Chapter 1: I'm a Doctor
Southlin Nation, atop the Jadesky Mountain. The air on the mountaintop was filled with the fragrance of medicinal herbs, and various herbs sprawled across the area. If a knowledgeable traditional Chinese medicine practitioner were to see this, they would surely be astonished. The herbs that were rare and precious outside were abundant here, and even within the medicinal fields, one could spot life-threatening elixirs. Inside a bamboo hut, an old man in plain robes, with a youthful face and white hair, lay casually on a lounge chair. Suddenly, the door creaked open. "Old man, why did you call me here?" A young man in his twenties, carefree in demeanor, plopped down on the chair beside the old man. "You brat, you've been following me for so long, and you've learned almost everything I know. Pack your things. You're going down the mountain." The old man casually glanced at Oliver and said. Oliver Lowell was taken aback, then smirked, "After all these years, I'm the only one accompanying you here. If I leave, who'll take care of you in your old age?" But soon, Oliver looked shocked as he stared at the old man, "You old man, you didn't really find a young and beautiful girl to take care of you, did you?" Before he could finish speaking, Oliver's head was fiercely knocked. "Get lost, you brat. I won't die even if you do." Oliver rubbed his head, muttering, "This old guy's skills are quite profound." "You've been with me since you were eight, learning medicine on the mountain. It's been over a decade now. Do you think I don't know what's on your mind?" The old man continued, "I found out for you. When you were driven out by the Lowell family and stranded in Blokoord City, the girl who saved your life was Flora Carmen from the Carmen family. They have a Carmen Group!" "Now, Flora's grandfather, the head of the Carmen family, is critically ill. Flora is secretly seeking medical help, and I've arranged a doctor's identity for you. I've also contacted her in your name. Just go down the mountain and find her." "Now that you've learned enough from me, it's time to live your own life," the old man said in a calm tone. Oliver fell silent, memories of a figure that had haunted him for years surfaced in his mind, as did the faces of those who had expelled him from the family at the age of eight. He was originally from the top-tier family, the Lowell family, in the capital, Voidstar City. However, when he was eight, his uncle, who regarded his father as a thorn, forged evidence of his father embezzling funds from the Lowell family's major companies. Ridiculously, everyone in the Lowell family, including his grandfather, believed it without a doubt. Despite his father's desperate pleas, everyone in the Lowell family forced him to hand over double the embezzled money. His father, already in poor health, was driven to his death by these so-called relatives. After his father's death, those supposed relatives coveted the inheritance left by his father. They collaborated to empty everything his father had left for him and his mother, leaving nothing behind. In order to eliminate any future problems, they disregarded any familial ties and expelled him and his mother from the Lowell family. Even his seemingly kind grandfather turned a blind eye, showing no concern for his grandson's life. He and his mother had to wander the streets, and more tragically, they got separated during their journey. Left alone, he struggled on the streets and eventually arrived in Blokoord. The small amount of money his mother left was also depleted. An eight-year-old child, penniless and wandering the bustling streets in a daze— one can imagine the immense pain he must have felt. In the depths of desperation, with hunger and cold gnawing at him, he even contemplated ending his own life. In a critical moment, a passing young girl approached with a piece of bread in hand. In that moment, Oliver felt as though the girl before him radiated warmth like an angel. Not only that, she carefully draped her precious cotton jacket over him. This moment, the face of the girl with a doll-like appearance, eternally engraved itself in his heart. She was the one who saved him. Without that piece of bread, he wouldn't have survived long enough to encounter the old man passing through Blokoord, who eventually adopted him and taught him the skills that took fifteen years to master. The old man sighed, "It's time to go down the mountain." Oliver's gaze became determined. With a debt of blood vengeance, how could he not seek revenge? With a life-saving favor to repay, how could he not repay it? "Old man, take care!" Oliver stood up, kowtowing three times to the old man before walking out. Watching Oliver leave, a hint of sadness flickered in the old man's eyes. He sighed but said no more. His medical skills had reached a level where he could be considered a master, capable of saving or taking lives. Many nobles and dignitaries sought his services, but he chose to bring Oliver, a street urchin, up the mountain for training out of a momentary soft spot. Unexpectedly, Oliver's talent was exceptional, mastering the old man's skills in just over a decade. His medical expertise had reached an astonishing level, and his other skills were no less impressive. This journey down the mountain was like releasing a hidden dragon into the abyss, and who knew what storms it would stir. ... Several days later, in Blokoord. At the entrance of Corewood Company, according to gathered information, the little girl who saved him years ago was now the owner of this company. Standing at the entrance, memories of the bread from the past flooded Oliver's mind, and a nostalgic look appeared in his eyes. Just as he stepped towards the entrance of Corewood Company, a furious shout interrupted him. "Stop, what are you doing?" A security guard marched over, eyeing the ragged Oliver with disdain. People who came here were either business elites or high-class white-collar workers. It was unusual to see someone in tattered clothes. "Go away, hurry up. This place is not for someone like you. I'm telling you, you can't afford to touch anyone's clothes here." Without further ado, the security guard pushed Oliver, attempting to chase him away. "I'm here to find someone." Oliver frowned, standing his ground. "With your poor appearance, who do you know here? Hurry up and get out. If you don't, don't blame me for being rude." The security guard, unable to push Oliver, now displayed a hint of anger. Holding his baton, he angrily threatened, "I've said it, I'm just here to find someone. If you don't move, you'll bear the consequences!" "Oh, what? It sounds like you want to use force!" The security guard casually glanced at Oliver with a disdainful look, thinking he could easily handle this small guy with just one hand. Oliver sneered and directly grabbed the security guard's hand holding the baton. With a little force, the guard's hand instantly turned red. "Ah!" A pig-like scream echoed from the guard's mouth. "Sir, sir, let go, I was wrong, I know I was wrong." The guard, his face now red from pain, immediately begged for mercy. "Hmph, snobbish," Oliver said, tossing the guard aside effortlessly. The guard flew several meters before hitting the ground. Ignoring the howling guard, Oliver prepared to enter the building. "Did you hear? Mr. Carmen seems to be in bad shape." Oliver overheard two women in tight skirts gossiping just ahead of him. Although their voices were low, Oliver's enhanced senses, developed through years of bathing in hundreds of medicinal herbs under the old man's guidance, made their conversation crystal clear to him. "No way, wasn't hid condition stable a few days ago? Why did he suddenly..." "Do we still have a paycheck? I heard the company is losing money every year. If the boss wasn't from the Carmen family, the company might have gone under long ago." "I'm worried too. Looks like we need to find a way out quickly." At that moment, a refined woman emerged from the elevator. She appeared to be in her twenties, tall and slender, with delicate features, dressed in a tight-fitting dress that perfectly showcased her attractive figure. However, there was a hint of anxiety in her expression. Seeing her, the previously gossiping women's faces instantly changed. They respectfully greeted her, "Miss Carmen!"
