied as I copy the way she sip her coffee. "Ah, you mean, how come I'm good? Well, yes, I'm from a wealthy family, and everything is served in front of me. But, I also had the will to learn every household chores." "Why is that?" I asked. If I'm a woman and is from her family, I would rather chill and wait for our family maid to serve everything infront of me. She looked at me. "Well, I'm not always rich. I can go down and have my own way of learning the game of life. One day, I'll be separated from my parents and I need to learn everything to live," she replied. "I'd be married soon and hell yeah, I need to learn on how to feed my own family," she added. "You are not like those other women I know." "What do you mean by other women?" she asks. Curiosity is visible in her voice. "Aside from the fact that they tell lies, they are also gold diggers and are super unbelievable." She laughed. She literally laughed. And the sound of her laughter is like a music that I heard for the first time. It's so much pure and sincere. "Why do you laugh at what I said." I'm really curious. "Well, I can't say you're wrong. I've met women who are gold digger and are willing to do anything just to have whatever they want. I can tell who they are," she replied. I can see pain in her eyes. And that is what I want to know. Is she hiding something or it's just part of her personality. "Anyway, I can say that you're good at dancing," I said teasingly at her. Her face reddened like a tomato. She's blushing. "How long have you been watching me?" she asks. "Well, I've been watching you the whole time," I said smirking towards her. "Ugh, I hate you for that. Forget what you saw!" she said making me laugh. Well, this woman is really cute. I heaved a deep sigh. I wonder if this attraction I have for her will last or it's just for today that she's infront of me. Questions are coming out one by one as I watched her have her coffee. What would happen to us if the day of our wedding will come? Sabrina Meyers (POV) My palms are sweating as the limo stopped. Today is the day that we are going to announce our engagement. "Ready?" says Caden. I turned my head to see him staring at me. I was a little bit stunned by him. He was wearing his black Armani suit. "Ye-yeah," I replied. He just nodded and climbed out the limousine. The door beside me suddenly opened. I heaved a deep sigh and stepped out of the car. "They're all waiting inside, let's start the show." "Yeah. Let the show begins," I replied with hesitation. Moments later, we were surrounded by a bunch of reporters. I can hear the flashing of cameras and a lot of questions. Caden tightened his grip on my waist as we try our best to escape from them. Some security guards came for a rescue until we successfully entered the room only for me to be stunned. The room was filled with sea of faces. I wasn't expecting for this number of people at all. I shiver at those stares I receive from those men in the room. "Your dress will kill them," whispers Caden. I feel goose bumps as I feel his warm breath on my neck. "And I hate it. Seriously," he added. "You're the one who asked me to wear this," I whispered back. I'm wearing a black dress that shows my curves. It doesn't show off much of my skin but has a slit that displays my legs. I paired it with with my stilettos that adds on my height. I came back to my senses when Caden cleared his throat. "Time to climbed up the stage," he said. We climbed up the stage with Caden acting as gentle as he is. I wonder how long he would act this way. He did the introduction of the event. I just stayed by his side not knowing what to do. I'm still stunned by the number of people around us. "Right babe?" says Caden that made me look at him. I meet his gaze. His perfect white teeth showed up. I was mesmerized by his handsomeness. 'Oh come one! It's not the time to act fool infront of these people. He is asking you something and you need to answer him! i***t!' a part of my brain scolded me. "Uh, can - can you repeat that again?" I ask as I let a smile crept on my lips. I didn't realize that I said that out loud that made all the people laugh. I look around and saw my parents smiling at me. "You want me to repeat all what I've said?" "Uhm- " "Never mind, I just told them how we met and how we make our relationship work," he said still looking at me. If those kind of looks could kill, I'm sure I'm six feet buried on the ground. "Ah - ye - yeah, yeah... Of course," I replied. I hear some "oh's" and "ah's" from the audience. "See, that's how she wanted me to give her little Sabrina's and Caden's," he said that made me look at him with wide eyes. "Hey, what does that mean?" I whispered while smiling at him. "Shh. It's all about our future," he replied making me blush. I was about to say something when Caden raised his left hand that's holding a glass of wine for a toasts. I was too nervous not to notice where he gets it. 