Crushed Expectations

The sound of a scream jolted me to reality as one of my classmates jumped with joy. "THEME IS ROYALTY!!!". Countless of thoughts ran through my mind as the word "royalty" rang. My eyes gleamed as I shook my friend, really excited "I'm gonna wear purple ball gown!". And those words acted like a curse, because at the next moment... " WHAT DO YOU MEAN THAT PURPLE ISN'T ONE OF THE COLOR CODES?!" It seems as though a cold water was dumped into the girl, the so-called "month of love" isn't going too well for her. No purple, No ball gowns, and for the most cruel part, NO DATE. Her boyfriend cancels out for the last minute with the valid and believable reasons, and all that's left for her, is to understand the situation. The girl in golden mermaid gown watched in silence as her friends are being called for a dance. Her face shows a gentle smile, but her heart sanks as she know with all of her heart, he is not coming. She stares at the dark, cold, starless sky as her brown orbs shimmered with tears. Wind whistled as her brownish locks went with the gentle "swish". Her hands covered with glitters as she went for the makeup remover, she gently wiped her face as the colors disappeared. She stares at her reflection as she sets her crown down. Even if you're full of plans and expectations, these grand dreams would be crushed into nothing, even with a tiny, simple problem. It just...cannot be helped. At that moment I realized, some things cannot be changed, but it is within oneself to adapt to the situation even if it crushed your expectations.
