Beck
Beck avoided his neighbors Valerie and David like the plague. He was just too embarrassed to face them after what had happened with Yvonne. He was wrong to let Valerie fix him up to begin with. He should have known better. He obviously wasn’t ready for another girl yet. He missed his dear friends, but he wasn’t up for a lecture from Valerie. He timed it perfectly, if he scooted out of work at exactly 5:28, he’d miss Valerie by the seat of his pants if he ran from his car in the parking lot up to his second-floor apartment. For the next few weeks, that’s all she ever saw of him when she pulled into the driveway – his back turned to her as he walked up the stairs to his apartment.
Valerie was upset, but she figured she’d let him be.