'Damn Sabrina Meyers! You need to focus and not let your nervousness embarass you in the public' I silently scolded myself. Too much stupidity for this day. When we stepped out from the stage, we were met by our parents and friends' greetings. Caden also introduced me to some of his cousins and business partners. He even made up stories about how we were able to form the bond that we have making the guests in awe. Seeing how they were happy about our so-called bond, I just didn't protest to whatever he is telling them. For the rest of the night, Caden never left my side. I've been expecting a random woman to crash into my engagement party, but there was none. It was already late when our parents bid their goodbyes to us. I can see happiness in their eyes. "Tired?" Caden asks as we entered the car. I just simply nodded as an answer. "I see," he said. As the car started to drive off the street, I leaned at the car window. Everything is going to be different, I thought to myself. My usual way of living will be changed. I took a deep sigh and closed my eyes and drifted off to sleep. I opened my eyes as I feel myself being lifted. That's when I realize that I'm being carried by Caden. "Hey, what do you think you're doing?" I ask. He looked down at me and said, "You're awake." "Yeah, now put me down," I said. He put me down but made sure that I can manage to balance myself. "Why didn't you wake me up?" "I did but you're such a sleepy head, what kind of woman would still be asleep when someone's shaking her that strong?" he asks sarcastically. I just rolled my eyes and made my way upstairs only to trip on the third step causing me to lose my balance. I thought of falling down but a strong arm prevented me from falling. "Careful," he said as he stared at me with an emotion in his eyes that I cannot decipher. "Thanks," I simply replied. He helped me adjust and gain my balance before he motioned me to walk with him. We climbed upstairs with silence. "Here we are," I awkwardly said as we reach my door. He just nodded at me. I smiled back and touch the door knob. "Goodnight," he said as I opened my door. "Goodnight," I replied with a smile. I entered my room without looking back at him. I heaved a deep sigh as I started to undress myself. I changed into my pajamas and jumped on my bed. I closed my eyes but memory of my past relationship clouded my memory. It's been two months but I never heard anything from those two. Tears started to escape from my eyes. My heart is not still fully healed. The pain is still there no matter how much I wanted to move on. I may smile but deep inside I'm killing myself. For some reason, a thought of being engaged to Caden helped me forget about Luke. There's part of me that wants to focus on Caden and act as his faithful wife. But a part of me is also telling me that what I've done is a big mistake for I'm using someone else to move forward. I wipe the tears and push myself out of my bed. I walk out from my room and headed towards the kitchen. The light in the kitchen is still open. I furrowed my brows, knowing Magie, she will surely turn the lights off. "Maybe Magie is still awake," I whispered to myself. To my dismay, it was not Magie. It was Caden who is shirtless. His hair is now disheveled that made him more look like a bad boy. He is standing near the sink. "Done checking me out?" he said mockingly. I rolled my eyes. I walked towards the refrigerator to get a cold water. I pulled a bottle of water and poured myself a cup of water. I can feel his eyes on me but I just keep my mouth shut. When I'm done, I put the glass on the sink. I turned to leave only to be stopped by someone pulling my wrist. "Not so fast babe," he said. "Caden- " I was not able to finish what I'm going to say when he pulled me by my waist. My palms are now on his chest. 'What the heck is wrong with him! What is going on with me, being nervous infront of this man?' I thought to myself. "Why are you still awake?" "I just want to drink- " "Is that so? Or you really followed me here?" he asked as he smirked. "Oh, sorry to disappoint you but I'm really thirsty. I can't sleep and my throat is dry." He suddenly put his head on the crook of my neck. I can feel his warm breath that made me shiver. "C- Caden," I said not knowing what to say. "Yes," he replied in his husky tone. I can feel him kissing my neck. As soft moan escaped from my mouth. 'Oh, what's with the sound Sabrina!' "St- stop," I said, realizing what is happening. I push him away from me. He is now smirking towards me. "Never do that again," I warned. "Why? Does it affect you?" "No! For pete's sake," I said rolling my eyes. He was about to say something when I run upstairs. I can hear him laughing. I immediately locked the door as I entered my room. I leaned on it and closed my eyes. My heart is just beating so fast. 'Oh wow Sabrina! Your heart is beating as if you just joined a marathon!' After I calmed myself, I jumped on my bed and tried to sleep. The event a while ago just keeps on playing in my head. I tried to put that away from my thought until I feel into deep slumber. The next morning, entertainment about our engagement flooded the social media. I tried to read some comments from the nitizens. Yeah, they have different views and even have some discussion about it. I don't know how entertaining our engagement is. But people are sometimes crazy that they even interfere with other peoples' life. For me, it's quite annoying. @Marcela Francisca
