Alli eyes
Within a few days of getting to be with Lee, Alli was standing in front of her cousins Sams Door in Demi. Though she hated the town they were neutral, and as odd as it was it was one of the best places to get parts. Parts that could be found here Alli knew to the west you would not find anything useful. Jen opened the door and both women smiled as they hugged each other. Alli and Jen visited till her cousin Sam came home. Then she helped with dinner, after Sam took her to the parts place. It was a big metal building, Alli had gone in as soon as they were fully stopped. Old Charlie was there as always, he did his usual how are you by asking what did the militia need now. Sam came in and he and the old man got into a discussion which let Alli search for what she needed. She didn't care what Charlie thought or felt towards the militia, he knew they would pay him. Once Alli found everything on her list she went out to Sam's vehicle. Once she was out side and was looking around she could see two new factories in the south. They looked like those the army ran in Azona, suddenly she knew she had to find out what was in the factories before she could go back to Vegas. Since Demi was neutral, she knew it would be best to see what they were up to. Sam had come out of the building and saw she was staring off towards the Army's factories.
"Whats up Cousin?"
"Can we go by those factories?"
"Sure."
"How long have they been there, and who runs them?"
"Oh Alli," Sam chuckles, "you should know the second question just by the line of work you are in."
They drove by the factories ten minutes later, Alli did in fact know, she had just been hoping for once she was wrong. Though she was certain this could cut her trip short, Alli wanted to know what was going on in the factories.
It took two day of hanging out with an old friend and his three roommates that worked in the factories. She found out they were smelters, but asked if she could go along with them anyway. Laughing that she would have to help out they worked the night shift that evening. She went along and did help out till one of the bosses came to do a check, the two working in the left building quickly wrapped her in a jacket slipped a car key in her hand and rushed her towards the back exit. She hung out waiting just beyond the fence till the sun rose and she saw the three guys coming.
Later that day as she and her cousin Jan were coming back from Cruses, they drove by the Jail. It too looked like a factory though it was not. She asked if they could stop and see what it looked like on the inside. The warden was a former Army Sargent and old friend from high school, He asked Alli if she wanted her old job as a cook back. Alli excepted with out a thought, some normal like life sounded like the thing she needed.
Eventually after three months she gained the trust of the guards and inmates alike. Though she found this jail was truly a front for the Army. She had to deal with some inmates who didn't want to work would fill their wet boots with water and freeze them. The first time Alli dreaded the reactions, but at the same time she found she was meaner and knew more tricks. She found that the Jail ran the local restaurant owners and what the could serve, and whom they should and shouldn't serve. Alli was known for being Militia, and She had to work extra hard to hide out in open when it came to meeting certain individuals for the cause.
By the time Alli got the call to come back to Vegas, she was more than happy to be leaving. There had been some major changes going on in Demi, and Alli wanted to talk to Mack. The night before she was to leave Alli went and hung out with Jan and Sam. They had a visitor from out of town and Sam's older brother Bo who was thrilled to see she was there. He had a tattoo kit with him and Alli asked if he could do one from an old drawing Lee had done years before he war. Bo did it and the whole while they reminisced over the past. Early the next morning Alli was already on the road, she didn't sleep much anymore so she figured driving would do her good. As she drove her mind wandered into the past. Once these roads had towns and cities randomly along side them, now they were just long and desolate.
