Chapter 27: Grievances

1084 Words

Thinking about the grievances she had endured over the years, Flora couldn't help but ask Old Carmen, "Grandpa, do you think I can still cause any trouble? Am I just someone in your eyes who stirs up problems for you?" Flora was truly distressed; this was the first time she had contradicted Old Carmen. She deeply respected her grandfather, but now, she was genuinely hurt. Her question caught Old Carmen off guard. He never expected Flora to confront him in public like this. "Smack!" Suddenly, Brook slammed the conference table. He stood up, pointing at Flora, loudly scolding, "Flora, what kind of person are you? How dare you speak to grandpa like that? I think you're asking for trouble!" Flora didn't ignore him this time. Instead, she glared angrily at Brook. This further angered him.
