Emberly I’m seated with my girls at the bar, Lydia and Sal, it’s my first time having such a good time without thinking about going home. I know mother agreed to no guards but I can bet Evan is here, I can smell his scent. Musky chocolate and olive, Evan was worse than the guards my father hired. He frequented this spot with his friends, called the Elites, they work specifically for the Alpha, Alpha Axellius. On special missions. That’s all he tells me, no matter how much I beg him, sometimes he could disappear for a whole day, others a whole week but he has never gone beyond two weeks. I could feel a set of eyes on me, while I danced with Asher. It’s Evan. Evan has always hated Asher, from the first day he met him, I don’t know why and he won’t say too. “Don’t worry, he will be back” Sal informs me noticing the concern on my face. It’s been ten minutes since Asher left for a bathroom break. I kept glancing at the door, waiting for him, he was the reason I came here in the first place, I wanted to get to know him better. I had just found out six days ago that he was my mate, at first I was surprised, I didn’t think that the moon goddess would pair with a ranked member. My father is the chief Commander to the pack, he was just as important as an ordinary guard of the pack house. “Do you know how lucky you are to be mated to the Beta’s son, you are very lucky girl” Lydia says and I give a faint smile. Sometimes I think she wanted Asher more than me, “I’m glad I have you girls” I grab my drink and jug it down in a blow. Lycan’s can’t get intoxicated because of our fast healing process, I could only feel the hint of the drink for a second before I was back to being myself. I needed something strong to intoxicate myself but I had no way to get my hands on those things. The sight of people running outside caught my attention, a girl brushed past us almost bumping Sal to the ground, Sal immediately grabbed her, “What’s going on?” She asked. “There is a big fight outside” the girl responded out of breath and ran out. We hastily got to our feet and rushed out, there I found Evan beating a guy to pulp while on top of him. His fist was covered in blood and so was his shirt, he smashed the guy’s head to the ground and punched him in the face again and again, causing his jaw to dislocate. It took me a minute to realize that it was Asher, my mate. I rushed toward them and pulled Evan off him, my strength was not enough to push Evan so far back, which meant he let me. “I don’t want to see you around her again” Evan warned. Asher slowly stood to his feet, wiping the blood off his lips, “What are you going to do about it?” He remarked. Evan pulled forward ready to punch him again when Enzo held him back, that wasn’t enough so Caden and Beau joined. “It’s not like you can tell her” he adds. I stare at Evan wondering what Asher meant, I could feel it in my guts that he was talking about me. Was there something I needed to know. “Go ahead Evan, f*****g tell her” Asher taunted. Before I could blink, Evan sped from behind me and punched him in the face again, he grabbed his body and smashed it to the wall. “Evan” I screamed his name before he could land another punch. He paused mid-air. “That’s enough guys” a voice said, It was Sawyer, the Alpha’s heir. He looked offended by the scene in front of him. Evan backed off him, then grabbed my hand to go with him, “Let’s go” “No” I retracted my hand from his, he looked surprised that I would do that. “We have to go now” he ordered but I refused to go with him. “I’m staying” I say. A set of arms wrapped around my shoulders, from the scent I knew it was Asher, “She will stay with me, isn’t that right baby?” Asher stated, it was the first time he called me by that name, even though it sounded awkward, I nodded my head and smiled at him. He stretched his hand to me and I held him, then he led me back into the club. Before we could reach the door, a hand held mine and pushed him out of the way. “Emberly, don’t make me repeat myself. We have to leave now” Evan commanded. I don’t understand why he would lay his hands on my mate and think that’s okay to me, he may hate Asher but that didn’t give him the right to hurt him. “If you want to leave, you can leave. But I am staying here with my mate” I informed him, making it clear that he wasn’t father and I didn’t have to answer to him. He rubbed his lips together as he nodded his head, then slowly let go of my hand. I watched him walk to his bike and grab his helmet, he doesn’t spare me a glance as he climbs on it and drives away. His friends follow him leaving behind one person, Beau. He just stood there watching us, his arms folded. “Let’s go inside” Asher held my hand and led me back into the club. Once we were in a room alone, I turn to him, “What happened?” I asked. “Nothing” he smiled at him, giving me a little kiss on my forehead. I knew he was lying to me and there was something wrong, otherwise Evan wouldn’t beat him up like that. But I couldn’t take Evan’s side, he wasn’t my mate, Asher was. “Are you sure?” I asked again. “Yes baby, it was just a little quarrel” he smiles back.
