4 Sergeant Williams was alone in the conference room when Mark entered. All the photos were still laid out on the long, dark wood table in exactly the way Mark had left them and Williams was studying them with an intensity that suggested he was about to divine all the answers about the case right there, any moment now. Mark wished he would. He jumped as Mark closed the door behind him, and turned to face him so fast a few of the photos and papers went flying across the tabletop. “You’re back, Sir,” Williams muttered. “I was just familiarizing myself with the case.” “Anything jump out at you?” Mark asked as he joined him by the table.
