We finally reached home. Carl locked the car door before we went inside the house. I was greeted with a big hug from Luke and mommy. It felt like forever since I last saw all of them. While mommy and Carl were making lunch, Luke and I went into our room to talk about what had happened when I was gone. When I told him I had a stepsister named Rebecca on my father's side, he didn't look too happy."Luke, what is it?" I asked. He replied " It's just that I wanted to have you all to myself. I hate to share you with anyone" I understood what Luke was saying but we could all be best of friends."Luke, please give it try, we can all be best friends" Luke went silent for a whole 15 minutes before agreeing."Ok, let's give it a try"
We went downstairs for dinner hours later. While I was coming downstairs I saw a familiar little girl around my age. I let go of Luke's hand(yes we like to hold each other's hands, especially after that horror movie he made me watch) and rushed down the stairs to hug Rebecca. This was a perfect opportunity for her to meet Luke."Luke this is Rebecca, Rebecca this is Luke" I said with excitement. Rebecca then smiled and said"I'm guessing your Luke. Nessa told me all about you" "Nessa?" Luke asked wanting to know how Rebecca gave me a nickname already."Yes! We are best friends now!" she said not even realizing that Luke was grinding his teeth when she said that. I was confused as to why he did that but brushed it off anyways.
Turned out my dad was the one that brought Rebecca to surprise me. She was gonna stay with us for the week! I wish he could've stayed for dinner but dad had to go to work. He works in the evenings. I find it very strange but mommy says that a lot of persons have evening shifts. We went to the dinner table and my mouth watered when I saw what mommy and Carl prepared. They made cheesy mash potatoes, juicy baked chicken, vegetables, and some delicious-looking pasta.
We all sat at the table now and started to eat our food. My mom and Carl welcomed Rebecca with open arms at the beginning so don't you go and think they were giving her silent treatment or something like that. While I was eating my food I kept on giving Luke this weird eye signal silently asking him if he is ok. He picked up at the signal and nodded his head. I looked over to Rebecca and did the same thing but she was kind of confused." She is asking if you are ok. I'm her big brother so I would understand" he said in a very soft tone. She then nodded in response to my question. But why was Luke acting like this tho?
We continued to eat our dinner. Our parents finished before us so they went to cuddle in the living room watching some reality show called Love Island I think. Those people on the TV had accents so that's how I knew they weren't from around here. Wanting my siblings to get used to each other, I made some excuses about wanting to go to the bathroom. When I came back they were closer than ever and I mean literally. Their bodies almost touched. They were talking and laughing and that's how I knew Luke was ok with her. I overheard him apologizing for the way he acted earlier and how he would have no problem sharing me with Rebecca. She accepted his apology and somehow their hands' touch. Rebecca started to blush-wait what? Luke's cheeks were turning pink-wait a minute! hold the phone! Luke placed the strand of hair that was on Rebecca's face behind her ear. All of a sudden they started to laugh. you got me shocked when he said " Venesa I know your behind the wall spying on us.We planned this whole thing up!" I was relieved when he said that. The rest of the evening we all went outside to play.
It was now nighttime. We all decided to camp outside our backyard. Mommy and Carl had their small tent while we kids had one big tent for ourselves. We talked and told stories until it was time for us to go to sleep. Rebecca was fast asleep but I and Luke couldn't sleep so we talked for the rest of the time. Luke looked at me and said, "I'm glad you're my sister".I smiled and then said "I'm glad your my brother and I will always love you" Luke yarned then said "I will always love you too" before he went to sleep. I looked at my siblings and smiled. Sleep later took over my body.
